Yea, Tony Jaa was the 1st person after Jet Li whom i admired after watching Ong Bak. I can't wait to watch Tom-Yam-Goong, it's showing soon in late August that's two weeks away!

As we all know Tony Jaa has excellent skils. But that's not everything in movies. U need charisma too and he doesn't have it. Im sure he can build on that as his career keeps going upward. I didn't like Ong Bak that much. Cheoreography was too boring. Too much of ppl standing around letting Tong Jaa hit them. At first the movie was good because of the stunts and stuff but after a while u begin to see that they still have a long way to go to match HK legends from the 70s and 80s

Just watched this movie. Gad what a brutal form of fighting! Not much finesse and you've now got forearms, elbows and knees to contended with. I'm sure if they could use their butts they would. Going to watch Kung Fu Hustle now.

It's truly a great piece of martial arts choreography. Man, those blows looked brutal! Tony Jaa's acting was more wooden than that wooden dummy Bruce and wingchun practioners use... Brilliant stuntman, tony is, but let's see if he's got any acting skills.

Never thought I'd say it, Jet Li is hardly Mr. Charisma himself but he'd win an Oscar hands down if the race for the best actor was between him and tony.

P.S. It was kind weird seeing the old school muay thai katas in action, cos they sure don't fight like that in the rings. If Tony threw those clumsy punches for real in the ring, he'd get killed by real thai boxers; competitive muay thai athletes have all but abandoned the Chinese-influenced hand strikes in favor of Western boxing movements. Hell, Sugar Ray and Hearns are huge idols and models for Muay Thai boxers in Thailand.

I love this movie and the fighting style. The action and fight scenes were just awesome!!

I was so impressed that all the stunts were done without wires or special effects. It really makes the movie more realistic and enjoyable.. I would definitely recommend it
Have you learned to love one another?

What is Ong Bak? Does it refer to Buddha or the statue of Buddha of that village? I think the fighting scenes are rather highlighted on Thai kick boxing, right? The main lead is a good fighter though his oppornants don't have such skills. He did not have a good match in this movie. That made me getting bored. I was little confused with this evil man. Why did he do that funny robot voice in the begining?

I think he has a voice disability, so he has a device thing on his neck that speaks for him when he presses it. I have seen this before but I have no idea what the symptom is called.

yeah ong bak is the name of the buddha in the village. The film had some kick *** action and some brutal blows that puts some of the recent action films to shame. I couldn't believe that HE ACTUALLY JUMPED THROUGH THAT BARBED WIRE i was like damn... great mindless action and martial arts, definately not much of a storyline, they just threw the girl in to ease out the testosterone homoerotic male action-fest

But his verbal disability was a fake, wasn't it? I saw he can speak well without using that device in last scene.

I think there is some wire work.
In this pic he is holding something to twist around:

Can he walk on those people shoulders/heads?

The barbed wire scenes look real:

i have only watched this once and wasn't very into it. it was sluggish and slow to me and didn't keep my attention. someone else mention the fighting was too one-dimensional?

haven't rewatch it because i think jet li, donnie yen, wu jing, etc fights better to me, in my opinion. and yes tony jaa's acting is wooden.
