It's the mastoid nodes right? I will add more when I figure it out, posterior triangle? let me go to my anat book

Whether the bump is mobile and what it seems to be attached to. The texture and feel of the lump. The shape of the bump, regularity and clear border.

So viral and chronic infection you won't get painful nodes? Do you get nodal enlargement with HIV and syphilis?

    Maybe I should PM you.

my sister has a bump growing on her hand. just above the wrist. it actually feels like bone...but it's getting bigger. not pink or anything. just looks like a regular hand until you feel it and then there's that big hard lump. i think she's going to see a doctor soon anyways. but i was just wondering what it could be. she says it doesn't hurt unless you push down on it.

    Hey Han,

You know those blood-pressure test machines at pharmacies.

What does it mean if your Systolic is 121 and your Distolic is 70; and Pulse rate 87?

They say Prehypertension is 120-139 for Systolic and distolic anything Below 80 is Normal.

Do you have any tidbit to add to this?

Just meant that your blood pressure is normal.

These figures were considered ideal not 3 years ago, but the medical communities have changed the guidelines in order to promote a lower target blood pressure in order to reduce the impact of cardiovascular diseases.

Two other things, single measurement of blood pressure is not reflective of the range of blood pressure that you have as there are circardian variations and many physiological factors that can affect it.

The second thing is that these blood pressure machines tends to have a +/- 5% accuracy, and it is more accurate in measuring the mean bloood pressure, rather than the systolic or diastolic blood pressure.

You shouldn;t get painful LN for viral infections.

As to chronic infections, it depends on whether it is bacteria suppurative or not.

You do get LN enlargement with HIV and there are different stage of HIV/AIDS that you can get LN enlargement, and it can come and go at will.

Ganglions are not dangerous, no sir, they are not.

Most treatment are expectant and conservative, rarely you go for surgery.

Q for Dr.Han : Sometimes, when your eye swells up, is it because one of your eyelashes might have fallen out and some debris got stuck in the follicle? It seems like this happens to me every year and it eventually goes away but sometimes it stays for weeks!

Then my parents do that rice thingy, where you put some hot rice wrapped up in a towel and place it over the eye... its painfully hot

What is the ideal ph level of a human's body? I've heard a couple of people said an acidic body is the cause of a lot of disease and so, they advice taking in more alkaline food to balance out.

    Hey Han,

What's a healthy/normal number (of times) for urinating per day? When should people be worried if it's a bladder problem? Because it made me curious as in the commercials that "I got to go" commercial made it seem like people with bladder problems go every five mins. or something. So can you clarify?

she asked her doctor about her thyroid bc she had thyroid problems before. he ordered some blood tests for her...and then never got back to her, so she assumes there's no problem there. -_- yeah, i think she should really consider changing her doctor.

Can you elaborate? Does your eye feel irritated/itchy/looks red? Is it painful?
Where is the inflammation? Is it in the margins of the lids, near side of nose? When do you get it each year?
Could be inflammation of lashes and its follicles which lead to blocked glands. Can be treated with antibiotics. Check with your GP if you get it often. No idea about the rice, maybe just increase circulation to flush away the inflammatory toxins.

Which part of the body? I assume you mean blood, blood pH should be between 7.35 and 7.45 (normally 7.40+/-0.02). A lot of disease can cause a change in the balance of body pH (so shifting the balance scale) which can cause further problems, even death. Classified as either metabolic or respiratory. Not sure about the taking the alkaline food part - sounds like chinese medicine, or holistic treatment. Treatment involves correcting the problem so the balance is restored.

Depends on how much one drinks. Normally 4-5 times during day, and 0-1 at night.

If there isn't an increase daily urine volume (so each time you pee quite little), then it could be something irritating the bladder (such as inflammation, stones), reduce capacity (pregnancy, tumors), could be urinary tract infection/irritant, prostate enlargement, or neuro-psych problem.

If there is an increase in daily urine volume, that's polyuria and diabetes is a common cause.

When should you be worried? I guess if it's becoming troublesome, and if you notice there's little urine coming out each time, or if you large volumes are produced each day. Depends whether it's sudden change or gradual, and how you compare with your past.

    Hope that helps.
