Insane? Maybe not, but I should quality as obsessed. I just like to have what I want and this means buying whatever I can just to please my needs.

Rich? Nah, I would never label myself as rich. I work for every penny I use, I just work for my parents, therefore spend as much as I want to on their bill. Thats the only good thing about working for your parents, while at least mine. LOLZ..

Needless to say, I still want to buy more of her CDs. I got her concert CD and the karaoke, funni, because I wouldnt understand it anyways. LOLZ! I bought it just so I can c the performance!

And yes, I do buy alot of things all at once. I dont like to wait, because it might get out of stock, sold out, or wateve. I dont like to take chances!

I agree, Steven Ma Jing Tao isnt Amy's best male co-star. But their chemistry is better than many others. Amy always seem to make it work, I mean the storyline and their performance in all three series (The Good Old Days, Fated Love, and Love in a Miracle) were amazing... Well, Seven Ma does tend to overreact, but thats very well noted and recognized by many. I guess that is what makes him human, right? HAHAHA, either way Amy had never IMO had bad chemistry with any of her costars.

About "ANYWHERE BUT HERE"

Some of Amy's series that I bought came in on Saturday morning and obviously one of the ones I am waiting to see the most; Anywhere But Here, came. So it was an obvious thing that I've popped it into the DVD player immediately after it came. And YES, I did finish it within these past 3 days. I've lost 2 nights of sleep watching this series, and it’s very worth it..... UNTIL the end, it was rather disappointing, but it’s something that I expected, even though I was told this earlier on, before I've watched the series.

OVERALL, I thought the series was very lighthearted and cute. Honestly this is the only series I've seen that has Amy as the protagonist (Who continually gets hurt by people around her, but yet she, herself, continues to forgive those who've hurt her... It has become a pattern... She does these roles too well... I mean Amy has a very tough outer look, she does this well, but than what she does better is, SHOWING HER VULNERABILITY... She's stellar at what she does, if only she does it more, RIGHT?). Anyways let’s continue with the protagonist thingy, yes, Amy is once again the protagonist, but this character, Katie, has a comedic twist. This little comedic twist, even though she does so involuntarily, makes her character very cute and different, WHICH I LOVE.

Like many of her roles, namely those in; The Good Old Days and Fated Love, Amy portrays as this character who is a PUSH OVER. She always gets hurt countless times by the ones she love, in this case by one of her closest friend, Annie (portrayed by Tanny Tien Niu). IMO Annie’s character became a pain in my butt, she’s very frank and knows what she wants, I respect that, but she became obsessed and too stubborn. I hated Annie for her countless attempts to take Katie’s lover away from her. First it was her husband (portrayed by Tse Kwan Ho), then it was Alex (portrayed by Kenneth Chan).

Honestly, I really love the entire story; I’ve seek and found many comedic scenes that really cracked me up. Many of those scenes started off as a serious scene, then next thing you know someone does or say something really off the subject and makes the atmosphere all better… I like that sequence, it makes the series less up-tight!

kinda confused here, didnt prudence play the girl who's constantly competing with katie? the one who became katie's best friend quarter way thru the series (man, it was torture for me to endure those scenes) and later tried to snatch alex away from her?

I honestly love the two characters portrayed by Amy Chan (Katie) and Prudence Lau (Maggie) I thought these two characters are the best!

Now let’s discuss about the 3 Ladies’ Character: (Maggie, Annie, and Katie)

Maggie Ma– Portrayed by Prudence Lau:
IMO Prudence’s character was one of the better and luckier ones; I mean her life is so simple and so utopian-like. Sometimes I really think that if everyone in the world would live like Maggie does, then, the world would not be in such a bad condition. I mean, even tough she’s not bright, she lives her life with a simple idea that, “THERE’S ALWAYS A REASONABLE ANSWER TO WHY THINGS HAPPENS THE WAY THEY DO.” What I like most about her is that she doesn’t jump into conclusion; she’ll always ask you why you did the things you do. Her questionings becomes annoying, but that’s rare and very innocent. This character is very lucky, I mean she has two best friends that’ll let go of all their problems to worry about her, a husband of 10 years (though cheated on her, she still saw herself as a very HAPPY woman for a good 10 years), and a lover, I’ll use Viet name Tu Sanh (portrayed by Gabriel Hoi). In her very long life, the only big problem she ever had was when her husband cheated on her. Though she was cheated on, she still had her friends and lover by her side. Tu Sanh never gave up on her, and in the end she became the only one who’s truly ever happy. I admire her lifestyle and everything about her innocence. SHE’S SO LUCKY!

