I can't say that I would call his feelings for YR "love" anymore.

Ohhhh...he definitely loves her alright. But instead of abiding by the old saying "If you really love someone, you have to learn to let them go", he was doing the opposite The more he loves, the more he couldn't let go....especially after finding out Xiang Tian wasn't dead. He couldn't possibly let her fall into another man's arms-that's why he went and got her back (at the time).

I don't know, I thought this whole ordeal of her being in that household, tortured by the man that loves her was the main plot of the series, or the novel? I enjoyed every fight they had and happened to like this kind of angst in a series. It keeps me entertained..LOL. What I really want is to see the behind the scene clips, wished they would release it.

lambayyx, what he did was really horrible but I guess he didn't know how to handle the fact that she loved another man. He was angry and hurting but he matures so much afterwards.

aiYRong, I think Zhi Xia's father wanted to make Xiang Tian his successor since he was going to marry Zhi Xia. When her father announced it, Zhi Xia interrupted the celebration and said that she wanted to marry Chirui instead. So she is not marrying Chirui because she loves him more. I'm not happy about it either but it's better than the alternative of Chirui forcing her into marriage. Hopefully this means that Zhi Xia will finally give Chirui a chance since she was the one who dragged him into this to begin with.

Ok so I just watched the last episode. WHAT THE H*LL KIND OF ENDING WAS THAT? So Zhi Xia supposedly fell to her death. She let go in order to save both Chirui and Xiang Tian but then at the very end, we hear Zhi Xia calling out both their names and they turn around aaaand it ENDS? Just like that? What! Does that mean she is not really dead?! I hate endings like this! Gaah! The movie ending had such a stronger impact. I'm off to cry now.

Edit2: Soo, I have now had time to mourn Setting the movie version aside, the ending is quite meaningful on its own. Bascially, both guys were willing to die to save her but ultimately she ended up dying to save them. Though I'm still a bit weirded out by her calling out to them.

Just got done with the last episode. Though, I liked the dynamics of having the two men fighting and trying to save the love of their life, but instead having her sacrifice her life to save the two guys, I still preferred the movie ending or the ending you've read it would be. That is for her to kill herself to save Chirui from being killed by Xiang Tian.

The series was supposed to emphasized the love triangle amongst the three lead, and to the end, she would still have to choose. And for her to die for one of them would have made the ending more unforgettable. The series ending, she did make that sacrifice for both to live, which is very touching....but it's more like she have no choice but forced to let go. Before she fell to her death, she said something to Xiang Tian, did she even say anything to Chirui? I was watching the youtube version and the scene kind of skipped I think. I would hate it even more if she didn't say her final feelings for him

I must say, my tears didn't come down when Zhi Xia dies as I expected I would, but it fell many times during her days at Chirui's house, not when she's being tortured even, more when it was the sentimental times they shared together. Such as when he returned her baby after she thought he threw it into the well, and when he was feeding her the desert, and when he finally gave her the divorce paper. Those were the most heart warming and touching to me

So the end scene where the two guys were talking at the cliff. After Chirui left, Xiang Tian was thinking of going off the cliff? Ummm...hellooo. Why wait 5 years later to suddenly commit suicide after your love ones gone? Shouldn't he have done that right after she fell? It would have redeemed and made his character more memorable at that point. When he was about to step off, her "voice" stopped him. He turned around, I swear his eyes looked like it was seeing something, and even beginning a teary eye. But if she was alive, she wouldn't have been calling out Chirui's name at the same time at a different place. Kinda spooky...LOL.

I'm not content with her marrying Chirui at all. Throughout the series, I did not see a glimpse of hope of her even loving him. I was waiting..waiting...waiting...waiting!! Despite the plot holes, character, and filming flaws in this series, I've enjoyed the series very much. This may be one of my favorite YR's character so far. I think her acting was fantastic in the series.... Of course being infatuated with the dreamy ZYL's charisma, acting, and character helped too...LOL.

