Default Did Kiu Fung consider Deun Yu when he thought Deun Jing Tsun was Leader Big Brother?

After Kiu Fung received false information from Madame Ma that Deun Jing Tsun was the mysterious "Leader Big Brother" figure who had caused him so much trouble, Kiu Fung was bent on settling his vendetta against the man whom he thought was his mortal enemy.

Kiu Fung knew that Deun Jing Tsun was a prince of Dali, first in line of succession to the throne. He must have also known that Deun Yu, the new sworn brother he had met a few months ago, was the son of this Deun Jing Tsun (or at least a close relative).

Did the thought ever cross Kiu Fung's mind that if Deun Jing Tsun were indeed Leader Big Brother, that would put Kiu Fung at odds with Deun Yu, who was one of his last friends (other than Ah Chu)? Not that this would have stopped Kiu Fung, but it seems like Kiu Fung never even thought about it.

The matter was also tactfully not discussed between Kiu Fung and Deun Yu when they met again later in DGSD.

Qiao Feng, Ah Zhu, Wang Yuyan, etc --> although they'd met Duan Yu, they had no idea that he was Duan Zhengchun's son.

His ability to use 6 Mak Divine Swords should have given it away, though.

Even for the likes of Qiao Feng, he knew very little about 6MSJ, he had only heard of its name in legends. Qiao Feng assumed that an ordinary person from Dali could learn 6MSJ, and that Duan Yu was just an ordinary person.

Qiao Feng had thought that Duan Zhengchun would be TEN times more powerful than Duan Yu since Duan Zhengchun was a royalty, which was of course very far from the truth.

Let that be an admonishment against anyone who thinks XF underestimates his opponents and just charges in with 18 Dragon Subduing Palms.

Kiu Fung did have a tendency to grossly overestimate his opponents (at least if he didn't know them and only heard of their reputations). There's his overestimation of the Deun Family for starters, and he also believed that "Leader Big Brother's" martial arts would be far more powerful than his own. I think he also believed at one point that Mo Yung F'uk's martial arts were probably better than his.

When I viewed DGSD 1982, I always thought that Murong Fu was super uber powerful, especially when Ken Tong Jan Yip uttered "6MSJ is far inferior compared to the skills of Young Master Murong." But novel readers will have several hints along the way that Murong Fu is no match for Qiao Feng. Wang Yuyan confessed that Murong Fu did not have enough proficiency yet to master Reverend Xuanbei's skill; this couples with Sweeper Monk's statement later imply that Murong Fu is not yet able to learn any of the 72 arts, which means he's definitely weaker than a Xuan generation monk.

But yes, Qiao Feng is usually quite humble and underspoken.

i don't think XF overestimated the Duan Dali family. before meeting Duan Yu, he had been unmatched in Jianghu. so what else could he think of the Duan family when this crack-brained student was the first person who could match up with him in internal energy and qing gong, Duan Yu even showed off his 6 mai shen jian being capable of piercing a rock block (from a distance of 1 zhang? - iirc).
Yang Guo & Zhou Botong said in Chapters 6, 11 & 25 of ROCH:
    - 这道姑也算得美了,只是还不及桃花岛郭伯母,更加不及我姑姑。
    - 原来郭伯母竟是这般美貌,小时候我却不觉得。
    - 龙姑娘,我瞧你品貌才智,和那小黄蓉不相上下,武功也跟她差不离。

I won't rate MRF to be necessarily weaker than a Xuan generation monk. If we are looking at solely internal energy, then yes. However, I always thought that MRF relied more on technique and lesser on internal energy. He was unable to learn the 72 arts of Shaolin because his internal energy foundation was not sufficient, but overall, I reckon he would be able to take on Xuan Ci.

Xuan Ci = Duan Yan Qing while DYQ >>>> MRF
