Good observation! The girl who posted these pics is a member of Wallace's fan club. She said hoping someone can use these pics to make posters.

Another long translation from me. Not sure if I captured the tone right. The author is a well known PRC movie critic. A rating of 4 stars was given for Chao Shi Kong Jiu Bing (not bad for a low budget movie). Here is a link to the original text: http://movie.douban.com/review/5189672/.

When I read this critic, I started out laughing and ended up with tears. How hard has Wallace been through all these years! I really don't mind about his look anymore as I love him for who he is!

    --------------------------------------

NOWADAYS, IT IS EASIER TO BE A SAINT AND IS MORE DIFFICULT TO BE A SNOB

I don’t know how many people are just like me: despising bosoms when admiring readers, despising readers when watching Si Niang, despising Si Niang during the age when Niubo [a site where you can say anything you want] is a big hit, dispising Niubo when it came to the age of watching middle aged artistes in those Hong Kong/Taiwan shows. And now we have finally evolved (or degradation?) in such an era to watch jokes without grounds. [I] have already got a grip that there is no need to despise anyone, because everyone else is a bit ahead of me. Laughing at someone’s missing teeth…I myself have a wide-open hole. Spending the whole life to uplift myself, and then only to find out I’m nobody. Some people are moving in a faster pace, some get slower, and some believe they are already in a comfort zone and stop moving.

But most people are happy to stop moving at high level, same for normal people as well as stars. Do you know during all my time spending in the movie industry what people I found most disgusting? Those numerous artistes who dressed up nicely with heavy makeup yelling at their assistants and ordering them to do all sorts of things and as awkward as they could be, but once they stepped in front of the camera, they lifted their faces and performed their acts as if the microphone is a magic wand: “Actually I want to play a contradicted, cultivated and challenging role.”.

After seeing so many of these people, you could imagine how surprise I was when I saw Huo Jian Hua. When I first came to the set it was still Summer time. I sat at the porch eating lunch and thinking this fat boy Lam Zhi Chong really did know how to order lunch boxes coming with coke from downstair with a bargain. I shouldn’t have carried my water with me all the way. The sun was burning and I was morning not enough suntan lotion. I was splitting fish bones when I saw a guy with a sunburn face coming in the door alone. He was wearing Er Dan’s clothes, Er Dan’s eyeglasses, even with Er Dan’s hair. I thought to myself this stand-in person was quite dedicated and came in such early hours. But then I thought this whole afternoon there were no dangerous acts why they needed a substitude for? Then I was self-deprecating and laughed hahaha to myself that this was really something that he looked so much like Huo Jiang Hua.

But it turned out it was HIM.

Ahhhhhhhhh where are your manager, your stylist and your assistant! You stand under the sun and burn like a crab with your hands stuck in your pockets! What’s going on!

Later on I found out that he doesn’t have an agent, a management company and even this and that. Even his contract was only reviewed by his schoolmate and then he asked him to sign the underneath. Basically for an artist it is about selling his look. It’s unbelievable for someone who is running his acting career in such a small workshop-style. It’s even more horror when people are so eager to meet the media but he refused interviews. While other people are taking in commercial invitations at all costs he refused even meal invitations. On the set I saw he was being chased by two reporters with their camera equipment, he was runny ahead of them and turned his head with blushed face and said: “Don’t interview me as I really don’t know what else to say.”. I thought to myself hey director you should shoot that scene if you want a comedy this is a real comedy.

So even when he’s not that handsome up-close with minor crooked teeth, a red face and without a charming smile (except for his well known long eyelashes which give you a sense of pity when he blinks his eyes), I still have high hope in him. For a handsome guy who is willing to scarify his image to come forward for this comedy is already a good thing to be happy about, particularly when he was trying so hard to play his role shamelessly. When I watched the raw film with him jerking his pants, speaking mandarin with Taiwanese accent, pretending a wretched man, and rolling on the floor like a baby (I don’t know how many will be cut though). His holding out only makes me like him more!

So even this low budget movie may not draw much attention from the theaters, a comedy which decent people may find it hard to accept, a movie with many shots which are quite rough because they didn’t have enough money… but I think, if you don’t find Huo Jiang Hua annoying, you should not be begrudge and give him an applause with his cautious and conscientious hard work. After all, in these days, it’s easier to be a saint and is more difficult to be a snob.

    Nice saying!!
His simplicity makes him special. It's too hilarious to imagine the scene where the 2 reporters running after him and Wallace: "Don't interview me, I really don't know what else to say!"
Tysm for the translation! Hahaha it's really interesting!

This was him running away from the press as soon as his interview was finished...

I wonder more about how did he get to it so far as well! I always think that if he doesn't have such a reserved personality, he should alaready be a mega star by now with his good look and good acting! He was so hot all over Asia during his first 2 years in the show biz and then he just disappeared... Anyway, as long as he's happy that really matters...

I've quite forgotten the last time I came to post HuaGe stuff.

Intro: Huo Qu Bing (male protagonist in Da Mo Yao) doesn't want to continue to be an official in the Han court, so after consulting with Meng Jiu, decides to do a fake death. Yet he was poisoned by Wei Qing's son. To save HQB, Meng Jiu used his own body to test if the antidote worked.
As shown below: HG as HQB, Wallace as Meng Jiu.
N.B. The user especially photo shopped Wallace's sleeve, so that the sleeve in the second scene would be the same as in the first scene.

Overall a nice poster... but I can't figure out why Dec 25, 2012 and not Dec 26, 2011... perhaps time travel to next year?

Wallace recently photographed for a magazine... this hasn't been done for a very long long long time! Another vintage look Quite a 'playful' look, lol.
