You'd be amazed, but fans of the Chinese Historical classic, will note that the supreme advisor to Liu Bei, and highly intelligent Zhuge Liang, said a similiar thing when he requested the help/assistance from the Wu Kingdom headed by Sun Quan.

    I thought the aliens are the humanoids while the predators are those snakey things with legs. o.o;

    Anyway the ending was real sad and ironic. Woods tried every means to keep herself alive only to find herself in the very same situation all over again - death. @.@;

And I've enjoyed this movie so far. Sad though that everyone's dead.

Well, I suppose the Ice Breaker is somewhere around..., more than once she had advise the ailing weyland to go back to it ..

I guess it's not much of a problem for her to made it back , she had faced worst (like that mountain range devoid of life she was climbing the beginninig )

With that sharp Predator spear, she can kill some penguins for a coat and food..

I thought they flew an airplane over from the icebreaker... Don't really remember...

    But I does hope that she doesn't have to man it all alone. u.u;

AVP is one of those movies where everybody dies except for the main character, just like predator in arnold schwarzenger (sp) and also commando

Well I've just watch Predator, and Predator 2, along with Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection... all in preparation of AVP coming out on 30 Sept in Aus.

I must say though, I still wonder to this day, why the Alien never just grabbed Sigourney Weaver's character and caccooned her like they do with the rest of the humans, until the baby Alien inside her is ready to pop out... I mean in Alien 3 she just walks right up to the Alien and it does nothing to her. But then again, that's why these movies aren't to be taken seriously

Also you'd figure from the amount of acid in the sacks of the Aliens that Sigourney's character would get hit with hot acid juice now and again (he.. he...)

Didnt anyone notice the alien that bursts out of the predator at the end is a Hybrid Predator Alien? Alien3, Dog gets impregnated = hybrid alien dog. And normal aliens that come from humans have the same biped body stucture as a human

Just saw AVP - I must say it was

Just wish there was a bit more blood, action, and gruesome scenes... I kinda get the feeling that the Foxs producers cut a lot of the stuff out - you can tell by the way the scene just abruptly ends and jumps to the next scene when you expect more blood or something gruesome.

I bet there's going to be an R rated special edition of this movie out on DVD. Similiar to another movie (I can't remember which one), but it was released in Cinemas as an 'M' (Mature Adults) movie, but when released on film, it was available in either 'M' or 'R'. You had the choice. I think Predator 2 was one of those movies, along with 'Hanibal', and a couple of other movies had that option.

Also the ending is so obvious. That last surviour actually ends from where they began. There's actually two transports on the ice, and she's walking over to the vehicle after recieving the spear from the Predator.... So I think she's making her way back to the Ice Breaker which is parked not that far away.

Can't wait for AVP2 now.... Also can't wait for the 'R' rated special edition... You know it was supposed to be more guresome, and there's supposed to be more blood..

Yep that Alien/Predator half breed is going to be hard to kill, I can imagine, and we haven't seen the last of the Queen....

I know this will sound nerdy, but I have always been a huge fan of the Aliens series....the newborn chestburster will always have carried on the traits of its host as it would have nabbed its hosts DNA patterns, the PredAlien isn't that old, because its been in the novels and in the 2 PC games, coincidently it is the type of alien you play as in AvP 2: Primal Hunt expansion Pack

As for AvP being uncut, WRONG.

2 scenes were cut from AvP.

The first was where a group of whalers discovred and un-open Predator pod and took it back to their whaling station, the predator is soon released and kills the un-suspecting whalers bar one, named Karl, whom makes a break for safety towards where the Pyramid is located. The Predator soon catches up to him and he runs unto a hut where he finds and alien lying in wait, as it readies to pounce the predator jumps in and kicks Karl aside, shattering his ribs and leaving him to die from injuries and the cold whilst the alien and predator slug it out

    Scene 2
This was in the sarifical chamber scene ((on the AvP site there is actually a screenshot of this as proof it was originally gonna be in the movie)), after Adele says to Thomas that something had punched out of the carcasses chest, Sebastian finds a calcified Facehugger on the floor, and he, Graham and Lex crouch down and try to ponder on its possible origins.

Whether these two scenes will be on a DVD as part of the film or as part of a special feature delete scenes section I don't know.