Maggie is the funniest and most childish in the trio. She became a headache very often and because of her “slowness’ she’d caused many problems to magnify, but every time this happens she would make it better. IMO she became the cornerstone of the trio’s friendship, this is due to her never being able to hold grudges. I just love this aspect of her life, it’s so cute!

I enjoy watching this character develop over the course of her divorce. At first when Maggie came into the series, I thought “WOW, WHAT A CRAZY WOMAN! How can such a bright and successful business woman like Katie make such a weird friend?” But after watching her display and care towards her two best friends during their time of need, I realize that if I had a friend like Maggie, I’ll be willing to take 10 years off my lifespan. Maggie is such a pleasure to have around; its no wonder Katie treasures her so much. She’s just so ADORABLE.

Prudence Lau’s Performance:
I really enjoy watching Prudence deliver this character, she does it so well. I’ve never doubted Prudence as an actress, though I’ve never loved her, I would never say I hate her. She’s always done a good job, but here her character is one of the ones I fell in love with quickest. It’s really funny, I thought her love story with Gabriel was really nice and completely true. It proves that age is only a number. I honestly loved Gabriel’s devotion (this I will discuss later). Overall out of 10 stars I give Prudence’s performance a 9.5 she was totally convincing as a crazy psycho maniac with a pure of gold. She’s just great!

Annie Bac – Portrayed by Tanny Tien Niu
Honestly of the three characters the one I dislike the most is Annie, isn’t it obvious? If you’ve seen the series you’ll understand what I mean. Her actions are so childish (not in the cute and innocent way Maggie’s character is), Annie’s actions are very thoughtless, self-centered and hurtful. I mean even Maggie (as carefree as she is) had agreed that Annie’s actions are too stubborn and unreliable.

When I was watching the series Saturday night I really liked the story and its development, and trust me I continued because it’s a very interesting storyline. But I was frustrated with Annie.

At first I was ok with Annie, because though she did steal Katie’s husband (portrayed by Tse Kwan Ho) I do agree with what she said to Katie “If there wasn’t a problem with your marriage to begin with, my interference would never damage and broken your marriage with him.” This is one of the best things she said! She was right, therefore I don’t hate her. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like her for what she did, but she had a point. Yes, even though she had that point to make, she still was at fault for continuing to lie and play along with the affair. Alright, after the affair had broken off, I began to admire her willfulness, because she left Tse Kwan Ho after realizing that “If he could lie to Katie about loving her forever, he can also turn and bite her in her behind and lie to her the same way he did to Katie.”

OK, so she breaks off the relationship with Tse, but what did she do? Turned and work for Katie. (HAHAHA) I loved those scenes when they first started to work together, it was so funny! I understand that both Katie and Annie only agreed to work together to piss each other off, in hopes that one of them would defeat and weaken the other, proving once and for all that each individual is stronger and better.

Honestly during their beginnings working together and through all those bickering and word arguments Katie and Annie exchanged I began to like Annie more and more. I got to the point where I became less upset with her becoming the third party. Especially after:
1) The episodes where Annie’s father (who was head of a gang) was threatening to hurt whoever sheltered Annie. After Katie yelled at Annie’s father over the phone, I begun to feel that Katie has forgiven Annie already and slowly accepting her as a good friend. That was cute how Annie reacted when Katie had the worried look when she was yelling at Annie’s father.
2) The episode on Valentine’s Day. I thought it was cute how Katie and Annie wanted to give each other’s gift but was afraid to ask one another, and came to Maggie, who knew nothing. This was when the trio became the trio. It was so cute, even though Katie and Annie refuse to admit they’ve started to like each others as friends.
3) The episodes where the trio thought Annie was pregnant. Those episodes really got to me. I began to fall for all 3 ladies. Annie’s looks and worries when she knew that if she was pregnant she’d hurt her new friend Katie, made me feel sorry for her. I thought she had changed so much then. I can feel the strong connections between the two, though they still haven’t really admitted to each other that they really cherish each other. Annie’s decision to have an abortion shook me, but we all know the ending. Katie’s kindness during this episode made me really LOVE her character (reminds me of The Good Old Days – with Sheren, the entire miscarriage thing… SO SAD!). After this episode the two became real good friends, I would definitely remember that if I was Annie, arrggggggggh!

It was obvious that my liking towards Annie began to change after about midway through the series. It’s funny because just when I began to really like Annie, I started to hate her. This is all thanks to her fake attitude. I know she’s frank and has a “If I want it, I’ll fight for it with all I’ve got attitude” but that became a burden and the cause to so many mishaps.

