He doesnt have to be Buddha himself. But another mortal who has acheived a similar state of enlightenment.
maybe he is the man closest to god (Buddha), the reincarnation of Buddha who would share the same fate.
In Buddhism, everyone has a potential to be a Buddha provided that such person can reach the highest point of the religion. Thus, I believe that sweeper monk is just a person who can enlighten. But, he himself is not a Buddha.
You're mistaken there dude. In Buddhism, there is no single "almighty" Buddha like in Christianity. There are many Buddhas and everyone has the potential to become one.
Sweeper Monk could be the reincarnation of DaMo, the founder of Shaolin...
