Default How good were Kunlun martial arts?

How good were Kunlun martial arts? How did they compare to other schools such as Wudang, Shaolin, etc?

Considering that the Kwun Lun Sect's Ho Juk Do outmatched pretty much every Shaolin monk during the period after ROCH except for Gok Yeun (who was superior only in inner power), I'd say pretty darn good.

By the time of HSDS, that situation was completely reverse. Shaolin grew more powerful while Kwun Lun couldn't live up to Ho Jok Do name.

Since He Zu Dao was merely one of the kunlun's elders, I suspect there must have been someone who had higher skill than HZD himself in Kun Lun. ( just my opinion though)

    Is Kunlun Buddhist-base or Taoist-base?

Often, unless it was some kind of Shen Gong such as 9Ying, 9Yang or Kuai Hwa Bao Dian, it isn't about the kung fu but the practitioner.

Not very sure also, but He Zhudao was probably the best to come out of Kunlun Sect. There's a shrine or a garden being built in honour of him, whereas there's none for the rest of the Kunlun elders. And He Zhudao was not even the sect leader once, he's just a wanderer lookin for chess, qin fanatics.

I don't think he's the best to come out of Kunlun. I mean the Xiu Yiu Sect had martial arts books from KunLun so KunLun existed long before He Zhudao was around and it's usually not surprising for there to be excellent martial artists from earlier eras. The eunuch who created Khua Fa Bao Tin is such an example. Granted, nothing can be proven.

Kun Lun seemed to enjoy a status above that of the individual sword schools in the Five Swords Alliance in SoD so I'd say that they were never that bad.

kunlun was ranked among the top four sects after the events at shaolin that took place in HSDS. the rankings are shaolin, wudang, er-mei, kunlun. kunlun's martial arts are are as good if not better then the five mountain sects. he zhudao was the best in kunlun of his generation. he was only thirty at the time he challenged shaolin and his achievements at that age is comparable to the five experts(HQG,OYF,HYS) at the same age(30yrs) during the first huashan tournament. how much he zhudao progrssed after that in the following years is not known, only it was stated that he tiacheng(the kunlun leader of HSDS) and his wife only achived 40% of he zhudao's skills, and they were on par with jin popo, wudang hero yu, etc. he zhudao may have become the leader of kunlun after the fight with zhang gaobao. (at that time, there was a different leader of kunlun who appeared at guo xiang's birthday in the asipic comic)

Yeah, you're probably right. Apart from He Zhudao, the Kunlun founder must be a impressive person, creating Kunlun Sect from scratch, just like WCY and ZSF.
