The Muttons stole the thunder at Singapore Radio Awards

Take that, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Rib-tickling duo The Muttons from 987, who were the hosts at last night’s Singapore Radio Awards, were also winners in their right.

The pair, comprising Justin Ang and Vernon A, bagged the Best Radio Show award.

If you ask us, the win is no surprise, considering how these two, who have an age gap of 10 years and have been working together for five years, kept the laughter levels in MediaCorp’s TV Theatre high with their cheeky banter and hilarious antics.

Sporting similar iconic blonde locks, the muttons made a very grand wedding entrance spoofing Caldecott’s very own golden couple a la Fann Wong and Christopher Lee. Decked out in a white tux (Vernon) and white bridal gown (Justin), the pair also received the A-listers treatment with hair touch-ups from an impersonator channeling the golden couple’s personal coiffeur aka David Gan…

Mark Chao received death threats from ad vendors

Mark Chao is getting too hot and popular for his own good.

As the new favourite face of advertisers, endorsement deals have been constantly knocking on his door ever since he, a relative newcomer to acting, bagged the Best Actor award at the Taiwanese Golden Bell Awards last year. So far, he has been loaning his star power in ads for coffee, jeans, electronics, and oddly, feminine products.

Following his win, Mark was also offered a lead roles in recently-released gangster flick, Monga, which also stars fellow Taiwanese actor Ethan Ruan.

While it seems like his career, fame and wealth can only go up, things are apparently not as smooth-sailing as they seem for the 26-year-old actor.

Over the last few months, Mark has had intimidating threats and unreasonable demands from various unscrupulous vendors, despite the stated terms on his advertorial contract. Said vendors have even threatened to…

Harlem Yu falls on the ground when pressed for comment about his ex-wife

Harlem Yu’s frequent episodes of blowing his top at the media are not unknown, and the Taiwanese singer-host has collided again, this time quite literally.

He appeared to have lost his composure and tripped over himself last Tuesday when reporters asked about the rumours that his ex-wife Annie Yi is pleading for a reunion

Reports recently surfaced that singer Annie, 41, texted her him to ask for his forgiveness and a chance for reconciliation. She also acknowledged her mistake for letting go “someone who loves me so much.”

Annie has since denied the speculations on her blog saying “I won’t return to my old life.” The couple ended their nine-year marriage after news of her infidelity broke in late 2008. Before the shocking news, they were seen as the model husband-and-wife in Taiwanese entertainment circle.

When reporters confronted him at the studio recording for his show The One…

Intimate photo of Myolie’s rumoured bf Bosco Wong with beauty queen

Hong Kong TVB actor Bosco Wong apparently wooed a Canadian beauty queen behind his rumoured girlfriend, Myolie Wu’s back.

A Hong Kong tabloid reported the scoop after chancing on an intimate photo of the star with Miss Chinese Toronto 2005, Elva Ni, on Facebook.

According to sources, the actor first knew Elva when he visited Canada in late 2008. He then began a fierce pursuit of the beauty queen and claimed that he’s single by denying his rumoured six-year romance with fellow actress Myolie Wu, 30.

Witnesses said that on the first day Bosco, 29, met Elva, he praised her looks. He then asked for her number the following day, and spent the next four days with her.

They also claimed that he apparently told her, “Look for me if you come to Hong Kong. I’ll get you into the [entertainment] industry.”

When a reporter visited Bosco at…

Scandal-plagued Jack Neo’s obvious bid to boost his movie ticket sales

\”I’m regretting my wrongdoing and I’m sorry to have disappointed everyone. I hope everyone will go watch my movie.\”

With his comrade, Mark Lee by his side, Jack Neo sat forlorn in the studio of Love 97.2FM radio station, the first media appearance after his supposedly ‘tell-all’ press conference-turned-dramatised event that set off a media storm and lambast from the public.

What was supposed to be a media and visual delight - when we were first informed of Jack’s LIVE radio interview that was to be conducted by 56-year-old radio DJ Marcus Chin, who was also embroiled in a height of [last year's] infidelity scandal over his affair with his 24-year-old personal assistant - was quickly dampened, by fate, blessing or pure shithouse luck, at the news of the Marcus\’s sick leave. Oh well.

Fidgeting about during the session, Jack was clearly uneasy with the pack of cameras clicking…

Vicki Zhao breaks her silence after pregnancy photos exposed

After she was rumoured to have married real estate property magnate Huang You Long last year, Chinese actress Vicki Zhao was photographed with a round tummy during a grocery shopping trip in Singapore last week. The tight-lipped 34-year-old finally broke her silence of many months and spoke to a Chinese publication on her birthday last Friday.

Previously, a Hong Kong publication reported that her husband cheated on her with another Chinese actress, Zhang Ziyi

This marks the first time Vicki took the initiative to approach a publication after her exposed pregnant photos. She said, “Actually there is nothing to be shameful about. Everything I have done is to give my family have a peaceful living environment. I originally believed that it is solely my personal life and there is nothing that needs to be said to the public.

“Some things can’t be helped when you are in the…

Jaime Teo: "Dan does funny dances for me!"

“Dan does funny dances for me!” declared a 7-months pregnant Jaime excitedly, between chortles - in response to my question on what keeps the romance alive in their slightly more than two years marriage - much to a rather mortified-look on Daniel’s face, “You have to bring that up eh?” he muttered under his breath. To which, Jaime teasingly retorted: “[But] it’s really funny and makes me laugh!” (Laughs)

It is easy to tell - from my hour long session with this pair of fun-loving couple - that hilarity indeed takes up a big fraction in their lives and one can’t help but get sucked into the merriment of their being as Jaime and Daniel dished out the pearl of wisdom and secrets to keeping the excitement and happiness in their marriage.

Often, when the initial romance and excitement fizzles out gradually in marriage, it’s easy to slip…

Too early for Elvin and DYT: Chen Hanwei

Three-time Best Actor winner Chen Hanwei is still undecided whether he would bring a black rose to the Star Awards ceremony this year, but he is fairly sure about something else: fellow nominees for the Best Actor award, Elvin Ng and Dai Yangtian, “should not win”, because it’s still early days in their careers.

The 41-year-old actor who lost last year’s Asian Television Award’s Best Actor to Adrian Pang after beating him at Star Awards, had reality checks for the two young stars, Elvin and Yangtian.

“Their performance (in megadrama Together) was not bad, but still not really good.”

Asked to explain, the veteran said, “No doubt, they have the ‘look’. But I think it’s too early for them. Yangtian is a power-packed actor. He needs a good role to harness that power and help him control it. For Elvin, he needs to improve his enunciation.”

Let’s hope…

Chris Lee wants to "enjoy the process" with Fann Wong

Note: Stop telling Christopher Lee to relax while trying for a child.

The star of new local movie Kidnapper, who admitted he is yearning for a kid, already knows that he “should relax and stay happy” while trying for a baby because he hears that piece of advice from “at least a few people weekly.”

At the film’s press conference, the exasperated Malaysian-born actor chuckled, “I want to tell them I already know that and I’m trying now!”

He added that he and the missus Fann Wong are not giving each other extra pressure.

“Of course we hope to have kids, but we want to enjoy the process and let nature take its course,” the 39-year-old shared.

Chris said he loves kids and accepted the taxi driver role immediately for the chance to star with the two child actors, Jerald Tan and Regene Lim.

The actor’s fondness for…
