Star Awards 2010: Elvin vs. Yangtian for Best Actor

Elvin Ng should stick to smiling rather than sneering on the telly.
Thanks to his portrayal of the naïve, kindhearted beefcake Tarzan in the blockbuster drama Together, the 29-year-old actor is now nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming Star Awards, joining his Together co-star Dai Yangtian and other veterans Chen Hanwei, Tay Ping Hui and Brandon Wong.
The nomination, his first, is no piddling feat, considering his performance in the show was right after he nearly committed career suicide, by which we mean his widely-panned baddie turn (his virgin attempt at playing a villain) in mega dram and flop The Ultimatum where he mostly growled and sulked throughout.
In an earlier interview prior to Together’s debut in November last year, he said that he hoped his role would win over the viewers. And with his Best Actor nom, it looks like he’s one step closer to redeeming…
