That'd be very unbalanced 'cause even low-tier characters from 'Wind and Cloud' like Di Shi Tian or Jue Wu Shen could dig a crater with one punch, not to mention godlike top-notch fighters like Bu Jingyun, Nie Feng, or Yi Feng. If the Jedi masters dare to challenge those 'Wind and Cloud' guys, they'll get crushed like pathetic ants.

In the EU STAR WARS material that post-dates the events of RETURN OF THE JEDI, Luke Skywalker becomes capable of some fairly extravagant cosmic feats that aren't seen in the STAR WARS movies, including apparently moving black holes through space.

It all depends on how much EU STAR WARS one wants to accept.

I wouldnt consider EU as canon (even if others do). the stories are crap and ridiculous, like palpatine getting ressurected and the yuuzan vong immune to force shit.

only the feats in the movies should be considered canon. after all, if they were so powerful in EU, why did Obiwan kenobi, one of the most powerful jedis, have trouble fighting Jango Fett? couldnt he have force crushed him in his space ship or something. samething goes for general grievious.

One could say the same about WIND/CLOUD comics...or even certain Gu Long and Jin Yong story ideas.

    Exactly.

You can't selectively pick the individual showings that you like and compare it vis-a-vis the individual showings that you don't like. It has to be a holistic comparison.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread. I love Star Wars and wuxia, and kind of came to wuxia by way of Star Wars. I love the new levels of nerd this thread has gone to. Bravo.

A few things. I think if an author were to endeavor to do a crossover between wuxia and Star Wars we would find that qi and the Living Force are the same thing. Since the Force itself is heavily based on Tao and Taoist cosmology. In the 2008 The Clone Wars series, we were eventually treated to a story arc that prominently featured a Tai Chi symbol on a mystical world inhabited by Force demi-gods.

In that Clone Wars series, as distinct from the 2004-2005 series that was done by the creator of Samurai Jack, we often see feats akin to anything in wuxia even by ordinary martial artists done by non-Force-using characters like bounty hunters. Stuff that is essentially qing gong. So, a Jedi or Sith or other such Force-using individual would be closer to a wuxia hero trained in neigong.

Jedi and Sith abilities are showcased more in TCW, and are more impressive than the films. George Lucas, and now Disney, consoder TCW equal canon with the films. GL directed and actively engaged in the production of TCW.

I think Jedi would be a more evolved version of what we see in wuxia. If our wuxia heroes' use of qi is limited to the internal, this is akin to the Jedi ability of Control. That's entirely about the Force in themselves. What the Jedi tend to have over the wuxia heroes is Alter. Their ability to influence the Force all around them regularly and consistently, at will. Even the most average Jedi can do this.

The future of Star Wars should be interesting going forward from here. The EU has been officially swept away from any official canon, the canon tiers are gone now. All the comics, novels and games have been made an alternate storyline called "Legends." All books and comics going forward from now on are crafted under the supervision of a Story Group and will be one cohesive continuity with the films and TV shows. So whatever we get is what we get.

I think Jedi would come out on top 9 times out of 10, but that's mainly because I see them as having been an evolution on their universe's versions of wuxia heroes on various planents, along with mystics, monks, sages and magicians.
