Zhang: Wallace still remembers the first time he came to Mainland China to take up acting: he was all by himself and stayed in the room of a small and wreaked hotel. The room was humid and he was new to the place and didn't have any friends. After putting down his baggage, he thought to himself "what am I doing here?". He suddenly missed home and gave his mother a call. What happened after the call? He swore to himself he would make a name in this place within 2 years!

Zhang: Will you find a girl who loves you more than you love her similar to those male characters normally play in idol dramas? Wallace: No, I'll find someone I love. I think if I love her more I'll scarify for her to make her happy. If she loves me more, she will try to please me by doing all sorts of things. That would only make me feel sorry for her [my own interpretation: becoming a responsibility and not love]. Idol drama is only a fantasy. But in reality there are things needed to be considered. A man should maintain his own responsibility.

Zhang: At 16 years old Wallace took a hill path to a rural village looking for a retreat singing expert. At first this expert ignored him. Wallace didn't give up and sang a song to him but he was interrupted half way. After back home he tried all he could to learn all the songs of this expert. After learning all the songs he went again to see him. Because of his dedication and handsome look, this expert finally accepted him as his disciple. Wallace learnt how to sing and read music, as well as to stick to his dreams in this hustle and bustle world.

Wallace had a sense of strange resentment of the 80's. He liked being born in the 70's, just after Christmas. He once said, "I am proud to say that I'm glad that I was born not too early, and not too late. It's 1979, Dec 26th, in the late 70's. This provided me a sense of stableness and faithfulness in the way I think and do thing.
霍建华对80年代生人有一种莫名的抵触情绪，他要命地喜欢自己能出生在70年代末梢，还是在圣诞节刚过之后 。他曾经很得意地说，我太庆幸自己出生得那么好，没有早很多，也没有晚一步，是1979年12月26号。“ 70年代末，这凭空让我在行走和思考时能产生一种特别稳健和真实的感觉。

Wallace is quite matured even at a young age. Gee, I played games and asked for more allowances so that I could buy more games when I was 16, LOL. I guess being raised in a poor and single family did push him to become matured early on. I really respect him for giving up his hot idol status in Taiwan and started all over again in the Mainland China. He didn't waste his 8 years in China at all. Without any commercials, minimal turn up for shows, almost no gossips, he made it just by putting all his efforts and energy in letting the characters (he played) speak for him!

My beloved Wallace. A difficult path for him but he made it! With this look at a younger age there is no problem for him to remain as as idol. But it won't last long. A clever choice by him!

BTS Youku event.

Wallace Ren Ren fan club: We praised Wallace for looking cool in the Youku. He looked like a leader and gave a good impression. He also looked like an anchorman with his microphone during a special interview. That gave a feeling of Wallace running around two congressional houses. He pretended falling down, said with a big laugh: "so if I went with my pirate costume I could not hold the stage then? If I went with my pirate costume that would be scary! Visiting Wallace at the XMSY set: When I first saw Wallace he looked very thin: "Wallace you're thinner than the last time you showed up in Chengdu". "Really? I'm not someone who won't gain weight if I start eating", laughed Wallace: "It's just that when we're shooting for a drama we generally get into a diet. Also, I think it suits this character more if I stay thinner". Oh, I see, it's about work. Tough job.