hjelp and I posted this picture earlier. This is the director that was responsible for having YR and ZYL in two series together(QDSS and My Love To Tell You). In reply to this picture, he said along the lines of: Nothing to say but blame fate once again!. QDSS is definitely a must-watch for fans of YR. Even though Zhi Xia is not the most interesting character YR has played IMO, she is still one of the most lovable ones and YR gets to showcase some of her best acting. It definitely takes an emotional toll on you that's for sure. Despite the fact that Zhi Xia didn't love Chirui back in the same way that she loved Xiang Tian, ZYL and Chirui emerges on top as he is by far the standout of the two male leads. At one point in the series she did say that she owes him too much in this life, and that she will repay him in the next (as in love him in the next life). I'd like to think positive and believe that they ended up together in another unseen life

Regarding the ending. Her last words were actually directed at both guys. She started out by saying that Xiang Tian should let go, but then she says to both of them (you can see her eyes shifting between them) something along the lines of: You keep on living well, I thank God that I got to have you in my life. Then she tells them to take care of Yoyo and tell her that she loves her. And finally she says that she will be watching over them from heaven. I guess that explains why we could hear her voice at the end. Kind of weird that they had both of them turn around though, why didn't they just look up the sky?

I totally agree that Zhi Xia is not the most interesting character out of all YR's roles, in fact, I thought it was one of the most inconsistent and I may even "dislike" the character at times because it had so many flaws. May it be the plot, her co-stars, or the reason why I say it's my favorite was because YR delivered and exceeded my expectations with her acting (not saying she haven't in other series), and it's the only series and role I could sit through and watch to the end. Whereas, in other series I couldn't continue because I just didn't like her roles or her co-stars. Heck, honestly, I don't think I'll be able to finish this if it weren't for YR and ZYL!!! They are sooooooooooooooooooo good together! LOL.

In my opinion, Zhi Xia was only inconsistent when it was related to Xiang Tian. She hardly ever doubted his decisions or actions even though they seemed to contradict the very nature of her character (i.e. kind, compassionate, selfless etc.). Still, I like my characters to be a bit more complex than Zhi Xia, so to be truly honest, Chirui turned out to be my all time favorite.
Still, QDSS is definitely also my favorite YR series. I loved the entire concept of the series ever since I watched the movie but the YR/ZYL dynamic was without a doubt the best thing about the series. They acted out the whole passive/aggressive relationship to perfection. I honestly did not expect anything less of YR. She continues to impress me with every role. I have been disappointed in some of her roles (the amount of screen time or the direction of her character) but I have yet to be disappointed in her actual acting performance.

I am soooo impressed by YR’s singing. She did a really good job! At first I thought it wasn’t her because I couldn’t recognize her singing voice but then I later watched a video where she participated in a game show and we get to hear her sing for a small bit. Turns out she really can sing

To date, Xiao Huan Yun is the most intriguing role YR has played. It is such a shame that the rest of the series couldn’t hold my interest.
I’m also really looking forward to her role as Du Xiao Han (Lady & Liar). I think that YR will kick major a** in that role BUT I also cannot wait to watch RongLong together onscreen again! That duo has secured a special place in my heart! Let’s hope their roles allow them to showcase their amazing chemistry again. I was sooo disappointed in the YR and GYX relationship in Gong III. This was mostly because YR’s character had no redeeming qualities at all!
And although I’m indifferent towards “Making of a Beauty”, I think YR’s character could end up surprising me and I do hope that the ratings will be good AND that we get to hear YR sing again

Yes, most of the inconsistency was related to Xiang Tian as you've mentioned above. However, there were things that I could recall what she did, I was like "huh", isn't that kind of selfish of her? Maybe I'm a little bit picky...LOL. So, I did take into consideration that this is only a drama, it's not perfect, and anything goes. Just use our imagination, etc...haha.

-As I've mentioned ealier in the thread. Her leaving the house after she have been legally announced/introduced as Chirui's wife to the elders. I mean, she knew the etiquette to go see them in the first place, that shows a sign of respect, but then she decided to run away, that shows (to me) she could careless what what they think.
-She had her step-father helped her get away. She saw how vicious Chirui could be. Wasn't she concern that her father might get in trouble? Or what what the first wife that helped her?
-She went to see Xiang Tian at the village. He was about to get married. She fainted. After she got well, he dropped her off and they confessed their feelings for each other, then I assumed shortly they got married and consumated. Now, what about Xiang Tian's wife to be? Was her feelings taken into consideration? And she knows she's somebody else's wife already right? I think if the order of the situation was different it would have been better and more understanding. That is, she and Xiang Tian spent time together, fall in love when he first kidnapped her, got married, and pregnant before she came into Chiruis life (as in the movie).
-Again, as mentioned earlier in the thread-when Zhi Xia trying to save Xiang Tian by using the medallion of the man he tried to kill. Its kind of funny how she could easily walk into the house asking to pardon Xiang Tian and not expect Chirui or his men to see her?

