my doctor left me a voicemail saying that my blood test results are in, and asked me to give him a call back. i'm thinking this is a bad sign, right? because if everything were hunky dory, wouldn't i have just gotten a letter or maybe a short message saying everything is ok?

Is this the first time you are having your blood tested? If not, has there been a precedence of the doctor sending you a letter or a short message to say that everything is fine? When I had a blood test done as a follow-up to some earlier treatment, the doctor still wanted to see me even though the results showed that everything was fine. So don't give yourself any unnecessary worry until you see the doctor. If you are still concerned, you might want to bring someone with you when you go, like a family member or close friend.

no, it's not the first. i actually had a blood test about 2 months ago, and I got a letter. and before, when i was having some problems, i had my blood tested every other month, and i never even got a letter or a call back.

it's probably nothing. one of my friends suggested that i might be anemic...though i don't know how she would know. do i have an anemic look? what does someone with anemia look like?

I have no idea. But here are a couple of sites to tide you over until Han Solo and/or yittz show(s) up:
    1. MedlinePlus Encyclopedia: Anemia
    2. Understanding Anemia: Basics -- There's a link to Symptoms at the bottom of the article.

But don't be unduly concerned at the moment. Unnecessary worry just makes the situation worse, as it can and does interfere with how you will eventually receive/perceive and respond to the doctor's message, especially when the circumstances turn out to be less-than-savory.

i'm actually not worried. more curious.

i wonder if anemia runs in the family? because i remember my sister was anemic when she was a toddler. we ate a lot of liver for dinner in those days. hmm...but i think she might have got it from chewing on window sills with lead paint. -_-

Anaemia is a condition of which there are various causes. Some are inherited, some are acquired (although family members may have similar exposure, akin to running in the family).

The description you provided of your sister is pica, and it may be associated with iron deficiency - a cause of anaemia.

Many females are mildly anaemic - as the most common cause of anaemia is blood loss due to periods.

What makes your friend think you are anaemic - are you pale (especially palm creases, eye lids), do you feel tired all the time?

well, i've always been death pale, but i think that's more of a genetic thing. old chinese ladies say being pale is a good thing.

Is it normal to bleed "black" blood during menstruation? This has never happened to my friend before. Though, she has been under a lot of stress lately and have not been eating properly, so I'm assuming this might be the reason. If so, is there anything that she can eat or take immediately to help correct the problem?

Thanks, it just seems strange that it occurs three days in a row. Anyhow, I told her to consult her doctor.

    hello drs. yittz and han,

what do you recommend for under eye circles, besides more sleep? i tried a cream from chanel that costs $65 for a tiny little tube. i dabbed a little on my hand and it turned it red, so i declined purchasing it from the helpful girl at macy's. which creams actually work? what ingredients should i look for? i just want to get rid of color; there's no puffiness.

Seriously, lol, sleep more and you wouldn't look like bags and cats.

I don't dabble with comestics and can't advise you otherwise.

Maybe yittz can help- but he's having exams at the current moment.

    Hi Docs,
Any home remedies for the common cold? You know, the runny nose, coughing, cold sweat, fever etc. I hate Doctors...errr I meant Doctor bills.

Always liked mom's chicken soup with the herbs.(they call it all medicine lol) But she can't cook for me always.

Also heard warm whiskey, honey, and lime but never tried.

Ofcourse these may help but Im not sure about curing.?
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

There's no cure for the common cold - people just have to get through the course of the disease. The management of common cold is purely symptom control - so the runny nose, coughing etc. can be alleviated somewhat by medications. So for you, whatever makes you feel better during the course of disease - if that's chicken soup (I am not sure how important the herbs are), or whiskey/honey/lime. Imo, find methods that are easy for you to do while you are feeling crap. There are probably no evidenced based study, since there will be no funding to do one.

You don't need to see a doctor if it's just a typical common cold.

What to do when you're over stuffed with turkey?
I'm so full that I think my tummy will pop open.

Ogakira, I just got over my cold too.
You know what made me feel better?
Snuggling up with my bf on the sofa in front of the fireplace.
My bf made me chicken soup, and a little honey in my tea was good too.
And a lot of sleeping helps.

    Hope you feel better!

    Overstuffed with turkey...
Prevention is always the best measure - so remember this feeling next time you are stuffing yourself with turkey.

I am not actually sure lol - rub your stomach while sitting up. And then walk around if you feel you are up to it.
