Kevin Cheng's mandarin is not too bad. At least I could understand what he was saying. A pity they didn't show Tavia and the others more prominently.

Errr... anyway, back to the topicNoticed Tavia was not mentioned nor featured in either the news or publications... Poor Tavia.... Oh wait, she was mentioned in the article but they made it sound like she was of little importance. In fact, the re-telecast of the news actually only mentioned Raymond and Charmaine as part of the HK cast, referring them to "popular HK stars". Poor Tavia...
At least Kevin still got one short interview in the evening news.
But nothing can be compared to those poor "ousted" ex-Ch U people. Ahhh... shan't go into that again...![]()

thks wuchang!!!
does anyone have ANY INFO on charm, kevin, ray n tavia filming in sg?!
for eg, location and days of filming respectively or even hotel?
or even saw them anywhere in singapore?
please email me and your help will be greatly appreciated : )
MediaCorp very hard sell their artiste THOUGH I think Ben Yeo is like the one with the MOST ROLE.
Anyway to be fair you wil find some interesting info here, surprisingly ...
http://ch8.mediacorptv.com/around8/i...ew/554/1/.html
And Shaun's role is as follows...
Xue Li (Raymond) is a suave and generous Hong Kong contestant who does everything in an impressive, high profile manner. His humorous nature charms many of the female contestants, especially Mei Si. He battles for Mei Si’s (Ericia Lee) affections with Shi Hao (Shaun Chen), a Singapore contestant. The ensuing tussle of wills creates trouble for the other participants, especially Jia Le, who is caught in the middle.
AND
Subsequently, Zhi Yin is exposed as being related to Wen Xi, the PR representative cum babysitter, and is thus disqualified. Fu Sheng is bent on looking for his girlfriend upon reaching Hong Kong and has no interest in competing; and Jia Le is focused on enjoying the game for what it is. Therefore, Shi Hao gets away with cheating and wins.
AND
Just when things are at an all-time low for the group of friends, Jia Le learns that Shi Hao has been disqualified for cheating and he is the rightful owner of a bustling shop space!
AND THEN I can switch off the TV. No role my friend. No role, Very heart sick. I hate teh way Ben Yeo is BEING PUT into the limelight ignoring others, or more precisely those that are not with MediaCorp. They even mentioned Ezann and others and yet i wonder do they have SUCH big roles or TVb changed the storyline? Like opening scene Shaun, next episode dead. The end??
I must mention this. They did write Shaun and Ericia's name in bold. What does that mean? They exist, we mention them for the sake of their fans and then ignore them?