As to seeing the film, loved it, absolutely loved it. Albeit it was a little short and surprised that 2 Predators were killed off so quickly by the "hero" alien. Also kinda jarred off Adele was the first to experience the fate worse then death, she woulda been a cool character. Cool thing is, that the future/success of AvP2, Alien 5 and Predator 3 all hinged on the success of AvP..considering how well it did, i think the two single franchises will carry on alongside the movie that has really been long over due, but the wait was worth it

And as for Lex getting back and such...gotta remember the most of the vehicles and any plane/chopper they came in on was probably destroyed by the nuke explosion of the predators bomb

And cudos to Lex for bringing forth that famous line "You're one ugly mother ******"

    Hope that helps

    Default Cuts

Sorry i was wrong, there were alot of parts cut.

    Scene 1-Ancient Cambodia.
This scene is as the title says, set in Ancient Cambodia 3000BC, in a dense forest surrounding a pyramid. We start by following a group of hunters, who are hunting a pig but eventually they all get picked off and pulled away into the bushes by an unseen foe. We follow the last hunter to a clearing where he watches a predator and alien battle it out.(Book)

    Scene 2-Antartica 1904
This scene is obviously based at the beginning of the last hunt in Antartica, in which a group of predator comes down in the same drop-pods as seen the movie and attack the whalers in the station, and just before the predator offs the human(left), an alien jumps in and the scene fades away as they fight.(Book, Feature & Soundtrack)

Scene 3- LS12 Moving into Orbit
This scene is just before the one shown in the film, in which we see a person entering the facility and then we watch as he moves the satellite into postition over antartica manually.(Book)

    Scene 4- New Grant
This is set before the introduction of Sebastian in the film, and we get a trip around the dig site, and we find out why Sebastian is here. He is looking for a chamber under the pryamid which contains Egyptian coins, and we later find out his grant is being pulled, which is why hes so desperate for the money.(Book)

Scene 5- Captain of the Ship
This scene is set in the bridge of the ship, just after Lexs Helicopter lands. We are watching her help Miller across the deck and into the ship. In here Quinn also tells the captain abit about Lex, which also points towards a previous encounter.(Book)

Scene 6- Roughnecks vs the Beakers
In this scene Millers is playing about in the equipment and is confronted by Quinn and his team of roughnecks, he insults Miller by calling him a beaker, and Max has to break them up.(Book)

    Scene 7- Charles Condition
In this scene we follow Weyland as he stumbles his way into his room and Max comes to help him. This scene establishs Weyland motives for this trip and creates a bit of sympathy towards him.(Book)

    Scene 8- Dinner Time Chat
This Scene is set before the scene in which Miller, Lex and Sebastian watch the Southen Lights. The gang is in the Dining Hall of the ship, eating dinner and chatting. We learn about Sebastian, and Lex and Quinns relationship in this scene.(Book)

    Scene 9- The Predator Ship
This is an extended scene inside the predator ship, in which we see more of the ship and eventually end in the cryo-chamber and watch as the predators come out of the tubes.(Book)

    Scene 10- The Predator Gods
This scene is set after the predators have geared up. We watch as they pray infront of a statue of a god, holding a lightning bolt.

    Scene 11- Witchs Cauldron
This is a small dialogue between Lex and Sebastian in which she explain what the Pot that they defeat the queen is used for. Seperating whale fat.

    Scene 12- There's A Storm Coming In.
There was a storm coming in and half of this was set on the boat and half at the base. This resulted in the team hiding out in the building, and on the boat they noticed the predator ship.(Book)

    Scene 13- Its Amazing.
Just after the team saw the pyramid, there where some comments swapped which said things about the characters, in a subtle way. Millers child like brain, Sebastian and Thomas's amazement at the proving of so many things they'd thought about before.(Book)

    Scene 14- Scanning the Eggs
After the Queen lays the eggs, a mechanical arm scans them and reveals dead face huggers in the 1st few eggs and places them into a furnace in the other side of the queens chamber.(Book)

Scene 15- Did You Hear Something
After the queens first egg is destroyed she howls in pain and Lex far above her hears the cry and ask: "Did you hear something?". While exploring the Sacrifical Chamber, Sebastian discovers a wall of skulls. Max comments on the brilliance of the surgery done the spine and skulls.Just before they're about to leave the Sacrifical Chamber, a fossiled face hugger falls onto Miller, and the group theorize its an ancient species from long back. On their way out, Miller notices some 'icciles, that turn out to be a petrol of sorts.(Book, Film Still & Trading Cards)

