I going to start watching some Japanese Samurai films and I just want to know which ones are good to watch.

Uhh... I don't know... Last Samurai?
Can't lose with the Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, and Ran. I thought Kagemusha was pretty good too.
春花秋月几时了,
往事知多少?
小楼昨夜又东风,
故国不堪回首明月中.
雕栏玉砌应犹在,
只是朱颜改.
问君能有几多愁,
恰似一江春水向东流.

For more recent stuff... how about Zatoichi by Beat Takeshi. Heh.

That's a U.S. film. I think it's good but not great.Originally Posted by Brian0032

I first caught Lone Wolf and Cub when I was channel surfing one late night in a hotel. And I came across this samurai movie of this assasin who he takes his infant son in a wheelbarrow like cart on his "jobs". (I am suspecting that Luc Besson may have got his inspiration for Leon - The professional from this movie)
The movie is quite violent for it's times (made in 1971!), and it was out of this world to see a cold blooded assasin, slashing his victims in front of his innocent baby son. And I started to read about the serial and the manga which insipired this movie. Catch it if you can!
Check out LONE WOLF AND CUB: SWORD OF VENGEANCE (1971) and read this link about the movie and the subsequent string of 5 sequels made after that.

Some people mentioned Zaitochi. I wouldn't get it if I were you. That film's pretty ghetto. Ghetto blood, ghetto film, nearly everything is pretty much ghetto. The violence is also overdone. To tell you the truth most japanese movies suck quality wise unless if you like horror and thriller movies.
I think every country gots a different style of film making. India is mostly singing, Hong Kong is mostly action(well the ones made 10 years ago), Hollywood is just about the acting and script, and Japan is violent. I'm just a little interested in other country's movies anyways.Originally Posted by Brian0032
Kurosawa's Ran is a film worthy of putting at the top of your list imo.Originally Posted by Dagger Lee
