I believe Yeung Gor's sword was later given to Wong Yung and Kwok Jing. Then the sword was melted and made into the Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre.

Yep. The Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre was forged from the sword that Yang Guo owned but was given to Guo Jing and Huang Rong.

Guo Jing and Huang Rong gave the sabre to his son and the sword to Guo Xiang. Guo PoLu died during the invasion of XiangYang and the sabre was lost. The Heavenly Sword became the treasure of the E Mei School. By the way the Heavenly Swords was once lost by a E Mei expert and found by a local magistrate. The magistrate offered the sword to the Mongolian emperor and he gave it to the prince of RuYang. Mie Jue Shi Tai went to the residence of the prince of RuYang and retrieved the Heavenly Sword. That's why Zhao Min accused the Zhou ZiRuo and the E Mei School for stealing the Heavenly Sword from their residence. (This conservation between Zhao and Zhou took place in the Wan An pagoda).

*The E Mei expert who lost the sword was Mie Jue Shi Tai's elder martial arts brother, Gu HongZi.

Just another note: The reason why Mie Jue Shi Tai hated Yang Xiao was for causing the death of her elder martial arts brother Gu HongZi and mocking the Heavenly Sword. Gu HongZi and Yang Xiao had some grudges between them and they decided to solve this by means of a duel. Gu HongZi knew that his oppenent was young but knew superior martial arts so he went to Mie Jue and borrowed the Heavenly Sword. Mie Jue wanted to go with Gu HongZi to observe the battle, but Gu HongZi told her that both parties agreed they couldn't bring others to the fight. Gu HongZi was a man of his word and kept this agreement. Anyway according to Mie Jue, Gu HongZi was not inferior to Yang Xiao, but Yang Xiao repeatedly used several tricks to mislead Gu HongZi and before Gu could draw the Heavenly Sword he suffered a blow on his chest. Yang Xiao examined the Heavenly Sword for an instant and threw it on the ground scoffing:"A very arrogant name for a sword! In my eyes it is no different to a rust piece of metal!" After he said that he left, Gu HongZi felt ashamed of losing and wanted to return the sword to Mie Jue. But being a proud man and a famous respected martial arts expert he couldn't endure the humilation of Yang Xiao and his defeat to a youngster. So he fell ill and soon died, the rest is told in the previous post.
Mie Jue Shi Tai hated the Ming Sect, especially Yang Xiao for this entire incident, that's why she was furious that Ji XiaoFu was in love with Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao was something in between 20 and 30 years old when he was Yang DingTian's second in command. Around that time he must have defeated Gu HongZi (Mie Jue Shi Tai's elder martial arts brother). Also the brother of Mie Jue Shi Tai (in the sense of blood relatives) was killed by Xie Xun when he run amok killing innocent WuLin persons.
So those were main reasons for Mie Jue Shi Tai to hate the Ming Sect. Plus the fact that she had a sort of blinded fury against this so-called demonic Ming Sect.
Yang Xiao must be 50 odd years in the end of HSDS.

Buhui is only a few year younger than ZWJ. At the end of HSDS, Bu Hui is about 19 years old, ZWJ is about 21/22. When Yang Xiao first met Ji Xiao Fu, he is early 40s. 19 years old plus 40 plus years old SHOULD make Yang Xiao about early 60s at HSDS end. What do you thing?

I'm not an expert in metallurgy, but how on Earth was there enough metal to make TWO weapons from the melted remains of Yang Guo's sword? We must remember that the Dragon Sabre was quite a big weapon and the Heavenly sword was in no way a diminutive little short sword either. I'm just thinking that, if they had to mix another type of metal to compensate for shortage of materials, how can they ensure that the new alloy used for the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre will be as strong as the orginally pure metal of Yang Guo's sword? Wasn't the type of metal of Yang Guo's sword supposed to pretty rare due to it's unique strength and sharpness?

It is stated in the novel, that Guo Jing and Huang Rong used precious metals to mix it.

He must really be handsome for a 60 years old man. And condsidering he could seduce the very young Ji Xiao Fu when he is 40 plus, it is all that remarkable. Ji like Yang because of his looks and romantism and NOT because of his money.

Actually Bu Hui look more like the grand daughter of Yang since she is 40 plus years younger than her father !!

The REASON why Yang Guo's Xuan Tie sword could be made into dragon Sabre and Heavenly Sword is because the Xuan Tie (mysterious metal) is melted and MIX with a large quantity of Xi Fang Jing Jin (Western golden metal).

Whatever happened between Yang Xiao and Ji Xiao Fu, no one knows, except that he captured her and raped her. I had a discussion at some other forum to what was the reason that she fell in love with him, and two main answers came up.

(1)Some believed that it was because he was mature and romantic compared to the childish Yan Li Ting.

(2) It was because Ji Xiao Fu had no other choice becuase her body was already his and she was pregnant. (Traditional view of ancient Chinese women)

(3) This is a stupid one cos they said it was because of his money. But I remember when Zhang Wu Ji first saw him, he was in rough common white linen. So rich or not, I don't know. But it is a stupid one cos it insults Ji Xiao Fu for having an eye for money and Yang Xiao for bribing people with it. <IMG SRC="smilies/curse.gif" border="0">

Along with charbydis, I agree with the first and second reasons of why Ji Xiao Fu fell in love with Yang Xiao. That was one of the reasons why I enjoyed the most recent version of HSDS by TVB more. By adding the romantic element in their relationship, it made more sense.

I agree Yang Xiao must have been a pretty handsome guy to charm so many women including Xiao Fu. Nowadays, turning 40 is not a great marker for old age. Just look at Andy Lau, Tom Cruise and some other folks out there. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

As to why the sabre and sword are breakable only when struck together... it probably has to do with the fact that since they have the same metals and compounds in its forging -- the cutting/sharpness index is about the same.

Actually, you're take on Miu Juet and Gu Hong Zi makes quite a bit of sense. When Gu Hong Zi died, her hatred toward Yang Xiao and Ming Sect grew a hundred fold.

TO WANG CHONGYANG & ATHENA:

I thought Yang Xiao was in his early 40's when Zhang Wuji met him on Kunlun Mountain. Wuji was about 16 then, he then trained Jiuyang Shengong for about five years in a cave. So I think at the end of HSDS, Yang Xiao is late 40's? But I could be wrong, have to check the novel..

It's not likely that Yang Xiao is 60 at the end of the novel. Because when Miejue first appeared in the novel, she was 40 something. She told Ji Xiaofu the story concerning Yang Xiao's duel with Guhongzi. At the time of the duel, Yang Xiao was only a new kid in martial arts town of 20 years old. Now, 60 minus 5 years (Zhang Wuji in cave) would make Yang Xiao around age 55 at the time Miejue tells story to Ji Xiaofu at Butterfly Valley. If Yang Xiao is really 55, then the duel took place more than 30 years ago... We know Guhongzi borrowed Heaven Sword from Miejue, who was already the leader of Emei at that time. But 30 years ago, Miejue was just a teenage girl... how could she hold the position of keeper of the Emei system? So, probably Yang Xiao and Meijue were both in their 40's during the latter half of HSDS, Yang Xiao being a few years younger than Miejue.
