Cool Bae Yong Joon

Also known as Bae Yong Jun.

He's my current fav actor so I think it's time that he deserves a thread so I can post his pics and drool over them...

At first, I just loved his character in Hotelier. Confident, knows what he wants and goes for it. But I've been reading things about him and I really liked what I read. He's nice, courteous, and self motivated.

These are pics from Hotelier. I especially like him when he looks sad, hurt, or thoughtful.

Well, what kind of fan would I be without posting some comments on my current favorite actor? I am still very new to Korean series, since I have only watched TVB, ATV, TCS, and China series so far. I was first introduced to Korean series by watching All About Eve and no offence to any fans, but I find that series only average at best. The storyline and actors/actresses did not hook me and I don't find Jang Dong Gun good looking at all. He has a somewhat bloated face and eerie looking eyes.

Then, by pure chance, I encountered a wonderful review on Hotelier and my fate was sealed. I rent the series with a skeptical mind, fearing that I will be disappointed after watching it like I was with AAE. Before Hotelier, I had no clue as to who Bae Yong Jun is and didn't know that he was so famous in Korea. Anyways, his outstanding performance as the ruthless, but lonely Shin Dong Xian blew me away. Of course, I was first attracted to his good looks , but he was so awesome as the charismatic hero that I fell head over heels for this character . I heard that this series is not the typical Korean show (ie depressing ending and complicated storyline) and I love everything about it.

Everybody did a wonderful job in the series and I really enjoyed the supporting cast members, but it was Bae Yong Jun who stole the show. I keep replaying his scenes just to listen to him utter those romantic lines. He is sooooo damn FINE!!!

One negative aspect of watching this series is knowing that I will never find someone as devoted to me as Shin Dong Xian was to Xu Zhen Yin, the female character he loved. He may be a powerful and cold hearted businessman, but once he found his true love, she was the number 1 priority in his life. BYJ played the mature, intelligent, and devoted lover very well. I find myself wanting to comfort him when he looked so sad.
I wonder if I will ever be over BYJ.

Yes!!! And he went to Korea for her! Sooo romantic.. ~sigh..

I re-watched Hotelier as soon as I finished watching it for the first time. And now I'm capturing screen shots so I re-watch certain parts over and over again.. *goes back to dreaming state*

But I didn't really like Winter Sonata. I saw that first and thought he was ok. But since I didn't like the plot and some other things, he went out of my head as well. But after Hotelier, WAAM!

Hey, lil_bubble!
Thanks again for sending me the theme songs to Plain Love II and Where the Legend Begins. I got them downloaded already and keep playing the songs over and over. I know it's a bad habit because I'll soon get tired of listening to them, but till then, I will indulge myself.

Oh, did you noticed how HOT BYJ looked at the pool scene? I heard he worked out just to prepare for his role in this series and lost some weight. Damn! He looked GOOD! (shameless drooling)
Since he's so tall, (slightly over 6 feet) I assumed he had a skinny body, but who knew? I can definitely see why he received so many offers to advertise for clothings and other accessories.

I love all his scene with Song Yun Ah, but the pool scene is my favorite. Not because BYJ was half naked (definitely a plus), but because he asked her to go to Las Vegas with him in that ultra sweet way. I was ready to jump on his back and scream out, "Take me with you!" Yes, I know I'm sad and pathetic, but I can't help myself.

At first, I didn't think BYJ and Song Yun Ah match as an onscreen couple, but I totally changed my mind as I kept watching. She's not beautiful, but I find her cute and very sweet.

I totally agree with you regarding Winter Sonata. I saw the series when it was aired on tv and thought it was way too depressing. Of course BYJ was cute and all, but 1) I didn't like his hair and 2) his life was just too sad. The storyline is not very interesting either, just basically about people clinging on to their first love even though there are other people who love them.

No problem! I do that too. Keep listening to it till I get tired of it.

Wow! I so agree! Especially the "take me with you" part! Song Yun Ah took a while to get used to but it's all good.

Ah... the pool scene.. He did look good!! What do you think about him without glasses?
Hmm... I think I'm going to post the pool pics later.

Yes, yes, you should definitely post the pool scene ! Heck, right now I am so in love with him that i think he looks good with or without his glasses.
However, I do think he looks more intelligent and slightly more attractive with specs on. I have always wondered if he wears them because he needs them or because they make him look good.

I like him more with glasses, not sure if it's b/c I was used to it or what but without glasses, he looks tired and old. But not at the pool scene though. I read that in his first drama the director thought he looked too "regal" so he put glasses on him. I guess it became his trademark b/c he was named "glass prince" - sounds better in chinese..

Since I was in a rush in the previous post, I can now continue... Heh heh.. One of my fav. scene is when Zhen Yin knew about him and she's sort of hiding from him. She was with her friend at the Casablanca room when they saw him and her friend pulled her away but she was just there staring at the staircase. Oh my gosh, I could have fainted at that moment!! -don't want to give too much away for those who haven't seen it... Actually, I liked all scenes with him in it!!

Awwwww, it was their first hug too. Thanks for posting the screen captures lil_bubble. Where did you get them? I always wonder how people manage to get screen captures.

Hot DAMN! BYJ is such a HUNK! I just finished watching Hotelier again (don't know how many times already) and after seeing the screen captures, I want to watch it again.
I think I should stop; otherwise, I might get too lovesick and faint.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I agree that he does look regal. My eyes are always glued to the screen whenever he shows up. One thing I don't like about the storyline is that Dong Xian is portrayed to love Zhen Yin so much more than she loves him. I usually prefer the hero loving the heroine more, but Dong Xian is a rare exception. He just looks so romantic and sweet that I want him to be happy more often. It just breaks my heart to see him yearning for Zhen Yin and looking so lonely.

So I'm the odd one here then. I didn't really like "Hotelier" but I noticed him in that series. He had his hair cut half way through the series and I was like "Arghhhhh...NO!!!" But now I'm helplessly in with him after "Winter Sonata". Probably because I'm really rooted for tragic stories.

I used this program called VCDcutter to capture the screens. Heh heh.. My mom and I held the vcds as hostage. We were suppose to return it a week ago but we ended up re-watching it. So now I'm trying to capture as many pics as I can before I have to return it.

I know! I didn't like how Zhen Yin wasn't sure of her feelings and sort of going back and forth. My heart nearly broke when Dong Xian saw Zhen Yin and Tai Jun walking together arm in arm. Even at the end I wasn't sure if she really love him that much. I was surprised she said yes to the proposal. Oh well.. Btw, I love the quote!!

I love what he wears in there! I especially like guys in suits and BYJ is in suits 99% of the time!! Haahaa! He's jogging outfits are quite nice too.. ah.....
