Wuchang, do continue with the synopsis with the coming episode.

    Thanks!
    1. Maggie is not a struggling single mom. Her job pays her well enough to engage a nanny to take care of Coco occasionally. Though the part about her taking over Pauline's company is fuzzy. Maybe Pauline didn't ask for a large sum of money. Pauline just made 1 million on the stock market through James. That's why she totally lost interest in running her own company.

    2. The whole of last week was setting Pauline up for the fall. Kara was overseas so there was plenty of screentime for other characters. Pauline did not meet James overnight. Pauline might even have known James before Liu Yun. James was actively wooing Pauline. James had a hand in Pauline and Liu Yun's breakup. It was a misunderstanding between the two which James managed to capitalise on.

    Episode 32

Not much to recap I feel. There were lots of happy scenes with Stanley and family. Frankie has become famous for his miracle in healing Stanley. Mary is fussing all over Frankie becuase of this. Mary may be finally pregnant but because she pissed off one of the pharmacy salesgirl, she got a pregnancy test kit that has expired. She tested negative for that.

Pauline continues her descent. She rebuffs all help from Paco, Maggie and Liu Yun. To add salt to the wound, her father appears again to extort money from her. She declares bankruptcy. She tries finding a job again but because her industry is small and close knit, everyone knows what happened to her. Her pride made her look for a job outside her industry. Even that fails due to her inexperience.

Looks like in the next episode Pauline might try to kill herself! A recap please!

I am wondering though what is Paco's job? I thought I read he is like a financial investment wiz, so he could have helped right?

I actually thought Maggie is a struggling single mom, until I read what you wrote and saw one episode and her house is big! Maybe she can hire pauline? But pride must have set Pauline back! Poor woman!

Paco did try to warn Pauline about the risks. Pauline was also very cautious in the beginning, she did seek a second opinion from Paco about a certain investment. ( the tennis scene with Paco in the screencaps) However, she threw caution out the window when James investments tips kept reaping profits.

Paco manages a fund. He works from home through the internet. He reports to a guy called Russell.

    Episode 33

Pauline tries gambling in a casino to recoup her losses but end up losing all her money. A sleazy looking gambler offers cash to Pauline on the condition that she sleeps with him. Pauline is outraged. Her father happens to be around to witness everything. Pauline attempts suicide. It is her father who manages to stop her. Her father promises to turn over a new leaf.

Stanley finally returns home. More happy family scenes. Yongheng is shown sick and having diarrhea. But he hides it from Stanley so as not to spoil the happy mood of the family. This seems like a foreshadow of things to come. More lovey dovey scenes between Stanley and Kara.

Liu Yun chances upon Pauline on the street and gives her a good dressing down on avoiding her friends who all sincerely want to help her. Pauline finally suck in her pride and ask Maggie for a job. Maggie is only delighted to have Pauline back.

But things are not all smooth sailing. Things get a bit tricky when Pauline changes Maggie's proposal during a meeting with the client. Maggie's colleagues began to talk bad about Pauline behind her back.

After late night partying, Paco and Pauline return home. Maggie was partying too but had to leave early, Maggie and Pauline got into an argument after Pauline said some hurtful things in her drunken stupor. Paco gets sqeezed in the middle. But things between Maggie and Pauline soon got better after they apprehended a thief in the carpark together.

Pauline said there were 5 taboos ( 五大忌 ) for a woman.

    1. No figure 没身材
    2. No beauty 没美貌
    3. No taste 没品味
    4. No family background 没家境
    5. No brains 没头脑

Pauline in her drunken stupor says Maggie is guilty of all 5 of them. Maggie retorted that she does not need a loser to lecture her.

As for Yongheng, I'm not sure about his fate, but there was a chinese news article about Guo Liang where he said that when he showed the script to his parents, they cried. Something about the character Stanley, even though he was a doctor, he was not able to save his son. Seems like it might be a trajedy.

    Episode 34

First half of the episode we have Stanley and Kara's children going to the hospital to do some volunteer work. The children are enriched by it and are breeming with desire for more social work. Kara suggested they try to be more observant of the people around them who might be in need of some help. The children then set their sights on Liu Yun and Pauline.

They cooked up some excuse and to create an opportunity for Liu Yun and Pauline to meet up. It didn't do much good. Maggie tries talking to Pauline too but Pauline didn't want to impede Liu Yun's career as he had received an invitation to teach music in US.

