wow. from the happy camp episode teaser, the actors look so much better off-set. Is it the make up/costume that makes them look unnatural? =/

But anyways, I absolutely agree that the foreigner is so out of place. From what I see, he really IS like a Disney caricature or something. Like they sort of just inserted him in there, and it makes no sense. And yes, it probably doesn't help that he looks like some guy dressing up as Guybrush Threepwood for Halloween.

the only good looking character here is the one playing zhao wei... eddie peng should have played 5 brother!

...it's out already?? I wasn't expecting it till August. I'd definitely be interested to hear reviews if anyone's seen them!

btw the ZW actress looks pretty good in a few of the photoshopped posters. Who is really forgettable though are the Er Kang and Xiao Jian actors...I honestly can't picture their face in my head unless I have their pic right in front of me. They have a super generic, boring face. >_<

I took a glimpse at a few scenes. Can't judge anything yet except for the fact I like the title and end theme songs. LOL. Since I started watching this drama with VERY LOW expectations, the parts I've seen are better than I expected. The only thing I can conclude right now is that Li Sheng's Xiao Yan Zi is better than Huang Yi's version. I'm rather bored right now, so this will keep me entertain for awhile.

i saw the first episode! my chinese is very limited, but i was too impatient for subs.

it was fairly enjoyable. Li Sheng as XYZ is very fun to watch...super cute and energetic. I'm excited to see her tackle more challenging scenes. Hai Lu as ZiWei wasn't too bad (although she hasn't had too many important scenes yet). She looks a lot more boring in pictures than in the actual drama.

If anyone wants to see episode 1-4, you can go to http://tv.sohu.com/s2011/xhzgg/ to see them. This site publishes almost exactly after the episodes are finished premiering. They don't have subs though. They also have the previews for the next 2 episode that premiere later. I really like the episodes this fair and xiao yan zi is really funny. I wish zi wei and er kang will meet sooner because I want to see their scenes. They finally meet in the next episode and I am really anticipating it. They look really cute in the preview.

I've watched ep.1-4 and I must say this show is a nice remake one. I like the way they use various background songs from the original 1, 2 and 3, (especially Nai He song from season3). that make me feel like OH! It's really Huan Zhu Ge Ge with refreshing feeling. Both new tiitle and ending songs are really nice!

Li Sheng's acting as Xiao Yan Zhi is different from Vicki Zhao. She acts on her own way, not copy from Vicki at all. Hai Lu as Zhi Wei is better than I expected (since I don't like her acting and her smile from trailer).

Still have more 70+ episodes to go on **sigh**

I finished the first 4 episodes too, and quite enjoyed this new remake. I like it much better than Huan Zhu 3, which was a nightmare for me. The acting is definitely not great, and subpar for a few of the characters. But I'm quite tolerant since I know a lot of them are newbies challenging themselves in quite difficult roles, so I'll commend them for their efforts. At least no matter how bad their acting gets, it can't be worse than some of the new TVB artists I've seen.

According to Sohu, I think this remake has a total of 98 episodes? Hopefully, I'll have the patience to finish it.

Complaints:
- some comedic moments come off as very dried, awkward, and boring. One scene in particular really annoys me. Xiao Yan Zi's lack of understanding of the Chinese food names was too long and annoying. It didn't make her look cute, but stupid.
- Benjamin character still seems out of place for me. He's less annoying than I expected, but still not likeable for me.
- Zi Wei has really large empty eyes. Don't see much emotion in them.
- Some overacting from the 5th Prince. Much room for improvements.
- Don't feel any fatherly vibe from the Emperor yet, but he does look kind and majestic.

Likes:
- Love the scenery, sets, and cinematography.
-Sheren Tang's portrayal the Empress
- Title/end theme songs
- Xiao Yan Zi is pretty decent
- Background music/score
- choreography for the fight scenes is a big improvement from previous versions
- Love the flashbacks between Emperor and Zi Wei's mother (Ruby Lin). It was quite refreshing to watch.
-Some of the Xiao Yan Zi's antics are actually pretty funny i.e. scene where she was selling her martial arts skill with the red ball in the open market.

I've always been a BIG fan of the Yong Qi/Xiao Yan Zi storyline, so really looking forward to their scenes in this remake. The clips in the opening/end theme songs look promising. I'll throw in a few photos I like of them too.

OH MY GOD! I thought it has around 80+ episodes. Anyway since it combines original plot 1-3 together, then 98 episodes should be fine for me. I heard the plot from the original 3 will be all deleted, only the part of Xiao Yan Zhi's family will be kept.

i just finish watching the 1st and 2nd ep. and i think its alright.. i never watch the older version so i don't know how good it was.. but the new version is so far so good.. some of the artists in there are soso.. but i agree what JoleCole said. "At least no matter how bad their acting gets, it can't be as worse as some of the new TVB artists I've seen" thumb up for that..anyway overall this is worth to watch..the music and the theme and end song sounds great.. everytime i watch this drama . i always imagine what it would like if Yang Mi as XYZ in this lol.. i just can't help it...i can't stop think of that lol...
anway time to go back and watch the ep 3 and 4 now..
