Do any wuxia characters have style (Zi) names? Ie. Zhao Yun (from RotTK)'s style (zi) is Zi Long. Zhang Fei's is Yi De.

Isn't Duan Yu's Zi name, Heyu?
改 之 "To change/amend" Yang Guo's name "Guo" means ""Misdeed". His style is Gaizhi, together its' meaning is "Change your ways/Amend your wrong doing".Originally Posted by Yang Ming

isn't the "style" name more of a nickname? i don't think "gaizhi" was YG's nickname...i mean, no one called him yang gaizhi

Only a few characters have style names. Another one apart from Yang Guo I can think of is Xie Xun. The reason is that (at least in the wuxia world) only those who were into literature and arts would have style names, whereas those into martial arts would just have nicknames instead. Those who were good at both (such as Xie Xun) would have both.

Thank you, Laviathan. Although I can't see the Chinese characterers, I think I'll can look them up from the dictionary.
I think only someone whose parents have some literature knowledge has style names. There is no one who creates his own style name.Originally Posted by Candide
