Scenario (*credit to bonnie at Eric Suen's fan club*):

This is an ancient story happening at an unspecified time, unclear age in an indistinct dynasty.

Shang Tian Bao, an unable emperor, is ordered by Empress Dowager to take a long vacation. He is disguised as a common citizen and goes to "Tai Ping Zhen", a small town in Jiang Nan.

Shang Tian Bei, the spoiled and mischievous princess, dresses as a man and escapes from the palace. In her journey to look for her imperial brother, she runs into many accidents. Fortunately, she gets the help of Kong Long, a kind-hearted marauder, and his gang of buddies. Hereafter, they keep company in their trip, resulting in all kinds of jokes.

The so called "Peaceful Town" is actually not peaceful at all. "Official Mei" is weak and incapable. He even helps the wicked to bully the townsfolk. Ye Ying Ying, the hypocritical owner of a tea plantation, relies on the influential power of Mei and is maltreating the folk. Seeing the townspeople deceived by the fradulent barons, Shang Tian Bao has a heartache and decides to save the people there. So he endures contempt and joins the tea plantation as an undercover worker.

In the boundless world, Hua Xiao Xiao, the daughter of wealthy "Master Hua", only falls for the dark and delicate Shang Tian Bei. Facing the reverie wooing of the diehard Hua Xiao Xiao, Shang Tian Bei tries to avoid her by all means and experiences much hardship. All these lead to a series of hysterical shots of compulsory wedding, fradulent marriage and escort marriage.

On the face of it, Kong Que, the owner of a lodging house called "Affinity", is a greedy and mean woman. In reality, she is the gallant and generous heroine who scares wicked people like Master Hua Qing to death. Shang Tian Bao has run into this heroine and fights with her a couple of times. He falls for her secretly but does not realize that she is Kong Que, whom he dislikes and quarrels with so often.

With the assistance of the gang of Kong Long, Shang Tian Bei finally escapes from the mansion of Hua Xiao Xiao. When Shang Tian Bei discovers that Hua transfer her love to Kong Long, she gets mad and jealous. Shang has fallen in love with Kong Long!

Shang Tian Bao finds out a big secret. A courtier is secretly connected with Hua Qing and Ye Ying Ying, aiming at overthrowing his government. They are conspiring to kill him. All in a sudden, Shang is in peril. As a matter of fact, who is the wicked backroom boy? How can Shang Tian Bao escape from the danger? What would be the ending of their extraordinary romances? How can Empress Dowager and Ye Ying Ying settle their benevolence and hatred?

The ending is unexpected but reasonable...
You will find out happy answers from the various jests of this fantastic, humorous, light comedy.

Kind-hearted good people will have happy endings whereas bad people will be ultimately punished by God.

Yo Lady Zhuge,

DO tell us if this series is any good. I didn't see it anywhere here in S'pore.... .some shows just never made it here like Nicky Wu"Silk Road." I'm waiting for my regular rental store to get Luyi's "Turn Right, Turn Left."

Hiya tinac,

Will do. I'm just not sure when I'll get a chance to watch this, though. I like the main cast and the story sounds pretty interesting and funny, so it will be on my list. I hope it makes it to Singapore!

"Turn Left, Turn Right" is another series I want to watch, but have no time for right now.

Thanks for all the info! This series looks really good. I am hoping to see it when I have time.I haven't seen Eric and Huang Hai Bing in a series in a long time....

By the way, yesasia says that this series has 24 VCDs in all. Is that really the whole series? they have made mistakes before.

No, that's not the whole series. It's just the first half.

I watched a couple of episodes to get a sneak peek and it's definitely a comedy. Just in the first two episodes alone, you get some sex jokes, Shang Tian Bao talking to a turtle and wearing a dress while Shang Tian Bei is dressed like a man and unknowingly earns the love and adoration of another girl.

The computer effects are kind of amateurish which sometimes gives this series a videogame-like feeling, but it's not a big deal.

Just in case anyone needs a clarification:

Huang Hai Bing plays Shang Tian Bao
Eric Suen plays Kong Long
Dai Jiao Qian plays Shang Tian Bei
Chen Ya Lun plays Kong Que

I saw an advertisement of this on TV a day or two ago. But I don't like the costumes especially Eric Suen's hair. How in the world did people in the olden days dye their hair? Or if it's natural, then he has very bad health!

This isn't exactly a realistic show, so I don't think hair color was a priority for the directors.

yeah that's probally true I guess, but I'm not really the fairy tale type. I like very little fantasy, I like realistic films like the qian long ones

hullo!!! hey! this came out already?!
wow!!! i want to watch this too! i really like Dai Jiao Qian!!!
hey LZ, guess what?
i was sooo happy yesterday. when we went to the temple to pray, i saw a nearby shop that sells dvds of tv series!!! good lord!!!!
the prices, its soooo cheap!!!!
its because they put 10-12 episodes in 1 disc, so a 40 to 50 episode tv series has only 4 discs!!! and the pirce of one disc is soooo cheap!!!
but the quality is very good!!! the cover's nice too, it looks like an original copy.
and guess what, they have all the latest tv series!!! and movies too!!!
so i got my own copy of Kung Fu Hustle, Stage Beauty, All About Love, Phantom of the Opera and loads of Korean movies!!! weee!!! i am so happy!!!! now i can collect all the tv series i want without going bankrupt!!!
i also got my own copy of Jian Lin Tian Xia and Tian Yi Sheng Shui.
i really prefer dvds now, its more economical, plus you don't have to get up to change discs every now and then!

i will go back next week and see if they have this and Qin Wang Li Shi Min already!!! hope they have it!

Hi Jenny! Yep, this whole series has been released now, so be on the lookout for it over where you are, especially at that prize place you've recently discovered. I wish there was a place like that over here too. Have you seen "Jian Lin Tian Xia" yet? I'm watching it right now and it's very good!

Hi Mary! I'm doing all right, just busy with school as usual. How about you? I assume that this series will have a happy ending since the end of the synopsis states: "Kind-hearted good people will have happy endings whereas bad people will be ultimately punished by God."

'Kay, I'll drop by Vincent's thread in a sec.

HI Just Mary and Lady Zhu Ge!!
How are you guys doing? I was in the middle of reading and got tired of it. Anyway, I want to see this series too. I have to wait until I have money to get it though. I need some happy endings and comedy series to cheer myself up and relieve stress. I haven't seen Eric, Eddie and other cast in awhile so it would be great to see them in this series.
