Cool how the forum doctors are both from Australia. Kinda flies in the face of that world IQ chart thing.

Yeah. I'll find out when Kay is leaving and I'll put something together before then. What are you up for? Bars, karaoke, bowling, badminton, what sounds fun to you?

I was crossing the street when the car turned and hit me. I got hit on my left side and I assume the front or side of my shoulder hit the windscreen. I'm pretty sure it popped backwards.
I found I could minimise the pain best by sitting, leaning away from the shoulder and crading the elbow to take any weight off it. Lying down hurts because I was lying on the shoulder.
They took X-rays before and after they set it back.
How they did it was in their words:
"We're going to make you do most of the work, and we'll help you through it. We're going to hold your arm straight, and slowly lie you down, and hopefully your shoulder will realign itself. What's important is that you relax the shoulder, and no jerking movements. Some patients can't handle it and have to be sedated, we'll see how you go"

Surely enough, it worked. It went back in while I was easing myself down. The doctor holding my arm out. I didn't feel anything, but they said that they just saw it moved. When they let go, the chronic pain and pressure was gone. It hurts here and there, but it was much better and I could lie down. Any details you want in particular?

They took X-rays of the front of my shoulder, and from an angle.

BP varies from time to time. It's dependent on the instrument or the assessor. It's a bit odd to consistently stay lower with no change other than weight gain. Nothing to worry about, 120 over 80s is good.

There's LDLs and HDLs in terms of cholesterol. Total cholesterol includes both. HDL is the good cholesterol, so you want that high, while LDL is the bad cholesterol. So if you look at your LDL:HDL ratio, yours should be quite low, which is excellent.

Runners pulse - do you do a lot of cardio work out?
i try to stay healthy, so i do cardio twice a week, light weight training twice a week, and kung fu twice a week. ironic that i have "runners" pulse bc i suck at running. sigh, but with all the exercise, i'm still not fit.

but yeah, my doctor wants me to lose weight. she made me go to a nutritionist, who told me to eat more. -_-

My friend told me she's been sick on and off for three weeks now. She went to the doctor and the doctor said she doesn't have the flu or cold. But she has the sore throat, body ache, fever, chill, fatigue, headache. Is it something in her diet or she lacking vitamins or something? She told me she had her blood test and everything but she doesn't know what she has. Any of the doctor in the house can decipher her problem?

    Dear doctors,

Firstly, are these combination of symptoms H1N1 or is it just regular flu?

    1) sore throat, 2) slight fever, 3) cold and 4) mild cough.

Secondly, if someone is "stubborn" enough to not see a doctor, what do you suggest to consume would help to improve the above symptoms? Preferrably non-medical remedy?

    Thank you in-advance.

The only way to distinguish regular flu and H1N1 flu is via lab testing.

Unless you are talking about cold which is an upper respiratory tract infection, not caused by the influenza virus.

There really are no non-medical treatment that are really effective. Rest and lots of fluids +/- chicken soup is what is generally thought to work. As well as hot toady.

    Sup Docs!

Besides getting the person medical attention as soon as possible, is there anything a person can do to help someone having a stroke/heart attack to help suppress it? Or is it pretty much in God's hands?

    As always...thanks for your enlightenment.

    Many thanks, Han!

Just FYI, I forgot to add this among the symptoms: tiredness (clearly not due to work and is something only happened recently with the other symptoms ) By adding this probably doesn't help much though.

    Thank you again!

    Call ambulance.

Do not bring them to the hospital yourself if it is thought they have a heart attack.

If they normally take some medications for chest pain, then try to give it to them.

Lie them down on a bed may be helpful too.

Speed to hospital, speed in calling for help is the main thing.

i heard for heart attack, you should give the person an aspirin while waiting for the ambulance. is that true?

Why are liver shots so painful? It is generally agreed on by fighters that liver shots the worse pain you will feel in your life.

I understand that the liver filters out toxins and it is a very large organ. But why so much pain? Is there alot of nerve endings at the liver? Or is the pain associated with the disrupted organ function?

Generally true, except not all chest pain is due to heart attack or angina, and thus giving aspirin b4 the cause of the pain is sorted out is not generally recomended.

    Never heard of it before.

Liver pain, in my experience, pales in severity to many other types of pain.

Not pain in the liver, but being hit in the liver. The worse kind of pain you can get in a fight. They say you feel it all over the body.

How do you tell apart staph infection from other stuff that happens to the skin. And is staph infection just a result of poor hygeine and open wounds?

i thought the worst pain, at least for a guy, is getting hit in the nuts? in kung fu, they tell us getting hit in the armpit really hurts too. i wonder if that's true. seems so strange.

The armpits are very sensitive, but there's nothing that is associated with excrutiating pain.

Granted a groin shot is really painful. But I've been kicked there, and it hurts so much I felt it in the pits of my stomach, not where my groin was.

But from what I've heard, the liver shot is right up there, you can't really move at all after being hit in the liver. It's like a knock out hit, but you're conscious throughout the pain.

I'm interested in the liver shot because there's a chance it might disrupt it's function which might be the cause of pain, in which case it might be feasible to consider it just as bad as a groin shot.

so this happened to me yesterday.

i ate some instant oatmeal for breakfast yesterday around 8:30 am, and i was fine all morning.

11 AM: sudden headache, right above my right eye, along my eyebrow.
    Noon: feel of nausea
    1 PM left work.
2 PM got home, ate some leftover pasta from the night before and laid around.
3:30 PM: vomitted my guts out.
    nausea went away instantly.
headache lessen and went away all together by 4PM.

i have no idea what happened. i was completely fine before 11 AM and after 4 PM. i don't think i ate something wrong bc all i had was instant oatmeal and i didn't have any stomach trouble.
