Default Shaolin Basketball - ooops NOT! - ITS Kung Fu Dunk - Jay Chou new film

    IMDB: http://imdb.com/title/tt0848538/
    Trailer with sub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mSd7LaeAfA
Release date: Hong Kong - 7 February 2008

Strange that it credit Takehiko Inoue as the source, the mangaka of Slam Dunk. From the trailer there is no similarity with Slam Dunk except the basketball. This is more like a serious version of Shaolin Soccer with basketball instead of soccer.

Well I like kungfu, so its better than nothing

I'm sure the only similarity is the "SLAM DUNK" thingy (jumps in the air and shoot). The storyline, characters are all not going to be like the manga. The original manga doesn't have kungfu haha.

This is only an imitation of Shaolin Soccer plot, which I'm not complaining coz as I said I like kungfu.

Zhu Yan Ping and Jay Chou lame is how you describe it..

I think the only thing resembling SLAM DUNK is the story's basic set-up framework

Jay chou's playing a 桜木花道 kinda character.., a kickass fighter but basketball novice..

I am definitely watching this one as well, watched all of Jay Chou's movies so far, yes I am a fan of Jay Chou, sure I agree his movies are not exactly masterpieces. But why don't some of you guys watch the movie first before writing it off as lame?

Wait so is Jay Chou directing this? Cause I just saw Secret....and it was actually really good. I thought Jay was overrated but he's actually really talented.

I recently, watched this today. Its not a bad movie, at least they willing to spend the money, for the storyline, special effects, music, sound effects, etc.

totally unrealistic games, other than those impossible fake dunks, and half court shots..... 1) they only show transition basketball, meaning 1 side has to miss before it happens, but both side kept scoring, no way they can get on transition that fast. 2) they only have 1 ref, when there should be 3 ref. 3)so many other stuff i dont want to list it...

i guess it is kung fu dunk but this isnt even basketball, this is like .... slam ball.

:edit: i wrote that comment after the first half of the movie...

2nd half: lmao its like a martial arts movie mixed with fake wrestling and everything. wtf tihs is disgrace to basketball

I watched it on DVD and although the plotwas abit onthe flimsy side,it was all that you would expect from a movie with the movie kung Fu Dunk... I think the title was justified because he learned his skills from a temple... his situation was much like Jacky Chan's in Drunken Master (?) only in a more modern setting... all in all, not bad...