Just when everything was going smoothly, Alex (portrayed by Kenneth Chan) showed up. (Oh, what a hottie he really is) Anyways, everyone knows that Kenneth really likes Katie (3 years prior to his return he promised to take her away, that was when she was married). Ok, so after hearing she’s divorce he dives in for a try. She continually rejects him. YES, I know Katie dropped her chance at love. So its just fair that Annie steps in. RIGHT? No wrong! She should’ve at least talked with her “FRIEND” (if friendship really means anything to her) about her wanting to court Alex. I know Katie and Alex never started, but it’s only fair that, knowing Alex was in love with Katie, Katie would know that Annie wanted to be with Alex. Instead Annie dates Alex without anyone’s well-being. If Annie really cherishes their friendship, she would have told everyone about her new love instead of making the relationship turn in so many corners.

OK, Annie cannot be blamed for loving Alex, HE’S HOTT, I know! So, I was ok with her dating him. So they date, its ok, I mean Katie did reject him first.

But when Alex pushed Katie in the office to get Katie’s workers to understand her, Annie releases that Alex still has feelings for Katie and the same goes with Katie to Alex. This was when she starts to tick me off. She deliberately seeks to destroy Alex’s and Katie’s feelings towards each other. Her actions became selfish and mischievous. So both Maggie and Annie realize Katie is developing feelings for Alex, so she goes on vacation with him. Knowing it’ll hurt Katie (ok, this might only be because she really likes Alex, but the entire thing could’ve been resolved before Katie got hurt if only she would’ve told Katie her feelings).

I felt sorry for Katie (more will be discussed when I get to Katie).

I BELIEVE IN KARMA, DO YOU? It was great, sweet fate and karma came. Alex dumps Annie, knowing that his feelings for her are nothing compared to the true fact that he only really truly loves Katie. Thus, Annie gets angry. Yeah, so she goes back to the hotel to work again. So, here she goes again like always, causing more trouble, she develops a bad relationship with the chef boss (Trinh Han). Its only right that Trinh Han wants to fire Annie to cut back the hotel’s spending, but no, Katie, being a good friend tries to help Annie by telling her to take care of the MV recording to get Trinh Han to recognize Annie’s talents. BUT GUESS WHAT, no matter how hard Katie tries, Annie’s attitude can’t keep problems to come. After ruining so much and causing Trinh Han to hate her even more, Annie becomes helpless when she framed Katie for taking revenge on her (because Alex dumped her because he still loves Katie… Katie didn’t know this). She framed Katie for trying to ruin her career by telling her to take that project, not knowing that Katie was only trying to help her not get fired. OK, so Annie redeemed herself by admitting fault that she was being a brat and didn’t know how to cherish her friendship (SO TRUE), but that doesn’t go as an excuse for her being a jerk.

Ok, so Alex comes back and Katie says she has no feelings for him. Alright, Katie is lying, but she doesn’t know. She honestly thought that she didn’t love him. She thought she was over him. So when they started hanging out Annie becomes mad and suspicious so she hires a detective to track Katie’s action (which is so disloyal in Annie’s part, for not trusting Katie). Again she hurts Katie by framing her that she was dating Alex, when Katie was only helping Alex with his family problems. Ok, so with all that Katie and Alex starts to date.

After that, Annie leaves wants to move out and use the excuse that she might have a tumor in her brain (she did believe she have it, AT FIRST) to get together with Alex. THIS IS WHERE I CANNOT FORGIVE HER!

OK, she tells Alex she might have a brain tumor…

First - She lies to Alex and said it’s almost Katie’s B-day so they’ll throw her a fake b-day party, just to get close to him. This caused Katie to feel her relationship is rocky, because Alex keeps saying he’s too busy with work that he neglects Katie.
Second – When she knew she didn’t have brain cancer she lied to him and tell him she is dying and has 6 months to live ad makes him promise not to tell Katie. Therefore made Katie suspicious that he’s going with Annie.
Third – After knowing Annie has cancer Alex agrees to go to Japan with her for 3 months, and explain to Katie Annie’s situation. Alex decision made Katie angry and hurts her a lot, but she agrees.
Fourth – Not sure whether or not Annie is lying Katie hires a detective (who was working for Annie as well) to find out if she really has cancer. Annie told the detective to give her a fake paper saying she really had terminal cancer. This was the final straw to me! I cannot believe she did that to Katie!

