But from what you are saying, Dao doesn't sound like a cool character, anyway.
hmm for some reason i'm under the impression that most actors/actresses are pretty short - they just come out as "bigger" onscreen because of stage presence or something like that, but i don't actually know if that theory is true or not. anyway. wallace is actually pretty tall; his baidu baike profile lists him at 183 cm (6 ft) - thats the same height as my dad! haha. (i actually didn't expect him to be that tall, since i think most actresses are pretty petite - that's why he always seems to "tower" over them i guess; i think most asian actresses would be around 160-something cm range? that's just a guess though...)

and no, i don't dislike Dao MingSi as a character, i just cant really see wallace playing him. he's like the rich, controlling, stubborn yet totally devoted boyfriend type. ooh! think Ou Chen but less dark and brooding

In this article, he's declaring that he's "returning" to music.

TOTALLY agree. He's extremely memorable as an actor but totally forgettable as a singer. Also, I find that he dances in a rehearsed way, unlike Rain who improvises his moves and commands an entire stadium.

When is Wallace Chung going to come back to filming dramas? Any news at all about when his drama, No Choice, will be released? Any news about any future series he will be filming? I don't like his haircut in the concert pics.

Anyway, I found a Crystal Liu-Wallace Chung MV. They actually make a stunning couple, appearance-wise.

Wallace is still jiving away. Here's a pic of Wallace in his disco dancing garb for Melanie!

Oh my goodness, someone please call him or text him or something and tell him to please come back to filming dramas! I don't like his jive outfit. Thanks for the Wallace news, xiaolong. By the way, just out of curiosity, does anyone know how his concerts are doing? Are his concert tickets sold out? Is he pretty well-received by the concert-going crowd?

Well, he's not "giving up" acting. While his agent would let him fulfill his dream of cutting a new album, it would be silly to "give up" acting altogether. They bypassed the role in Bu Bu Jing Xin as he couldn't shave his head (since he's filming MVs at the same time), but Wallace did take on roles in two other less high profile series.

别无选择 "No Choice" is a WWII series - but no news on when this will come out.
    Baidu profile: http://baike.baidu.com/view/206510.htm

He also recently finished a new Min Guo series, 菩提树下 Pu Ti Shu Xia, which will be broadcast in April 2011.

Thanks again for the news on Wallace, xiaolong! Unfortunately, I don't know how to read Chinese so I have no clue what the profiles on his new dramas say. If you have time and don't mind the terrible inconvenience, would you mind giving me a brief summary of what the profiles say? I did look at the nice picture of 菩提树下 Pu Ti Shu Xia. Wallace looks so handsome in his traditional Chinese long gown! The other two guys standing next to him in the picture are no where as handsome as my Wallace. Which actress is the lead? I'm assuming she's the one standing toward the center. What's her name? Everyone looks unfamiliar in the picture, other than Wallace Chung.

Yup, she's the girl in the green attire. The lead actress is Lv Yi (吕一) who co-starred with Wallace Huo and Chen Si Cheng in Xin Yi Jian Mei (新一剪梅), and also recently appeared as guests in Gong and Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei. I actually really like her (from her earlier series) but she doesn't get a lot of lead/meatier roles so I'm glad that's 1st lead here, but her role is supposed to be pretty tragic too. I think from the snippets I've read that Lv Yi is pairing with Hawick Lau's character, but Wallace is also in love with her too.

Hmmm, it says that it'll air in April, but it's the end of March already and I still haven't seen any trailers or news yet. I'm getting anxious already LOL

Creme de la top - Thanks for responding to my question. Now that you've mentioned Gong, I think I've seen Lu Yi in some fan-made videos of Gong. She is the very slender, young-looking girl that likes the 4th prince in Gong, right? She looks different wearing the green dress in the picture with Wallace Chung et al. I think she looks very pretty, but just extremely youthful. But given some earlier discussions about Wallace Chung looking younger than some of his female costars, I think Lu Yi would do just fine acting opposite him. She certainly will not look older than him.

Hawick Lau...isn't he a singer? Somehow, I thought he was much taller, but he seems pretty short in the picture. I've never seen him act before.

So Lu Yi's character loves Hawick's character, but Wallace's character also loves her? But from their positions in the photo, I would think Wallace is the male lead. Perhaps, I am wrong.

