    Profile

    Male champion of All-Asian Star Search '99, Singapore's bi-annual regional talent search, Jeff left a lasting impression on everyone's minds with his comedic portrayal of General Crab during the finals of the competition. Jeff's debut performance was that of a radio deejay who has an unconventional outlook on love in Sensitive New Age Guy. His suave, tanned and manly features combined with his sensitive new age mindset has certainly raised his popularity with the audience.

    Coming from a strong background in singing, having won several singing competitions organised by major recording labels & TV station including Polygram and TVBS, Jeff fulfils his dream of a singing career with a compilation album for MediaCorp Music as part of the boyband, PEACE.

    Since his foray into the entertainment industry, some of his roles include that of a photographer in Adam's Company where he acted against popular Hong Kong actor, David Wu. Besides comedy roles, Jeff has also convincingly played the role of a tough but impulsive cop who tackled complex criminal cases in the Chinese drama serial The Invincible Squad.

    Jeff is also the co-host of City Beat, MediaCorp's award-winning entertainment variety programme. Through his sporty and lively personality, Jeff has injected fresh ideas into City Beat, making the programme more vibrant and entertaining.

    Interesting. Phyllis seems to be in almost every of such production. She reminds me of Fann Wong, only more tired looking. Is she still with Mediacorp?

    da azn devil,

    Do you have a picture? I don't think it was Michelle Chia. There was no news about it in the local media.

    Funn,

    I read that Phyllis is managed by an external company with affliations with Mediacorp. So in a way she may still appear in Mediacorp's future productions. Funny that you mentioned she reminds you of Fann Wong, that's what the taiwanese media says too. Though strangely, I've never had that thought. hmm.

    Speaking of actresses who look like Fann Wong, Malaysian Ong Ai Leng (you know her?), had recently joined Mediaworks. She's another one who looks like Fann Wong.

    ok dw about my question. i've just done some quick research and it isn't michelle chia after all. my bad.
    the person i was thinking about was yu fei hong. she's a bit older than michelle. but i do think they look a like.
    i couldn't find pics of yu fei hong, but wen i put dagger lee in to watch again, i compared her to the pics of michelle, and i realised they were two diff pplz.

    Ong Ai Leng? Heard of Soong Ai Leng but Ong Ai Leng not that familiar. You got a picture of her?

    You know everybody seems to look like Fann Wong isn't it and yet Fann Wong doesn't have that universal look. Don't get me wrong. She is my most favourite SIngaporean actress, and one of my most favourite anywhere and I do think she is gorgeous. One of those who is more beautiful as you look at her again and again. Too thin though. Now what's funny is I remember reading laods of bad press about her years before and now suddenly she is the media's darling. Quite a change.

    Any other actresses/actors in foreign production? Maybe introduce some who were with MediaCorp/MediaWorks but left, and now in some really really foreign production with no connection to these two companies. Wonder who really made it?

    There is a picture of Ong Ai Leng here, somewhere in the middle of the page.

    I have some screencaps of her too in the "Seventh Month" thread. She appears in Episode 2.

    I think I've covered most of the recent Chinese productions. There is another group of local actors, namely those who primarily act in English productions and theatre.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/mnt/media/image/launched/2004-07-11/jystar1-175722.jpg')

    Lim Kay Siu and Neo Swee Lin .

    Both of them acted opposite Chow Yun Fat and Jodie Foster in "Anna and the King". They are also husband and wife.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/mnt/media/image/launched/2004-07-11/jystar1-175700.jpg')

    Lim Kay Tong

    Kay Tong is Kay Siu's brother. He has many cameos in Hollywood films.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/mnt/media/image/launched/2004-07-11/jystar1-175648.jpg')

    Ivan Heng

    Mainly in theatre. But once acted as an evil henchman to Gary Oldman's character in Luc Besson's "The Fifth Element".

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/mnt/media/image/launched/2004-07-11/jystar1-175629.jpg')

    Adrian Pang

    Had a small part acting opposite Brad Pitt in "Spy Game". I still remember it was in the beginning of the film.

    Here's an article about Singaporeans in Hollywood.

    There's also Lydia Look.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://sgezine.com.sg/pixs/0104living_home_family.jpg')

    I've only seen her on "Ally Mcbeal", acted as Ling Woo's (Lucy Liu) sister.

    http://sgezine.com.sg/living/0104home_family.html

    And then there's Michelle Goh

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.michellegohonline.com/images/photos_2/fhm_cover.jpg')

    Was discovered by Eric Khoo and acted in a local film "Mee Pok Man". Went on to some of Mediacorp's (then TCS) productions. Now she's based in Canada. Here's her official website.

    Does M. Nasir count? Is he still Singaporean? Hmm

    That's Ong Ai leng? Doesn't look a bit like Fann. I mean "ham chim peng" face (as in flat face), pointy chin and thin frame doesn't make one a fann wong. Is she good?

    M Nasir is singaporean? Maybe still is because people hardly become a Malaysian if he is a singaporean unlike the vice versa. But no Malays or Malaysians in Malaysia. I want to know more of Malaysians in Singapore please. It always pleases me to know there are successful Malaysians abroad, especially in Singapore because I can never recognise them. Meaning Singaporeans and Malaysians, both the same.

    well, firstly,
    florence has already played xiao zhao, so chances of her being chosen again are quite low.
    and phyllis, well i think she's bit old to play zhou zhiruo. yin so so was gud for her though.
    next, i think this may be the wrong thread to ask that question.

    I agree that mediacorp might not cast her as xiao zhao again. Here's my suggestion of who to be who
    zm - $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://ch8.mediacorptv.com/imagegallery/store/phpjm4YBS_s.jpg')
    zzr - yvonne lim
    zwj - erm still thinking of a fresh face
    xiao zhao - not sure
    ding mei juan - Dai Qianyun
    yan xiao's wife - florence tan <== another sad role for her

    No news yet in the local media. I wonder which station will TVB work with, MediaCorp or Mediaworks?
