Shutter Island - I almost fell asleep at one point and didn't care for the main character (in contrast to my feelings about what happened to R.P. McMurphy at the end of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...)

The Shawshank Redemption - I can't believe it took me this long to see this film. I absolutely loved it. James Whitmore's Brooks broke my heart.

Okay, I need to stop this BS.

Alice in Wonderland - which I doze off during the first half of the movie. It wasn't a boring movie to that extend (it was not bad, in fact) but I guess my bestpal understand that I was too tired. And by the time the movie end, it was almost 12am.

How was it? I've got it, but I want to reread the manga first to refresh my memory of it.

I've heard mixed opinions of it.

    Out for a Kill.
Gosh, it was so bad it was funny. But why am I surprised, it is a post-2000 Seagal flick.

I've never read the manga, but I liked the two films I've seen (moreso the first than the second probably 'cause Karasawa Toshiaki barely appears in the second part). The casting is excellent, although you might have a different take since you've actually read the manga.

Is the plot coherent? For a very long manga laden with a complicated plot, I was worried they wouldn't be able to pull it off or pace it well. When I reread the manga, and watch it, I'll tell you what I thought of it.

The plot is coherent (though I've read some comments made by others to the contrary), but some of the characters were a challenge to keep track of. They're probably more fleshed out in the manga. Maybe I'll give the manga a shot.

I recently watched Mibu Gishi Den (When the Last Sword is Drawn), a film about a misunderstood samurai who joins the Shinsengumi in order to support his family during a tumultuous period in Japanese history. The first half was pretty exciting, but the second was so sad. I don't remember Yoshimura at all from the NHK drama about the Shinsengumi. Sato Koichi played Saito in here and yet his portrayal was very similar to his portrayal of Serizawa in the TV drama. On the other hand, Sakai-san's portrayal of Okita almost made me forget that he was Yamanami on TV.

The manga is very good. If you liked 20th Centuries Boys, you should also look into Monster, another manga by Urasawa.

I read the summary of Monster and am intrigued already. Thanks for the recommendation.

How To Train Your Dragon. A very fun ride (pun intended), with a small unexpected twist in the ending.

Bodyguards and Assassins. Am entertained by Nic Tse and Chris Li's acting.

20th Century Boys Part 3. Now to hunt for Part 2.

Oh, and My Name Is Khan. Which would probably be more enjoyable for those who are used to Bollywood movies.

    Bodyguards and Assassins on DVD...

I found it a shame that Hu Jun's character, for all his powerful aura, did not get to fight any of the good fighters among the bodyguards at all (he had a few exchanges with Leon Lai and of course lost his horse to Donnie Yen, but neither of them were in any fighting condition anymore).

And I cheered when Simon Yam died. All those non-skippable Easy-Pharmax adverts in the TVB DVD sets finally got to me, I guess... =)

I last saw the movie "Four women Conflicts" in DVD. It was great to watch this kind of movie. I really enjoyed it a lot.

Just watched How To Train Your Dragon in the theatre yesterday! It reminds us of some good moral lessons. Go watch it! And I agree with leorio, it was a fun ride and I didn't expect the ending part!

That sucks! I really wanted to catch it because it's kinda like a childhood movie for me. I still remember how I couldn't get my eyes off the amazing claymation works from the first production. What was it that killed the movie? The visual effects not convincing or?

I was deciding between How To Train Your Dragon and Clash of the Titans since the available slot for both are going to be around 11.30pm and end at wee hours. I picked the former in the end due to the seatings.

The script was just bad and jarring. Its special effects weren't great either.
And it was really cheesy with the Greek Gods feeding on the love of the people thing. I understand this is a remake, but I still take issue with it. I mean Zeus acts like an insecure bully. Zeus from the pantheon could atleast inspire fear into everyone. This one wasn't a raging sex machine like pantheon Zeus is either. And why is Hades always copping the blame. The ruler of the underworld doesn't always have to be evil and despicable.
