    I swear: I'll never be able to look at this scene the same way again.

    I guess there were certain advantages to low-res videotapes as compared to crystal-clear DVDs...

    This is a scene in Episode 14 showing Granny Golden Flower just had her Coral Staff split into 2 pieces by Priestess MieJue's Heavenly Sword.

    She must have carried Super Glue or a spare because soon after she had her Coral Staff back to normal when she was about to kill both Hu QingNiu and Wang NanGu.

    I can't help chuckle at this scene in Episode 19 when the 6 Major Sects attacked Brightness Peak. On the background you could see the electric transposition tower lines.

    How far is Nameless Valley from the base of Brightness Peak? Well, according on the scenes from Episode 17 and Episode 19, they are the same place.

    Here in Episode 17 at the scene outside Nameless Valley, Zhu ChangLing just pushed Zhang WuJi over the cliff a moment after Zhang WuJi refused to get him the Jiu Yang Zhen Jing.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u155/LOCHROCHHSDS/HSDS1986_17.jpg')

    Then in Episode 19, this is the scene Granny Golden Flower rescued Yin Li from Wei YiXiao and Zhou Dian at the base of Brightness Peak.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u155/LOCHROCHHSDS/HSDS1986_19e.jpg')

    Based on that strange looking landmark,

    1. Nameless Valley and the base of Brightness Peak are at the same location.

    2. Red Plum Manor is somewhere nearby Brightness Peak.

    3. Snow Hill Manor is below Nameless Valley/base of Brightness Peak.

    You know what else it means?

    Cheung Mo Gei basically got taken by those people from the Ngor Mei and Mo Dong Sects to walk (on broken legs) around in a huge circle before bringing him back to exactly where he started from!

    Talk about a case of "was this trip really necessary?"

    Trivia time...

    Q: How many Dog Beating Stick does the leader of Beggars' Clan have?
    A: Two

    Episode 19, Shi HuoLong is seen here holding the smooth looking Dog Beating Stick while he denied Chen YouLiang from participating with the 6 Major Sects to attack Ming Cult.

    Then here in Episode 22, Shi HuoLong held an edgy looking Dog Beating Stick when he reprimanded Chen YouLiang for attacking Ming Cult without his permission.

    Notably, neither of the HSDS '86 sticks was the same as the one used in LOCH '82 and ROCH '83, nor was either of them the highly ornamented stick used in DGSD '81.

    In Episode 35, Zhang WuJi wondered how Shou NanShang (YuanZhen's disciple) could be a useless coward in Wulin. He's seen here begging Zhao Min to save him.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u155/LOCHROCHHSDS/HSDS1986_35.jpg')

    The answer to Zhang WuJi's question is fairly simple. That's because he had no proper martial arts training. He was a steamed buns peddler in Episode 24.

    (I will be having fun with DGSD 1982 - tons of scenes with actor acted in multiple small characters)

    If you like these, let me point out another one for you to hunt down: in the very last episode of LOCH '82, there's a guy who plays a Sung soldier and a Mongolian soldier in back-to-back scenes less than a minute apart. Go to the last episode of LOCH '82 and look for the scene of Gwok Jing and Wong Yung going to visit Governor Lui Mun Dak of Seung Yeung Fortress, then look for the next scene at Genghis Khan's base camp. The guy who was a Sung soldier is suddenly a Mongol soldier (and no, he was NOT a spy or double agent).

    LOL, I thought they had plenty of people who was dying for any tv role in China. Why couldn't they just grab another guy off the street to play these roles?

    This was Hong Kong back in the 1980s. Sure, there were plenty of people who could have done the job, but don't forget that we're talking about TVB: the masters of cheap production. They weren't going to blow the budget on extras. Hell, by the end of ROCH '83, they were so pressed for production budget that they shot parts of the final battle of Seung Yeung inside some studio room with cellophane walls and *disco lights*.

    Wow really? I don't remember that part. But still I'm sure there are people who would love to be extras for free or just a pack of lunch. They could of had even grabbed the garbage guy or something.

    OMG! Seeing that '83 makes me think about how old I am now. And how old Andy Lau is! He's old enough to be my daddy. SICK!!!!!!

    That would explained why TVB used tablecloth for Zhao Min's attire and curtain for Zhou ZhiRuo...

    Here is a scene from Episode 25 showing He TaiChong cut off his left ring finger after he was defeated by one of Zhao Min's henchmen.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u155/LOCHROCHHSDS/HSDS1986_25.jpg')

    Then in Episode 33 during the time He TaiChong and his wife, Ban ShuXian, met with Song QingShu on their way to Zhang WuJi's wedding, it showed that He TaiChong's finger was intact.

    Wuxia characters in TVB series always grow back missing fingers. Wan Tze Ping in ROCH '83 had the same "problem" that Ho Tai Chung did in HSDS '86.

    You had to lose a whole freaking arm like Yeung Gor did to be sure it *stayed* lost.

    In series set in the 20th Century, however, lost fingers mercifully (for the audience's sanity) stayed lost. When Hui Mun Keung got his finger cut off in THE BUND, it didn't grow back (he wore a black rubber prosthetic finger for the rest of the series)...ditto Hung Pau and his two fingers in THE SHELL GAME.
