Last I heard, Kevin will be leaving for S'pore on 2 Jan. This may apply to the rest of the HK cast, including Raymond, I guess. But u gotta double check cos filming schedules are different for different actors even if in the same cast.

FYI, Charmain Sheh will leave for Singapore on 2 Jan as well.

    [The Sun 23/12/04]

Charmaine Sheh was a guest at a store opening in Mongkok yesterday and she revealed that she will be flying out to Singapore on 2nd Jan to film on location for "Yummy Yummy" before returning in February to begin work on the Flying Services Series with Ekin Cheng that has been renamed "Always on Standby". When it was mentioned that the lead role in this series was supposed to be Gigi Lai, she says: "Well it is me now. (There were rumours that as Gigi replaced Sheren in 'Powder and Rouge' this led to a big mix up in the roles?) They were just rumours."

Also, with Kate Tsui taking over one of Charmaine's previous ad campaigns and being paid a seven figure sum, does Charmaine feel threatened by her? Charmaine replies: "It is just the market price, I am not clear about it, but for a good fee, she should be happy!" Kate denies that she has replaced Charmaine, saying: "Don't put it like that, maybe the company likes the Miss Hong Kong image."

Taken from TVB mag, issue 394 (21/12/2004). Scans taken from www.kevincheng.com.hk.

Dunno how to translate cos it's in cantonese.... But the gist of it is about the filming of this part of the story where Ben Yeo comes from S'pore to look for his girlfriend. He then finds himself bunking in with Kevin, much to the displeasure of Sheung Tin Ngor (sorry, dunno how to spell), who's probably Kevin's relative or a helper at Kevin's chicken stall (not stated explicitly in the article). So Ben decides become a helper at the stall, and turns out that he's pretty good at it cos he manages to please all the 'si lai' (aunties) customers. He even manages to win the 'approval' of Sheung cos he could act as English translator for her when she had Filipino maids for customers.

This story has also been covered in one of the K-100 clips. See this site to download: http://jade.tvb.com/k100/20041225.html

    Screencaps of the news segment

From the way it is presented in the news, Mediacorp is claiming all the credit for this collaboration effort with TVB. When the fact is that MediaWORKS was the one who spent years negotiating the deal for this joint effort. All of the local actors involved were previously from Mediaworks, some of them were not even offered contracts in the new Mediacorp TV Holdings. They made it seem like TVB was all along working with Mediacorp. Very low class of Mediacorp.

From the news, this serial will air in June on Channel U.

    Oh man... That sucks! %*&^%^#%$@*

Btw, I'm really curious... They interviewed Kevin and Tavia? How's their mandarin? I've heard Charmaine and Raymond speak mandarin before but not the other 2...

ok, i saw the re-telecast on the 10pm Ch 8 news but it's very much shorter and less stuff than what wuchang posted. missed the evening news cos I was having my wisdom tooth extracted...

but yah, sneaky MC!!! so blatantly disregarding any of mediaworks' involvement in the production! and the newscaster only mentioned Li Zhiyi being involved in the show when the shot showed both she and her sis (Erica Lee).

    man... Shame on u, Mediacorp!

Yah. so shameless of mediacrap. I saw the news and I thought its a new production, then realise that its yummy yummy which they called "Food For Life". The artistes in this show who were from Mediaworks and not in Mediacorp now is Lina Ng, Shaun Chen and Ericia.

Dunno how they feel lor. Especially Ericia coz the video was shooting her with her sis at the background but the newscaster just said Li Zhi Yi....... I almost thought she read wrongly lor.

So despicable of mediacrap man. The reason that the 3 of them was chosen to be in this production shows that they are worthy artistes that can be compared to Hong Kong artistes and yet they are not signed. This shows Mediacrap taste and standard.

And if I am not wrong, they are given like corner seats lor............ really feel sad for them. After so many years, got recognition from audiences but not from the company due to pettiness.

Saw the sitting arrangement. Despicable. This is not promotion, this is side stepping the ones who deserves a mention and then claiming glory for oneself and then pushing the other aside!

And guess what? TVB did the same but at least that was to protect their own artiste. This I have no eye to see anymore. Very very very angry!

I agree. It's despicable of Mediacorp to claim Mediawork's credits.

The only reason I'm actually watching Mediacorp channels now are only to see for related news on Yummy Yummy, and the only reason I'm looking fwd to Yummy Yummy now is only because of the HK leads and Shaun...

Written by Ka Ka on a Kevin Cheng forum:

"it's not surprised for such a giant media would do in that way after merger....they even dropped out some ex-MediaWorks artistes despite they are currently shooting in Yummy Yummy....what else they wouldn't do....i feel sorry for Erica, Lina and Shuan though i am not familiar with those SG artistes."

Was quite consoled that the plights of these artistes are felt by even Hong Kongers who aren't familiar with them. But then again, we can only stand aside and watch on helplessly as MC asserts its revenge.

    See U again
New TV series is former MediaWorks project

THE legacy of MediaWorks lives on - at least in the form of TV series Food For Life, which will debut on Channel U in June.

Filming for the 30-episode series started in October last year and is expected to end by next month. It was previously named Yummy Yummy and was a co-production between Hong Kong's TVBI and the former MediaWorks, which is now part of MediaCorp TV Holdings.

This is the first collaboration between MediaCorp Studios and TVBI.

The drama revolves around a group of young people who take part in a culinary contest which brings them to Hong Kong for the finals.

Filming was done in Hong Kong, China and Singapore.

Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh, who ate stingray and satay from Lau Pa Sat on Monday after a shoot, says: 'When it comes to cooking, I can only cook instant noodles and eggs but I love eating.'

Other Hong Kong artists in the drama include Raymond Lam, Kevin Cheng, Yeung Yi and Ng Ka Lok.

Most of the Singaporean artists in the show are former MediaWorks faces like Michelle Chia, Ben Yeo, Peter Yu, Chen Huihui, Ericia Lee and Lina Ng.

MediaCorp artists Jeff Wang, Alan Tern and Belinda Lee also have roles.

Chia and Yeo were recruited by MediaCorp in the wake of the media merger.

Chia's right eye got infected in the midst of filming, but she says she has no regrets filming it as everyone from the cast to the crew doted on her throughout the entire filming process.

'The auntie who was in charge of the costumes even offered me Milo and biscuits from time to time.'

She plays a spoilt and wilful girl named Liang Kai Shan, who is in love with Xue Li, played by Lam, and follows him to Hong Kong.

She is pushed into the Singapore River by the latter in one scene, and that was how her eye got infected, she says.
