Nicholas Tse used to be famous for his bad boy image, but now he is a loving husband who respects his wife.
During The Stool Pigeon’s press conference, Nicholas told reporters that he had asked his wife, Cecilia Cheung, for approval before going ahead with the kissing scene with actress Kwai Lun-mei.
He revealed that after their marriage, he makes it a point to inform Cecilia if there are any intimate scenes in his movies; if Cecilia does not approve, he will respect her wishes.
Lun-mei, on the other hand, said that she does not see the need to inform her boyfriend since it’s all just work.
“If the feelings are there during the shoot and there is a need to express it, I can make the decision to go ahead with the scene myself.”
The Stool Pigeon, which also stars Nick Cheung, is a sequel to the successful Beast Stalker in 2008.
While in Beast Stalker Nicholas plays the cop and Nick the criminal, the two stars’ roles are reversed in The Stool Pigeon. Lun-mei is the damsel caught up in a love triangle between Nicholas and Nick.
Nick was awarded several best actor awards for his role in Beast Stalker. When asked if Nicholas hopes to achieve the same results, he calmly said that he “never really cares about such things”.
Nicholas was all praises for Lun-mei, though he also took a potshot at her.
“The director was very impressed that she could fire a gun without blinking; but what I think is that she was just too slow to react: she fired off before she could feel scared.”
The Stool Pigeon was originally slated to hold its debut screening in Beijing but was cancelled out of respect to the national day of mourning for civilians killed in mudslides in China’s Gansu province.