Charmaine and Kevin "electrocuted" by Ben Yeo
Article by Huang Jing Jing
Rumours about love sparks between popular TVB actor Kevin Cheng and Erica Lee flew due to their recent collaboration on the drama serial "Food For Life". However, at the press conference yesterday, Kevin dismissed the rumours, saying that he liked Ben Yeo even more.
The 30-episode family drama, a co-production between Mediacorp and Hong Kong TVB, has begun filming in Hong Kong since October last year. Now, the filming will continue in Singapore for about a month. Local artistes involved include Michelle Chia, Shaun Chen, Ben Yeo, Lina Ng, Zhan Jin Quan (sorry, dunno his English name) and Erica Lee.
Kevin Chen envies Ben Yeo who married young
When our local artistes went to Hong Kong to film, Kevin and Erica were rumoured to like each other. In response to this, Cheng said that everyone was only joking, and that he in fact liked Ben Yeo the best.
According to Kevin, he had the most scenes with Ben in the show, hence they are as close as brothers whether on or off screen. They can talk about anything under the sun, for example, Kevin had once asked Ben why he married so early? Was it because of some "accident"? When Ben said that it was because he knew he had truely found the love of his life and did not want to miss the opportunity, Kevin expressed envy at Ben's luck. Kevin also said, "If I find the love of my life, I will also consider getting married early".
Other than filming, Kevin and Ben also do Thai boxing. "When I was filming in Thailand, I watched a Thai boxing match and thought it was a good form of exercise, so I started to learn for a few months when I returned to Hong Kong", said Kevin. He also taught Ben some boxing techniques, and both had friendly matches.
Raymond Lam becomes so bloated that he can't recognize himself
The theme of "Food For Life" is on food. Although it has been only a few days since Raymond and Charmain Sheh arrived, they are all praises for the local delicacies, especially the stingray, oysters and satay. Raymond said that in between breaks during filming, he would be busy sampling the local delights. However, he is not used to Singapore's weather which, in Raymond's words, "is a little humid, so I get bloated easily. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, I can't even recognize myself!"
On her impression of the Singaporean actors, Charmaine said, "they are all very diligent, like Ben who is always serious during filming. However, many funny things happened because he cannot speak cantonese, causing alot of NGs."
A production company approaches Erica Lee
Erica has the most scenes with Raymond in "Food for Life". According to Erica, Raymond is friendly, and like Kevin and Ng Ka Lok, he is a "sunshine" guy. The three of them even became her Cantonese tutors.
Before going to Hong Kong, Erica could not speak the dialect. However, she is now able to communicate using simple Cantonese. When asked which of the three could "electrify" (fang dian, meaning attract people) the best, she said, "all three have really high "voltages", because their eyes are large and bright, luckily I wasn't "electrocuted". Currently, a production company is interested in signing on Erica as an actress for overeseas projects. She is still considering.
"Food For Life" is a story about 2 families in Singapore and Hong Kong, reflecting the close relations between the 2 countries, packaged with the theme of food, expressing some of the conflicts and relationships between humans. Before the merger, the production was a collaboration between Channel U and TVB, and was named "Yummy Yummy". Now it has been transferred under the wings of Mediacorp and TVB. "Food For Life" is slated to be aired in June.
Filming in Hong Kong
Michelle Chia ate more than 20 braised ducks
Michelle jumped into the Singapore River for the filming of a particular scene in "Food or Life" two days ago. That was the scene where she and Raymond first met. "The river is very cold at night, and it was brown with lots of leaves. In fact, because of the rain, all the rubbish on the river bed was washed up", she said. When asked about her impression of Raymond, Michelle said, "He is like a grown-up child. He likes to play games on his handphone during breaks."
When filming in Hong Kong, Michelle loved to eat braised ducks the most. She said, "I didn't dare to eat it before. But having tried it once, I have made it a point to order it everytime I'm at a restaraunt. It's head and neck are the best parts - a layer of skin, a layer of fat, and a layer of meat. " On retrospect, Michelle said she must have eaten around 20 braised ducks.
Shaun Chen does not feel awkward
About returning to Mediacorp for the press conference, Shaun said, "It's like returning home. I'm quite happy, in fact. I don't feel awkard, it's just a part of work".
After "Food For Life", Shuan does not have any special plans yet. He will instead take a rest, perhaps either to improve on his English, or travel. As for how long this break will last, he said, "I will let nature take its course".

I'm curious about the addition of Mediacorp's artistes who were not previously from Mediaworks. Did they replace some out of contract Mediaworks actors?
sigh... not surprised if they did...Originally Posted by wuchang

Pearl thanks for the translation. Now rumours between Ericia and Kevin? Very interesting.
Anyway favourite question of all papers to Shaun Chen .. What are you gonna do after this? Favourite answer of Shaun ..we will see ....this man is tight lipped! I think he has got some plans, good for him not to blurt out too much but bad for me because having anxiety attack.
Who controls zaobao? It's like the only paper that gives decent coverage on this series!
Singaporean friends, noticed Yummy Yummy filming or not?!??!

Nothing new abt the rumours. Ever since he became popular, Kevin seems to have been linked to almost every actress he has worked with. Interesting cos he once had this reputation of being "immuned" to rumours...Originally Posted by Funn Lim

Errr... nope, never noticed anything abt the filming... Never had luck with these sort of things... >.<

And look at the cast, the last 3 names are shaun, ericia and lina. As if their roles are the smallest of all?Originally Posted by Funn Lim
And the last group photo that also edited Lina away, she is supposed to be besides Ericia on the right side.
Are there any HK articles that talk more on the Singaporean artistes such as Shaun, Michelle, etc.? It seems that they focused on Ben more than any of the other SG artistes, and still only a brief caption here and a couple of lines there.Originally Posted by P-Chan

SPH stands for Singapore Press Holdings. They own almost all the newspapers in Singapore except for one - Today. Today is majority owned by Mediacorp. When the media was liberalised, SPH got the second TV licence and set up SPH Mediaworks. Mediacorp got a newsprint licence and came out with Today.
SPH is actually a bigger company than Mediacorp. They have cash to burn. Even though Mediaworks was losing millions (last year it was 40 million), as a group they still made profits.
