Kidd, have you seen any of these Malaysian actors before?

    Johnson Low

A casualty of the media merger in Singapore. Was reported that he would be returning to KL. I feel he has the looks to go far.

    Ong Ai Leng

Joined Mediacorp. Read that she acted in Homecoming.

    Wymen Yong

Another casualty of the media merger. I was impressed with his acting skills in Mediaworks' Changing Lanes.

I haven't seen Johnson Low or Ong Ai Leng before, but, yes, I have seen Wymen Yong before. He use to work under HVD label and have once played the lead role in a series. He was not the best actor in that series, but I found his acting natural enough. So, what happened to him? MediaWorks won't sign with him anymore? That's too bad. Seems like the Malaysia actors are getting the shorter end of the stick in this merger situation. Shaun Chen, another Malaysian actor has also been let go by MediaCorp.

Mediaworks is no more. Gobbled by Mediacorp. It was only last year that Mediaworks ramp up her drama productions. I guess for Johnson and Wymen, they do not have enough name recognition yet. Not many people even know their names.

I don't think the Malaysian actors got the short shift as Ong Ai Leng joined the new Mediacorp TV Holdings. The ones that got the short shift are those previously from TCS/Mediacorp and jumped ship to join Mediaworks. People like Shaun, Lina Ng, Ericia Lee etc. They must have stepped on too many toes then so even though they are familiar faces on Singapore TV, they were not offered a new contract.

How's the Chinese entertainment scene in Malaysia now? I get the feeling that there are more Malaysian Chinese productions now especially since there are more free to air channels.

Watching a new Malaysian series now. It's an idol series. The title is '星空 Sky'. The young actors' acting are a bit raw due to them being either first-timers or have very little experience in acting. But, the series is quite entertaining. Too bad I miss a lot of episodes due to it airing on Sunday 7.30pm and I'm often not home at that time.

Is anyone watching it besides me?

I hope they will come out with a DVD like they did with Project Superstar 1 (Singapore) series (idol series starring contestants from Project Superstar season 1). I've missed so many episodes.

I didn't watch the series u mention although I know of its existance. But I did watch the beginning of another locally produced series (I think it's join-venture with S'pore) and it's pretty good. The dialogue is natural, the plot is interesting and the guy who plays the big brother acts very well. It's about 1 father and his 3 sons.

The reason I didn't follow it is because of time again. Sometimes, I was not home yet when the episode was air. Sometimes, my housemate want to see something else. I seldom follow a series on TV nowadays. I usually watch the more time flexible VCD.

Is anyone watching the series 'Welcome Home My Love (快樂一家)'? I just started watching yesterday on TV. So, it's already halfway through.

Is Remus Kam playing 2 characters in the series? In yesterday episode, Remus Kam's character brought a fake blind girl home and gave her clothes to change. While she's changing, he left the room, but, someone is spying the girl. After the girl left, the camera shown a partly hidden face. It looks like Remus Kam but I'm not sure. Later, there's a scene of the fake blind girl talking to her friend. Apparently, it's a scheme to make Remus fall in love with her and then she will cheat him of his money and break his heart. They do this because Remus is supposely a bad guy who betrayed the love of the friend's sister. But, the Remus the blind girl knew is a very nice person.

So, I was wondering if Remus character has a twin. I check wiki. There's no mention of him having a twin. It just said he played a villain.

Update: found answer liao. Remus did play two characters in the series.

Now, I want to know. Where can I watch this series? I want to watch back the episodes I've missed.

    Info on series

    Anyone watch 'Mr. Siao's Mandarin Class'. It's not exactly a chinese series since it's multi-lingual. It's a 1/2 sitcom.

I find the this show very funny and entertaining especially yesterday's episode.

It's basically the Mandarin equivalent of a British classic, 'Mind Your Language'.

    Come to class

    Just as good

The above article ('Just as Good') writer is right. I also find that the quality of local chinese series is getting better and better. The series that were aired at night lately has been of good quality in terms of acting and story. The acting of the local actors have become a lot more natural. I'm especially impressed with Steven Yap's improvement. He was very wooden in his few earlier series, but, now his acting is more lively and natural.

Here's the 2 teaser for 'Mr.Siao's Mandarin Class'.

Watching 'Age of Glory 2' now. Personally, I think this is a very high quality series. They manage to recreated a very realistic setting of olden days Malaya during the British colonisation. They will later face the Japanese occupation two. I personally think this series is not inferior to Singapore or HK series at all. Set is good, costume is good and the actors all can act. I'm amaze that the actor who played to school teacher. My housemate said this series was his first time acting and he can act so well and naturally.

Here's the official website. I hope they come out with DVD later after it's finish airing on TV.