    Scene 15- Who goes there?
Just before the predator attack, Quinn is doing his rounds around the base, and is startled by one of the team.(Book & Trading Cards)

    Scene 16- Unknown Metals
Millers preforms a scan on the shoulder cannon to see what they're made of and it is revealed, they only know 2 of many, and those 2 are found in metorites.(Books)

    Scene 17- Whos Future? Yours?
In this scene Max questions Weyland and his insistance to keep the weapons, and whether its just for weyland and not for everyone.

    Scene 18- The Other Hunters
This scene takes place after the blooding of Scar, and see's another two predators battling away with swarms of aliens. After one is killed, Grid Alien subdues the other, and holds him down while a face-hugger crawls onto his chest. This scene highlights how sadistic the Grid Alien is.(Book)

Scene 19- Score One for the Beakers
After Miller kills the Face Hugger after him, he exclaims: 'Score One for the beakers'. This will have be taken out because the scene that explains what beakers are was also taken out.(Book & Making Off feature)

Scene 20- Wall of the Face Hugger.
After Lex and Sebastian jump across the gap, several Face-Huggers start to climb up towards the duo, after they knock the huggers down the gap, the scene goes to the one in the film, where Sebastian is taken.(Book)

Scene 21- Scar vs Grid Alien
After Scar throws the alien towards Lex, the Grid-Alien comes down on Scar, and the two start to fight. Eventually more aliens come to help Grid, but Scar closes the door by pressing some buttons the wall.(Book)

    Scene 22- Fitting the Armour
After Scar closes the door, he starts to strip away and suit up himself with alien chiten.(Book)

    Scene 23- Infected Brother
On there way out of the pyramid, the duo run into the predator who got infected previously, the chestburster comes out right in front of the pair, and Scar kills it with his Shoulder Cannon. Proberly taken out because the countdown wasn't that long.(Book)

    Scene X: Spikes
The 3 predators are seen working towards these spikes.(Trailer)

Scene X: Grid on the Surface
Well in that single shot, the Grid Alien is shown on the surface near the hanging bodies.(Trailer & HBO Special)

This picture obviously shows Sebastian with a face-hugger wrapped around his face.(Book Stills & Magazine Still)

Man, no wonder the movie was so sort, with so many things being cut from it.

Similiar to the theater release of "Predator 2", I guess the Fox people thought they would make more money by catering it to the PG 13+ crowd, and then release a PG 13+ and then an R+ version of it on VHS/DVD (though these days the R version is the only one you'll find of Predator 2).

So I hope they do release the Director's cut of AVP which I think would be an R rated movie.

PS - Also I noticed that on the movies forum, everyone seems to love the theatre release of the film, I'm a fan of Director's cuts. Because it is the version that the Director wanted to show, and not what those consumer/comercialised producers wanted us to see.

Also as to how the girl will escape, it's a simple trick.

Keep in mind that the crew arrived on the right of screen, the pyramid is on the left.

    1. So all that was destroyed during the nuking was on the left side of the screen. Most of the equipment was outside on the right of screen. That's why there's still 3 speeders avaible intact and the last survivor makes her way to them after recieving the spear.

    2. The explosion would have caused an extereme heat wave that would have been picked up by the satellite (remember it was the heat signature on a statellite image that got them there in the first place). So a crew would be sent out to investigate the cause.

Crew sent to investigate = Beginning of AVP2 prehaps

    Default Hmmm

Well a crew being sent in would be a good way to start, but they gotta intergrated the whole Predalien thingy...hmmmm wonder how they'd do it. As to a directors cut, I'll second that in the fact I would love to see alot of the above parts slipped into a directors cut, even if its not all of em maybe half 75% in and the remaining ones as a Deleted Scenes special feature

Bought the AVP DVD yesterday. The DVD comes with 3 deleted scenes and an 'extended vesion'.

But don't get too happy. The 'extended version' includes only about 5 mins of additional footage (as FOX still wants to cater to a PG 13+ audience). Many of the scenes photographed have NOT been put back into the DVD

I guess I'll wait until they put out the extended R rated version, like Predator 2.
