The boss killed her? How do you know it's the boss? So because the boss killed her, the other guys let shing go?

Guess you really didn't understand the movie.

Shing and boss' wife had an affair, so the guys are all supposed to execute Shing. The fat guy didn't want this to happen, thought he should just go reason with the boss into letting Shing go. However, when he saw the boss' wife, she herself was being executed by the boss' cronies too. This shows that the boss is ruthless when it comes to things like that, the boss is beyond reason. So being scared out of his pants, fat guy returned to the restaurant.

Of course, they didn't kill Shing since the guy was their comrade. Sheesh, it had nothing to do with the wife getting killed at all.

From what I understand, Francis' character felt a bit responsible because the wife approached him before and he passed on the task of driving her to Shing.

My thought the reason why the gang let Shing off is because Francis feel responsible because Shing is his bro (gang stuff)... and that the whole teams bonded as bros... even though it is kind of betraying to the boss... which to me is where we get the mission title from. They treat working for the boss as a job and that with each other is what they should be responsible with and to. This to them was the honorable thing to do.

I think the movie wanted to tell a story of brotherhood.

For some reason I get the feeling that Simon get more respect and feared by other people rather than the boss when i watch this movie. And I thought Simon was going to kill the boss to take over the position. Oh well, maybe I was thinking too much.

    It IS a brotherhood film.

As for Simon, yeah, you can say that he's really the one running things, since he's actually devious enough to want to turn the guys against one another.