Do you know what characters the other two standing women play (the one in orange and the one in black)?

If this drama is really coming out in April, then I'm going to start looking for it in the dvd stores...

By the way, I found a really cute clip of Wallace Chung back in 1996.

The synopsis according to dramawiki: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Pu_Ti_Shu_Xia

"1st Master Long and his sworn brother Fang Xiu Cai, work together to save their village people during a serious epidemic. They later discover that the cause of the disease is the vicious scheme of Madam Long and 2nd Master Long. The cruel pair later plot the death of 1st Master Long and frame Fang Xiu Cai for the murder, hence causing the death of the entire Fang family with Xiu Cai's infant son being the sole survivor. While escaping death, Xiu Cai's son is accidentally swapped with the son of the Long family. The real heir of the Long family is adopted by the Guan family while Fang's son is brought up by the Long family."

So Wallace will be Guan Hou Po, and if the above synopsis is accurate, then he is real heir to the Long family. So would that make him the male lead, then? I think so, but I don't really know. At first I was under the impression that 1st lead was Hawick, but now I'm not really sure... In any case, according to their baike page, Lv Yi and Wallace's characters are 青梅竹马, but Lv Yi is forced (?) to marry Hawick Lau's character. Wallace and Hawick's characters also don't like each other, but in the midst of their fighting, Hawick also falls for Lv Yi, but decides to let her go and be happy with Wallace, all the while deeply loving her in his heart.

    Here's Lv Yi's dramawiki page: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Lv_Yi

But no, she doesn't like 4th Prince in Gong. She was the maid in white who worked at the temple where everyone's supposed to be praying for the Great Empress's health (or something like that) and she roomed with Yang Mi's character. Later, she decides to escape because her childhood lover is marrying someone else, but in the end, she dies tragically by arrows

The other girl is called Yang Rui (the one in orange), and I think she's fairly new since I've only seen her in Nic Tse's "浣花洗剑录" as this really annoying character, so I didn't pay much attention to her. If I read correctly, her character is pretty tragic here too because she's the daughter of the Long family and she falls in love with Wallace's character - but remember that he is the actual son to the Long family, so they're siblings! But of course she doesn't know about the swapped identities, which is why she plots to get rid of Lv Yi (who is Wallace's childhood lover) by marrying her off to Hawick. Don't know about the girl in black...

Oooh man, I AM pretty intrigued! Definitely tell me if this series surfaces at the dvd stores, okay?

Creme de la top - Thanks for all that information and synopsis on Wallace's new drama! That was awesome! It sounds so exciting and now I'm looking forward to this drama so much. I checked out Lu Yi's dramawiki website, and she's pretty. Maybe if she shines in this drama as the female lead, then she'll have more opportunities to act as leading female in the future. I recognize the name Yang Rui! She played Bun Yue opposite Qiao Zhen Yu's Bao Yu in Spirit of the Sword. I actually liked her. True, her character was quite annoying, but out of all four leads, I felt that she was the least annoying. Plus, second to Wallace Chung, Qiao Zhen Yu is my second most beloved actor, so I will like anyone playing Qiao Zhen Yu's love interest by default. Anyway, I think she's very pretty, also. So far, I like the two ladies in the series, so that's reassuring.

It's difficult to tell if Wallace's character will be good or evil in this series. I really hope he won't be a goody goody character in the drama. He excels in villain roles, or at least in roles where his character is partly bad, but with some redeeming qualities.

I found some clips posted by fans on tudou.com of Wallace filming Pu Ti Shu Xia.

Heheh, you're very welcome. I'm always happy to talk about Wallace (and Hawick and Lv Yi and a whole bunch of other great actors/actresses).

I agree, I was definitely very impressed with Wallace in "Too Late to Say I Love You" with Li Xiao Ran, although I prefer some of his earlier works better (particularly as Zhui Ming in 四大名捕 with Rebecca Wang Yan - he was such a lovable character!). I have a feeling he's more of the goody character just like Hawick. I'm still a big fan of Hawick, but he tends to typecast himself as these rich, handsome, goody, ideal lover/devoted husband type of roles (case in point: Yu Zheng's 国色天香) and the description makes it seem like he will be reprising this role. Well, it's okay, because that means maybe Wallace will have a chance to be somewhat bad-***

Thanks for the clips! I love the first one where the fan is screaming, "Wallace" LOL! Too bad it's so short so we can't tell what the scenes are about.