Paco and Maggie go dating. Maggie decides to go home early. Paco reluctanly sends Maggie home but goes to play billards with another friend. Two girls invited themselves into the game. When it ended, Paco has to send one of them home. The girl gives Paco her phone number and asks for his, Paco replied with, "I don't give away my number away so easily". The girl appears pissed.

Paco, Maggie and Coco goes to the beach. Due to lack of sleep, Paco sleeps through the outing. Maggie finds a woman's earring in Paco's car. It belongs to the girl Paco just sent home. Maggie asks Pauline if the earring belongs to her. Pauline covers for Paco. She then meets Paco to warn him not to hurt Maggie. Paco protest his innocence.

Paco returns home to find an ex-girlfriend crying outside his house. She has just discovered that her husband has a mistress. Paco finds that she is drunk and is slightly suicidal so he brings her into his apartment.

The next day Maggie brings breakfast to Paco's apartment and finds a woman answering the door. She then sees Paco in a bathrobe. She assumes the worst and refuses to listen to Paco's explanation. Later on, when Maggie has left, Paco's ex-girlfriend remarks that Paco has changed.

Let me guess what happens next.

She tries to go for an abortion, has a change of heart, pursued by Paco who perhaps asked her to marry him and she say yes?

    Tomorrow's episode looks exciting.

    Spot on!

That's the gist of what happened. Paco has to go overseas due to an urgent situation within his company. Maggie is angry that he did not bother to explain himself and just left. Though it was partly her fault as she refuse to pick up Paco's urgent calls.

Maggie discovers she is pregnant. Memories of how Roy once tricked her came flashing back. She makes an appointment with a doctor for an abortion. Pauline accidentally discovers Maggie's pregnancy. She calls Paco and frantically searches for Maggie, even enlisting Stanley to call his colleagues to reveal privilege patient information.

Paco rushes back. Paco finally finds Maggie as she returns home from the abortion clinic. Maggie reveals she did not abort the child. Maggie suggests some time off for both of them to think things over.

Pauline has a talk with Paco. Kara has a talk with Maggie. It seems to work.

Paco goes to Maggie's company with his bank account and a list of his ex girlfriends. Paco also proposes to Maggie. Maggie accepts. An exhilarated Paco then announces it to everyone the good news. Pauline becomes the bridesmaid and Liu Yun the best man.

Mary finally discovers that she is actually pregnant and not having menopause. Frankie is overjoyed.

Yongheng starts to feel dizzy during physical education in school.

They got married already? So fast? All in one episode?
Ok I didn't see the preview when I posted the above sentence.

A very happy ending indeed. Please more captures of the wedding scene. Want to see something happy.

    Episode 36

A pretty straightforward episode. Basically wedding preparation and actual wedding.

We finally find out what Yongheng is suffering from.

    A.L.D

Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is one of a group of genetic disorders called the leukodystrophies that cause damage to the myelin sheath, an insulating membrane that surrounds nerve cells in the brain.

    ...

The childhood form is the most severe, with onset between ages 4 and 10. The most common symptoms are usually behavioral changes such as abnormal withdrawal or aggression, poor memory, and poor school performance. Other symptoms include visual loss, learning disabilities, seizures, poorly articulated speech, difficulty swallowing, deafness, disturbances of gait and coordination, fatigue, intermittent vomiting, increased skin pigmentation, and progressive dementia.

This is not fair. How much more must this boy go through? I think it's going to be a major tear fest.I am getting ready with my tissue. ALD is incurable right?

A matching bone marrow transplant can "provide long-term benefit to boys who have early evidence of X-ALD". According to this website.

    http://www.ninds.nih.gov/health_and_...renolu_doc.htm

"but the procedure carries risk of mortality and morbidity and is not recommended for those whose symptoms are already severe or who have the adult-onset or neonatal forms."

So I'm not sure it can be cured. But a transplant will definitely prolong his life. Right now, his diagnosis is that he will be a vegetable in 2 years time.

This episode is too depressing to recap. So I made more screencaps instead.

    I though it's 40 episodes? Now it's 38?

Let me guess the ending, I could be wrong.

I think no one could be a donor and then they discover the doctor's unborn child has suitable whatever and the baby becomes the donor? Or the baby got miscarriaged and you can still use the dead foetus as the donor? Or maybe not? Maybe they can't find a donor and in the end he dies?

Remember Lorenzo's Oil the movie? What was the disease? Not ALD?