These were just some I could think of at the moment. Oh well...It's a drama.

ZYL IS Chirui! I can't imagine any one else playing him and whenever I see ZYL I will think of Chirui. But Chirui would not be the guy I've come to love so much without Zhi Xia, so it will be difficult to watch him pair up with anyone other than YR. Likewise it will take A LOT for any other male co-star to exceed the chemistry that YR and ZYL managed to create.

Yep that's the one. There was no auto-tune and it was live and she still managed to hit all the notes and sound great.

I miss them already. We'll be like all the RongLong fans and hope for a 3rd collaboration with a happy ending for the two!! But it have to be same type of angst though. Chirui and Zhi Xia in modern times I also hope they will be able to ignite their chemistry in their 2nd series as well, but I won't expect too much. It all depends on their roles.

Okay, so I finally finished QDSS. Man, those final episodes wringed some major tears out of me. Zhi Xia is definitely not YR's funnest role, but I at least appreciated that she felt real (even if her forgiving everybody is not very real). I never saw the movie, so I find the ending to be really touching.

I never disliked Zhi Xia or found her to be selfish. She pursued her happiness. Yes, she put these people's "pride" and "reputation" on the line by doing so, but I don't see reputation to be more important than happiness. It doesn't make sense that she should endure misery just to maintain their reputation. I also didn't really care how she treated Chirui when he was trapping her, because he was doing the same thing, if not worse, to the first wife. At least Zhi Xia showed him basic compassion, whereas he was completely indifferent towards the first wife and never checked on her (until of course she went crazy from drug addiction. took him long enough). I enjoy the angst between Chirui and Zhi Xia, but it went on for too long and got too much. I'd say 50% of their angst was the right amount of angst for me LOL. I started off anticipating that I would ship Chirui and Zhi Xia, but I think their relationship just wasn't what I expected. It needed more of their dynamics near the end. When he finally valued her happiness over his own, that was when I felt like he loved her most.

Hmmmm, in conclusion, I definitely enjoyed the last 10 episodes more than the rest of the series. I look forward to seeing ZYL and YR on the same screen again though. Can't deny the chemistry :3

Chirui is extremely flawed but he grows so much at the end of the series. As I previously mentioned, he didn’t know how to handle the situation. I definitely agree that his love for her probably reached the highest point when he decided to let her go (that’s not to say that he didn’t love her before). I absolutely loved the scene where he finally makes that decision. He smiles so sadly yet with so much happiness. What she did (save his grandma) turned his love for her unconditional (no grudges and no expectations), and that’s what made him finally realize that he needed to let her go.

Even though Chirui and Zhi Xia’s relationship was unhealthy and abusive, I still cannot help but support RuiXia. Xiang Tian was simply a poorly developed character. I disliked him more and more as the series processed. My love for Xiang Tian peaked at the beginning of the series whereas my love for Chirui peaked at the end. Xiang Tian was soo arrogant and full of himself and he had so little trust in Zhi Xia and her love for him. Zhi Xia honestly deserved better from a man whom she had endured so much misery for. Sigh, if only they had developed Xiang Tian more as a character.

I agree about Xiang Tian. Had Zhi Xia not happen to love him back, I don't think he would've been a better man than Chirui. Zhi Xia didn't resent him holding her in that village? but it doesn't mean that what he did was correct. I disliked how controlling he was and how he didn't try to understand Zhi Xia's position. There was nothing about Xiang Tian -- no traits, no characteristics -- that made me think, oh I understand why Zhi Xia loves him so much, and why it just has to be him. It was more like.. I understood that she fell in love with Xiang Tian first and so she stayed faithful to him.

And I failed to mention this earlier, the one thing I didn't understand about Zhi Xia was how she was ok with Xiang Tian wanting to kill her bio dad.. The man showed her kindness even before he knew she was his daughter and she expressed no concern that he was going to be assassinated? Lol.