Creme de la top - I love discussing about Wallace, too! I think he's a talented actor who has proven that he can be very versatile by doing well in any type of role. Plus, he's so handsome and hot when he's playing a villain! (I haven't seen Lu Yi nor Hawick Lau act before, so I have no comment so far. Back to Wallace, I liked him Too Late To Say I Love You, also. His character definitely had numerous flaws but Wallace did a great job. If you have not done so, you should read the Too Late To Say I Love You thread. It's loaded with discussion and intereting points of view.

I thought the video of Wallace on the set eating something during his downtime is pretty funy. I wonder if the second video is by the same fan. I think if Wallace had heard the fan call out his name in the first video, he would have at least waved and smiled at her. He just seems like a genuinely friendly guy.

I found a very short clip of Wallace Chung in Pu Ti Shu Xia (菩提树下).

    http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/CPeEBz43jEk/

From the clip, it looks like he plays a country bumpkin rather than a cool villain. But the clip is very short and may not be a complete representation of his character. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Wallace's character will eventually transform from country bumpkin to suave, scheming villain. However brief the clip is, it still looks like an exciting scene where Wallace is attempting to steal the bride. Is the actor who plays the groom Hawick Lau?

Has anyone seen this series yet? I haven't had a chance to wander by the dvd store to see if it has been released yet.

Wow, I found this on tudou. Wallace Chung is at some promotion event for his new album. I don't like his songs, but he is quite handsome, even when he's not onscreen acting. He also has an infectious smile.

Hahah, I did watch the clip. So short!! And yep, Hawick's the groom. What do you think of him, Melanie? Heheh.

I haven't been able to find a longer trailer or any other clips. I guess the April release date was wrong, and now I'm quite disappointed. I was really hoping this would come out soon! I'll keep searching the baidu forums anyway.

Yes, the clip is incredibly short. But I'm so in love with Wallace Chung right now that any clip about him, no matter how brief, would make me happy. He looks cute in the short clip, but I still prefer him in martial arts dramas, acting as some cool villain.

The clip is so short that it is hard for me to get a good look at Hawick Lau. However, he uncannily resembles Bowie Lam from TVB from his side profile in that clip... Hawick's character does look kind of ticked off at Wallace's character for trying to take off with his bride.

When I get a chance to drive to Los Angeles, I'm going to look for Pu Ti Shu Xia. Maybe I'll get lucky and find it!

By the way, I found another clip of Wallace Chung in Ni Shui Han. I love this song.
    http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/jZRoq_5z7_o/
It's strange, but it has been nearly 7 years since he filmed Ni Shui Han, and yet there are tons of new MV's of Wallace in Ni Shui Han still popping up. His fans must really love his villainous role in there. Unfortunately, poor Wallace Chung doesn't seem to have that many fans here at spcnet, as sometimes, I feel like I'm jabbering to myself in this thread. Thank goodness you have somehow dropped out of nowhere and started posting in here.

And please do keep me updated about what the baidu forums are saying about Wallace. I unfortunately do not read Chinese and the English forums do not have a lot of information on him.

Hahah, that's me, appearing out of nowhere! I'm not that active on forums, actually, especially since I have my youtube account to talk about mainland series and actors/actresses with =) But I know, it's sad. The only really active forums for mainland artists are in baidu, but my Chinese is also quite limited, so I can't ever chime in with anything! Anyway, I went to check the baike page again and ugh, no updates. It still says airing in April lol. But I will definitely update you if I find out more!

I haven't watched the series you're talking about though. But he plays a villain? Hmm, I might just check it out! Do you have a baike link or something?

Ooh, also, if you're wondering about Lv Yi. She plays a concubine in Ady & William's upcoming series, "The Emperor's Harem". The trailer just released yesterday, and I think Lv Yi's character is quite juicy, and she looks absolutely gorgeous! The trailer is 15 minutes long, and she appears in a lot of scenes if you're interested in viewing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTo_i7TbxPA
