Anybody watching Mediaworks' Power of Love, starring Esther Kwan and Guo Liang?
I watched the first two episodes, but found it quite boring. It is difficult to explain, but I feel the series is too high class, arty and detached.

This latest series from Mediaworks looks promising from the first two episodes. It seeks to explore the modern views on the institution of marriage.
The series revolves around four couples.
1) Esther Kwan and Guo Liang
The seemingly perfect husband and wife with 2 children. Things complicate when a child shows up claiming to be Guo Liang's illegitimate son. The mother is played by Sun Li.
2) Adrian Pang and Quan Yifeng
The hen pecked husband and the domineering wife. Another woman will come into the picture. But I've yet to find out the name of the actress.
3) Michelle Chia and the Pianist
The modern career woman and the penniless musician. The pianist is played by a Mainland Chinese actor, 曹卫宇 Cao Wei Yu
4) Apple Hong and the Casanova.
Apple is a single mom of a daughter. The casanova is played by Shaun Chen.

Argh! Didn't see this thread. Wonder if the moderators can merge this with the other one I've started.
Yep I've watched the first two episodes. I don't think it's "high class". Just that the characters involved work in a posh environment.
By "high class", I mean all the characters lived and worked in posh environment. They dined in posh environment and listened to classical music. Moreover, almost all of the scenes have a bluish cast, which makes the series feel colder and more detached.
That's why it's fiction! Still it's not too unrealistic that Doctors and people in the media industry frequent places with posh furniture.
The bluish tinge does make it colder somewhat. Hopefully the acting will be able to overcome that.
After reading the above article, I am convinced; I am wrong about this series. It will be a dud because everybody's role can be categorised, like henpeck husband, casanova, single mother. I was wondering, does any of these characters ever crosses each other's path? I hope there will be a detailed synopsis for this one like you all did for TVB series.

Yep they all cross paths.
Shaun Chen is Esther Kwan's brother.
Esther, Michelle and Apple are close friends.
Apple works for Michelle.
Guo Liang and Adrian Pang work in the same hospital and are close friends.
Esther and Quan Yifeng are close friends too.
Cao Wei Yu is the legal guardian of Guo Liang's illegitimate son.
The four child actors have substantial scenes in this series. Namely the daughter and son of Esther and Guo Liang. The son of Guo Liang and Sun Li. And Apple's daughter.
Hehe, threads have been merged Enjoy the discussion that is going on now!!!

This is a collaboration between Singapore's Mediaworks and the Taiwanese studio which produced Book and Sword 02. However, most of the actors and actresses are from Mediaworks.
I don't know whether Mediaworks series will be available overseas though.
Chinese Entertainment International's website has a forum for "Power of Love". It's in traditional chinese characters.

A pity though so little promotion for this series. Not even a website and there's only one pitiful forum. For someone like I who depends so much on online ini was very disappointed with the lack of everything. if this series fails, it may not just be because it sucks but because the promo was nonexistent. Good question though, where do one buy SIngaporean series? Do they have them on Yesasia?

Thanks for the screencaps. I can see why one complained it the series is detached, arty because from the screen caps I could detach blue, detachment, and rich people! I also noticed there are quite a lot of kissing scenes. Hmmm a selling point, only that I do not know any of them except for 2. i also noticed you put in a lot of effort in piecing together the end credits! Thanks again!
So far how's the series? Opinion anyone? More screencaps please!By the way is the series fully dubbed, half dubbed or well I don't think Esther knows mandarin anyway.

I still do not know who's the girl in the last picture. Any idea?
As for the series, I find it a breath of fresh air. So far the acting has been great. Everyone's believable in their parts except maybe for Quan Yifeng. Well, she mainly host variety shows and she's really good at that so I still find it hard to shake off that image of hers. But the interesting thing is, Guo Liang, Michelle Chia, Apple Hong and Adrian Pang all have hosted at least one variety show while at Mediaworks. And they're all pretty good at it too.
So far the plot has centered on Guo Liang and his illegitimate son. He just discovered that the mother has recently died and thus has decided to assume the responsibility of caring for his other son. Esther will find out in the next episode. Shaun Chen has managed to win Michelle Chia's affection after a persistent courtship.
Only Esther's voice is dubbed. Surprisingly they didn't dub Adrian Pang's voice as well. Being a UK trained lawyer who later went into english theatre, he is more fluent in english. His mandarin can be comical at times as his pronunciation is sometimes off. heh
