When I first entered this thread and read the initial comments, a scenerio popped up in mind:

There is a building with open doors. Near the door is a sign that state: "Calling ALL Sheeps! There's an Alec Su Bashing PARTY taken place!!!"
The wolves-in-sheeps'-clothings bid their time, waiting for the sheeps to come. One sheep bravely entered and was attacked from all directions. Another followed in his footsteps and was too gobbled up and another followed him. Thru time, the sheeps saw that the others hadn't returned, thinking it was probably a wonderful party, that's why those initial sheeps hadn't left the building, flocks of sheeps entered. Overwhelmed by the vast number of sheeps, the wolves ran away. It was easy to attack one single sheep, but when a team of sheeps gathered, they over-powered and scared away the wolves . . .

And now they are free to mingle and frolic and socialize and express their contempt of the subject under discussion (Alec Su)! However, because the battle was lost, the wolves re-group and plot to demolish the sheeps' haven. HOW CRUEL?


Anywho, can't say I hate Alec but don't like him much either. Used to like him in Princess Pearl I-II as the innocent, adorable 5th prince; however, later i watched some of his series and was disappointed by one thing or another. Saw Romance in the Rain but he didn't seemed natural in there. Saw Legendary Sibling and felt that he did not have the charisma to fit the role. Saw that Aegean Sea series and thought that he was waayyy tooo dramatic. Saw Warriors of the Yang Clan and felt he was not heroic enough to fit that role; also seemed a bit whimpy and useless in there. Watched the show with a remote in hand due to all his repetitive boring sobby scenes. Decent actor but not exceptional. Decent looks but not lady-killer. Saw only part of Dragon Sabre and Heavenly Sword and thought perhaps they should have invested a little bit more money to find a more fitting person to play the father.

In conclusion, i don't hate Alec but I don't feel he deserve all those titles under his belt. Over-exposure can have a very negative reaction. Furthermore, I don't think it's his fault that he's cast in these roles (where story are too sobby and characters don't match his appearance) but it's the big-heads fault for choosing him. Also, fault of crazy, over-excited fans who already declare a show is good before viewing just because "Alec Su" is written in the credits.

But hey, in truth, it's not really anyone's fault. Everyone's opinion is his/her own. The name "ALEC SU" is a great rock mountain of LOVE for you and a deep salt sea of DISAPPOINTMENT for me

he was adorabe in PP but then in anything else hes this pathetic character. hes wayyyyyyy over praised and overrated. i mean, this guys a pretty good actor but compared to some of the new stars and other old stars hes alright. i just cant take him seriously in some of the hero roles because he looks so short and weak.

hes not that great looking like EVERYONE in this forum seems to suggest. hes alright.

I've seen a lot of pix. with AC in YMHJ promotion . They are still close and looking great together but not once did they ever hold hands like they did in LOAS promotion, makes me wonder why? It seems they can't be close as they want to be may be they both afraid of publicity or something since Cr is a married woman? I don't know whether I'm imagining things too much or are they afraid of showing any affection in public to avoid any scandal? I've also heard that there was bad or negative news about the promotion night been printed on newspapers and Alec seemed to be unhappy when he left? was it true? and why? what were they about? I hope whatever it was, it won't affect AC friendship.

This may be a real stupid start by Alec's fans, but don't delete it, its getting pretty funny. I may not be a fan of Alec but I thought he was alright in Princess Pearl, since the story itself is pretty good (the first one, only). Though his shortness was pretty glaring in the show, since his co-stars were significantly taller. I didn't really watch his other shows, can't comment much. But his songs definitely do not impress me, the usual pop songs that are oh-so-easily forgotten. The only songs I remembered that are sung by him were the ones he sang back when he was with the Little Tigers.

And yeah, I agree with Thor that most posters just post negative remarks to piss the fans off... and they fell for it...

if you look closely...its actually alec whos very reserved...he keeps his hands behind his back the whole time? only when chaerim hugged him first did he respond...this is different from last year's promotion. I guess because of time, they are more reluctant. I can sense it too. This is happening to alec a whole lot recently...he acts very like a gentlemen...i think their friendship is still there...but they just don want to hint anything else for they might have their own partners behind the scenes...

yeah, reading from aznangl426's post.. it really looked like aznangl426 was a fan of alec.


also, i think he was alright as the 5th prince from PP. Also to note, i have reasons to believe that ppl who hated LEo Ku was because he was casted as the 5th prince in PP3 , replacing the "beloved" Alec. I'm willing to bet that a handful of LEo Ku haters were Alec's fans.


anyways, i still think he did a terrible job in HSDS 2003. He didn't have that HERO/gallant/ justice look as the father. AS ZWJ, he can't compare to Tony Leung

as for HDSD 2003, if you read the novel, zhang wuji is not suppose to be the heroic figure...if you read how Jin Yong commented on zhang wu ji, he said: zhang wu ji is not a hero compared to other characters. His flaws are very similar to the common people. his inexperience in politics will not make him a great leader. His personality doesnt allow him to become a hero. rather, zhao min is an innate leader if she were a male."

from Jin Yong's analysis of the character, alec su's role in HSDS fits very well. you are suppose to see a person who isn't as incisive as Qiao Feng, isnt heroic as Yang Guo...

thats how you cast for a tv series....but i really dont have to take in acount of your opinions since HSDS had one of the highest tv ratings which honestly reflects its success...many people did find that alec su fits their imaginative figure of zhang wu ji ...

first of, I said Alec Su was terrible as Zhang tui San, ZWJ's father. Read the post. Alec lacked the HEROIC quality that ZTS had. Not to mention, Alec looked a lil too young to play that role. The beard didn't help.

PLus, as ZWJ, i didn't find Alec really impressive at all. I liked Tony's portrayal more, not so as whiny.


Plus, also, about Alec's acting, i think his range is limited. His ability so far can only cast him in goody two shoe roles, but not so much anything else.

TV ratings is a highly unreliable way of measuring audience reaction, and taking the high ratings as a stamp of approval on Alec su is way off. I watch the show not because I actually like the actors and actresses but because I want to know what happen next. It is the same reason why I watched Chu Liu Xiang by Richie Ren (bad cast) and Princess Pearl III (bad bad cast).

Do you say the truth ? Or you try to say that just to deny what Sugar says ? It's really possible some Alec's fans or more hate Leo Ku for replacing Alec in PP3 and it's also possible for some ruby fans are vicki haters and some vicki fans are ruby haters .

Yes, HSDS 2003 was really dreary and Alec's acting wasn't impressive . He didn't fit his roles . Tony did better job .

I hate Alec is because to me there is nothing to like about him.
He is not attractive. Play almost the same kind of role each and every series.
The shorty is always the good guy in the serie. It really gets annoying.
