The Great Magician follows the self-reflexive tradition of Western theatre in the post-modern era - Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters In Search Of An Author was the canon self-reflexive theatrical performance. For cinematic examples, a good one would be Looking For Richard, directed by Al Pacino. It's a dramatic style which may not be familiar to Chinese audiences (yet), that's why some viewers are undecided about The Great Magician as a "comedy". I'd say it signals the coming of age/maturity of the min guo genre. Not so sure whether all Chinese audiences are ready for it, but I'm glad it's doing well in the Mainland.
Linghu Chong is a great role for any actor guaranteed to further his popularity. So why not.
I ship Shi-Harem
The Great Magician is no. 1 box office in the Mainland so far.
Ling Hu Chong is a good role and we believe Wallace can't resist this offer (maybe this is why he is keeping his front hair long for another ancient drama). The problem is the female lead again. Heard she isn't a good looking new person whom Yu wants to boost her popularity. People normally first decide whether they want to watch a drama based on the 2 leads. If it is just for the male lead they would lose half of the audience....
Wallace as Ling Hu Chong? hmm I am not sure if this is good idea or not, Wallace is maybe to intense and too serious to play a free spirit like Ling Hu Chung? I dont know, if it's true then it could be a challenge for Wallace.

This is also the reason we think he'll find the character irresistible....
I think he's intense when he's at work. When facing a large audience he's shy.
During the Shenzhen promo event Lin Zi Cong said the reason why he asked Wallace to play Er Dan because during the filming of CP3 he found there is a funny side of him after each take was over. He was serious before the take and after he did his part he was funny. I hope he could maintain this stage of mind even before the take.....

HuoJie weibo has posted the list, Check this list to see if your name is on the list to win a ticket to watch CSKJB privately in Beijing
I wonder if Wallace is going to watch with you lucky fans

I doubt very much about this. There should be one more free show to be offered by the Huajie Studio. It's a way to say thank you to Huomis for their support. I think other than these lucky people some core Huomis in Beijing are also invited.
This fan has been trying to collect a rainbow effect of Wallace's photos for sometime...

I've done some searching, 2012 smiling wanderer will be made by CCTV and another company and the two guys below are potiential Ling hu Chong, so where does the rumour of Wallace will be Ling Hu Chong fit in?
potential female lead is this girl
I remember her, she was in A mobile love story with Wallace...
Sorry I dont know these actors names
And the latest remake of this series was in 2000.

XiangShan (Elephant Mountain) Filming Studios have revealed that Wallace will also be participating in Da Mo Yao (even though it seems quite unlikely). I know a lot of Huo mis here weren't keen on him being in DMY, so I'll leave commenting to you guys.
P.S. This is only 80-90% believable. TangRen's mouth is currently shut very tightly.
This is quite strange if there are two companies producing the same story in the same year. But Yu Zheng's company has confirmed they will definitely go ahead with this production this year. It said they will make very little changes to the original novel except putting more emphasis on the love scenes of the two male and female leads. It went on and said guesses from fans are wrong and the two leads will be announced once the contracts are signed.
Surprisingly more fans prefer Wallace in Tang Ren's production than in Yu Zheng's production. Their comments to Yu: leave our Wallace alone...
During Wallace's promotion tour for CSKJB, he said he won't mind taking another ancient drama as long as the commission is reasonable. I'm now more confident that his next project will be an ancient one as his front hair is quite long now...
I'm not a Huo mi, but even I don't want Wallace to be in too many Yu Zheng produced series (Rogue Snow doesn't really count, as YZ was only the script writer, not the producer). Sure, the scenes/props/costumes in YZ series may seem extravagant, but his plots are very cliche/shallow, which is why his dramas always have good viewership ratings.
Most of the men (esp. noble officials) from the earlier dynasties (i.e. Qin to Three Kingdoms) didn't really have fringes, but no drama follows history exactly.![]()
Hmm I am not sure how I am going to take this news, I just dont want Wallace to play second fiddle to Hu Ge again like CP3, one drama is enough. I have nothing against Hu Ge, I just think Wallace should star in his own drama.
If Yu Zheng is going to keep at least 80% of the original novel of the smile wanderer then it should be better for Wallace to be in Yu Zheng production than Tangren where they have their own artist to be the male lead over Wallace.
DMY is a female oriented drama again like Bubu jing xing...and Wallace has been taking a lot of dramas where the female was the main story. He should take a break from that for now I think. Yeah I might be a bit selfish but as a Huo mi that how I feel.

Oh don't you notice that Wallace generally didn't wax his hair up like others in ancient dramas? He prefers to have his natural hair line but to make his hair looks 'ancient', he has to keep his front hair so that his fringe can be waxed up all the way toward the bundle.
Don't worry... I share the same feeling... I know Wallace doesn't mind to be no 2 or even no 3 but Meng Jiu is not really a challenged character for him. I'll be disappointed if he does take on that role. Remember originally he asked to play a no 3 character in CSKJB but turned down by Lin Zi Cong?
Although I'll be disappointed but leaving all the above elements aside, I believe probably only Wallace can handle this character well because he has all what this character requires. Also, most novel readers love this character the most... likes Liu Lian Cheng in QSHF.

Tobeme: Have you read the novel? If he is in DMY then what kind of character he would be playing that people love? Can you describe it a little, it's the bad guy character right?
I know Wallace likes to challenge his acting ability, Ling Hu Chong is not an easy character either. I hope they will offer this role to him and he will choose this instead of taking up Tangren's production, playing a Jin Yong's character is a great publicity in itself.
His eyes and his nose are the best assets
