Hello guys! Glad to find some discussion about QZY in English and see so many international admirers of his out here. Boy it sure took me a while to read all 28 pages of comments so far in this thread, I'm amazed that some of you have been following his work since back in 2004.

It's my first post in this forum so let me start with a bit of a self introduction. I was born in mainland China, came to U.S. at age 16, but has now spent more years in this country than in China (you do the calculations). I found this place rather easily by searching for the term "Qiao Zhen Yu" on yahoo. I fell for this young actor several months back when I watched the Snow Flower (XHNSL) series on line. I had actually noticed and liked him previously in Story of a Noble Family (Jin Fen Shi Jia) and Seven Swordsmen of Mount Heaven (Qi Jian Xia Tian Shan) but did not really get hooked until Snow Flower, and since then I couldn't stop chasing after him from one TV series to another. So I watched Spirit of the Sword, followed by Book and Sword (yes I think I know everything there is to know about swords after watching these shows). I even watched Seven Swordsmen a second time to refresh my memory about all of his parts in it. In a rush of adoring madness I wrote a 3000-word-plus piece about him entitled "Cherish that Innocence in Your Eyes -- Impressions of Xiao Qiao" and posted it on both his official site forum and his baidu forum, which marked my official entrance into QZY fanhood.

As a new fan, I am surely not as knowledgeable as dogwood who is a moderator on QZY's official site. But I thought I'd simply put up some of my favorite pictures, I apologize if you have seen them before.

Chen Jia Luo, as someone mentioned earlier, this definitely reminds me of Lawrence of Arabia, or even Rudolf Valentino.

That series is called Xin Zui Da Jin Zhi (Taming of the Shrew or Princess Sheng Ping), his character in it is called Qin Feng. I've never seen this series either.

Whoops! My bad. I missed all your replies since my yahoo e-mail sent everything from this forum to spam folder automatically!

Prinxess, my screen name derives from an obscure song from my favorite band Genesis (Peter Gabriel era) entitled "Lilywhite Lilith".

My husband is an ABC as well, although he does not really want to admit he is Chinese in any way, shape or form. He has never been to China and is not interested in going either. He speaks some Cantonese, otherwise Chinese illiterate. We converse in English exclusively since I don't understand Cantonese.

I'm glad you are curious about what I wrote about QZY, however translating it into English would be time-consuming and it'd be hard for me to find the time after work. It took me almost a week to write the original piece in Chinese. I'm moderating multiple Baidu discussion forums (mostly focused on musicians) as well as currently reading several Chinese novels on line (mostly Wuxia and historical romance). Alas, there are not enough hours in a day!

That is unfortunately true for English speaking fans of his. However, you'd be surprised, Qiao Zhen Yu may be more well-known in China than you think.

Since I've been catching up on Chinese novels recently, it is interesting to note QZY's role of Ou Yang Ming Ri is so popular and influential among young people in China that I found dozens of similar characters, i.e., attractive paraplegic miracle healer/genius, in recent novels (this does not even include the myriads of fan fictions). Additionally, wherever there is a popular fictional character from ancient China described as "young, talented, elegant, handsome" by the author, you will find a lot of readers vocally support QZY to be cast in the role in case the character is brought to the screen. I dubbed it "The QZY phenomenon".

Oh I remember you from youtube. I asked your opinion on many many musicians.

I didn't know you were a QZY fan...I am looking forward to his series, Chinese Dating. Do you know when that will air?

Hey cfensi, I remember you as well. It's a small world, isn't it?

I just became a fan of Qiao Zhen Yu a few months ago, I was shocked at first that I could admire someone who is younger than me. I don't know when the series will be airing, all I know is it is done shooting. Personally I prefer his TV series which are set in the ancient times.

    Oh, that's really interesting!!!
I hope he is cast in a lot of "young, talented, elegant, handsome" roles!!
Why is it that some Wuxia series from China have subs (Seven Swordmen) and some don't (most of QZY's other work)???
Thank god for mysoju and asianrice but even they don't have all his stuff.

It is...well, I guess there's not that many places that place emphasis on Chinese series.

Due to his dance background I think QZY was at first more likely to get better roles in ancient dramas, versus good roles in modern dramas, where he has no advantage in his resume. But since he has some fame now, and is, I believe, in Hua Yi, a very good company, hopefully this new modern drama will be good.

Here are a few pictures from the set of QZY's current film Legend of the Waist Drum (Yao Gu Chuan Qi). Seeing him all decked out in traditional waist drum outfit in this rural "drummer boy" look is rather unusual yet cute, don't you agree?

And then there is the much-talked-about smurf T-shirt...