After knowing Annie had cancer Katie began to feel like she’s a scumbag by hiring a detective (Oh if she only knew!!!). So Katie sends Annie a tape, this tape was so touching. In the tape Katie says “After Alex told me you had cancer I thought to myself that if you really had cancer you’ll be gone in a few short months, my worries would be put away. But I was unsure so I hired a detective, now I feel cheap for using such a way and not believing you. After I knew your current situation, I am not happy. I am afraid. I don’t want to lose you, you are my friend. I know that no matter what you are my friends and I can never hate you. After knowing this, I cannot bear with myself. I hope you can continue to live a happy life. I hope the next 3 months would help you ease down and be happy, enjoy yourself.” (Something like that)…

Even with that Annie doesn’t stop with her nasty actions. IT’S DISGUSTING!

From thence, I find it hard to forgive Annie.

Tanny Tien Niu’s Performance:
Tanny was convincing as Annie, but IMO she isn’t pretty enough. LOLZ! I thought she was really ****ty though, which was good, Annie is supposed to be ****ty. Overall good performance, she really made me hate her. HAHAHA. I thought her chemistry with Amy was good. I love it when they bickered, its cute!

HAHAHA... I liked Katie at the beginning when she was seeking revenge too. LOLZ! But I really liked Katie for accepting Annie. I didnt think it was too good. I never hated Annie for stealing Tse, I thought she did well. And her accpetence into the circle proves that Katie can take it. The fact that KAtie still holds grudges agasint Annie's action by stealing her hubby proves that Katie is only human (definitely nt too goo to b true, unlike her character in TGOD and FL). Katie is more humane and really gets jealous.

Do you remember the scene at the end where Katie slaps Annie for lying to her about having cancer? I can feel Katie's pain (both b/c of Annie's evil plan and because she trusted Annie). I was waitting for that smack since Annie became unreasonably obsessed, up to the pt where she begins to abandon her friendship.

well, you can say im not a really forgiving person i saw ABH in 2000, so you can say my memory is a bit slacking, but there is no mistaking on how i feel towards annie. she's like a snake, waiting to bite you at the perfect precise moment, when youre not looking. i cannot even make myself to like her when she's in Katie's circle. honestly, i want that chick to suffer.....her arrogance just ticks me off....i just knew she's a bad seed, no matter how good she was with Katie and Maggie. i hate her, just for the very fact that she doesnt regret whatever it is that she did, no matter how wrong it is. and even if she did, i knew she was fake. lol maybe i was being too judgmental? duh whatever, this character just not meant to be liked by me. and if i were Maggie i wouldve strangled Annie for Katie obviously not happening!

the only attraction of this story is Amy Chan and that Maggie character. Kenneth's acting wasnt all that convincing (no offense, obviously you are really into him), and Annie, although she managed to make me hate her, that would prove that the actress was doing a great job, i just dont think she's suitable for the role. So yeah she fits the arrogant, confident looking woman, but heck, come on, she fits more to be a triad boss girlfriend la.....definitely not a sophisticated, careered woman. she's just not elegant enough, or so to say, not convincing enough to fit the profile. she's really good at being a ***** tho....Somehow i keep thinking of Young and Dangerous and the the Mean Street Story whenever i saw her face.

LOLZ! Not forgiving? Who am I to judge? I just think that there are some things to admire about Annie's character. In a way I like her arrogence. I think being straight forward in business is completely rare, most people put on a mask every seconds of their life, but no Annie presents a small population who says and does what she likes. I admire that aspect of Annie's life. As I told my sister, she's very different and interesting. "Annie's entitled to be stubborn, hardheaded, over the top, arrogent, and hurtful, but one thing is for sure, SHE ABUSED HER PRIVILAGES... Thus caused me to HATE HER GUTS!"

I agree with you on the fact that Annie doesnt look suitable for the career type woman. LOLZ! REMEMBER she is the daughter of a gangster and known to be a player. I don't think that's what the series is trying to present her as. She's supposed to be the BAD ASSS ONE, which was very convincing. The series does teach you not to judge a book by its cover. Maybe Annie is arrogent and thinks for herself moreso than anyone, but its never a doubt that she really has talents, even tough she tends to neglect her work. But when the time comes, she does her job very well. Of course her work isnt as formal, lawful, organized and sophisticate as Katie, who is extremely good at what she does.

All I am saying is that I do find Annie's character to be interesting, well, up until she became obessed with stealing Alex back. Yikes, she was a real B***H! I still cannot forgive her for that, even at the end, where Katie forgave her. I know she really loves Alex, but LOVE DOESNT MEAN Yu HAVE TO HAVE HIM IN YOUR POSSESSION, that's greed!
