I'm a big fan of the series too - just a correction on the ending, Nathan Chan is playing showhand against his father - his 4 cards were 3 Aces & 9 of Speads, his father has K Q J 10 of Spades. For the fifth card, the Aces of Spades was dealt to Chan while 8 of Spades to his father. Before Shi revealed his card, flashback of how Paul Chun went crazy after losing in first par of the series. Chan's father knew Nathan got the Ace, he can't accept the fact he's going to lose & start murmuring to himself. Nathan decided it's best for him to lose & swap the Ace with a 3 of diamond. His father's computer chip crashed as a result. In the end, Nathan lost all his fame & $ but regained the freedom. I really like the last scene after Nathan beats his father & meet with Margie. In terms of the gambling, I like the scene of Nathan's father beating of Paul Chun (picking pairs) & Ben Ng's brother (the blank card).

I think the Nathan's father appearance kind of close all the lose ends (yeah, maybe kind of artificial, but still - take the gambling & conflicts to the next level). After all, had the series ended at the end of the 3 man death match (Nathan vs Ben Ng & Margie's father), it kinds of feel empty as none of the man died & Nathan still souring over it w/ Ben Ng & Margie's father accepting no responsibility. Also, Paul Chun is still crazy & a little side character at the time. Nathan's father appearance brought everyone into the action. The last gambling scene between him & his father provide was a good twist.

I really really love the background music they have, and anyone knows where to find it.

~After seeing Nathan Chan w Joey Meng in part 1, I was depressed when she died in part 2. boo hoo hoo all the way.... especially when the song by Leon Lai came on when she's about to die. There's no one else in the world that's perfect for Nathan. I didn't care if he was with Margie or not. Margie is no fun and stupid for protecting her evil father (he so deserved to die).

~The sex scene b/t Nathan and Margie was funny b/c they didn't show any chemistry.....even though they dated in real life for about 2 years.

~What I found inconsistant was Paul Chun's health. In part 1, he was stabbed in the thigh by his mistress and had to walk around w a cane while always taking medication for his heart problem too. In part 2, he ran around like crazy w/o any difficulty.

~I hated all the make-up that was put on Nathan's father and Margie's father. How gay was that? Why does the director have to zoom in when filming those old men? I dunno.

~Are there no other actors in ATV at that time? Why did they use most of the part 1 cast in part 2? It wasn't confusing, but just makes the movie FEEL LESS REAL. For ex., when we watch an American movie and the actor says a telephone # is 555-xxxx, it automatically reminds us that the whole thing is just a movie after all. all fake.

~In part 3, if Joey didn't love Simon Yam's friend, then WHY THE HELL did she hook up with him?

~Why is Joey even in part 3? She's suppose to be Nathan's girl ONLY!!! I want to remember her as Thach Chi Khan's woman. Now she's someone else's woman also. sad sad sad.

remember in part 3 Joey Meng play different character so she's still nathan's woman. there few people in part 3 was in part 1-2...they just playing different roles.

I remember that I watched part 3 1st (i think it feature Kong Wah in it) and I watched 1 and 2 second. The first two films were great i can't remember the 3rd one but the thing i remember is everyone dies ;p

I just recently bought this series in total for $27 (AUSTRALIAN), consisting of Who's the Winner 1, 2 and 3. I just finished watching part 1 and so far it's my fave. Currently watching half way through part 2.. so far it's okay. I do remember vaguely watching this series when I was 9, but bit too young to remember.. so came across the DVDs the other day and bought it.
Joey dies in the second ep of Part 2 I think..

Btw, does anyone know how old Nathan Chan was in the series? or his DOB? just curious.

Started on Part 2 and stopped watching when Joey's character died.

By chance, saw Part 3 at the store. Bought it, watched it and was happy that Joey was in it. But then her character had to die again!!!! So, stopped watching again.

But then, gotta know the ending, so watched the last episodes of both Parts.

Hey all,

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could tell me the name of a song that i have been searching for ever since the age of 10.... pretty sad though .. cos im now 22..

Anyway, this song is played in Who's the Winner Parts 2 and 3. Just to provide some context, it was played in Part 2 when Nathan Chan's wife (Joey Meng) was slowly passing away in the hospital .. however he was too late. It is a very melodramatic song. Another scene is when Nathan Chan and Margie Tsang revealed their affections for each other ... kissing in front the hotel that Margie was staying .. to steer away from her father.

In Part 3, it was also played when Simon Yan was sitting by the beach on some rocks thinking about his lover ... aaww im still so in love with this song even though it has been many many years ...

Well, someone also posted on the forum somewhere that this song is actually by Leon Lai (another great singer) .. however i've been through heaps of Leon's songs however no success!!

Judging by the length of this post, you can see that I am clearly "desperate" to know and have this song on my CD ... which is dedicated and a sign of appreciation to TVB Songs etc....

To this end, SOS please .... thanks!!
