Andy Lau’s wife rumoured to be three months pregnant

49-year-old Andy Lau has always wanted to be a dad.

According to Hong Kong reports, their prayers have been heard after one year and word has it that Andy’s missus, Carol Choo, is now three months pregnant.

An eyewitness caught sight of Mrs Lau more than a month ago at the gynecologist’s in St Paul’s Hospital under the escort of her maid and bodyguards.

Spotted with a fuller figure last month, Carol was also seen in Causeway Bay with a female friend. The ex-beauty queen scurried to her car when she realized she was being followed by the paparazzi.

When questioned about the pregnancy at the movie premiere of Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, Andy did not refute the rumours and smilingly said, “Be good and don’t ask.”

With a movie promotion underway, a new album in the works, and ongoing rehearsals for his New Year’s Eve concert, Andy showed no signs of fatigue on the set of his MV in Taiwan two days ago. Despite his tight work schedule, he appeared coquettish while shaking his booty.

Andy’s family and friends have remained tight-lipped about the pregnancy rumours. His TVB buddies Ken Tong and Michael Miu have both suggested that they are unaware of such news.

Ken Tong said, “I would definitely congratulate him if it’s true.”

There has yet to be any formal response from his Taiwan entourage, as they expressed that this is his personal matter and they will leave it as that.

During their courtship days, the pious Carol even went to the Snake Temple in Malaysia to pray for a child. After the exposure of their marriage back in August last year, Andy publicly announced online that they have been trying to get pregnant via in vitro fertilization.

There were also rumours late last year that Andy bought an apartment for his wife near their Kadoorie Hill home for her to concentrate on getting pregnant without disturbance from the paparazzi.

Paige Chua in a stable romance

Life’s sweet for Paige Chua these days.

With her career on the way up – the actress had just completed a Channel 8 drama in which she has a major lead role – and a seven-year relationship still going strong, things are looking rosy for the 29-year-old.

Speaking to xinmsn at the press conference for MediaCorp’s latest melodramatic thriller The Score recently, Paige revealed that she has been in a relationship with a guy who’s not in showbiz for seven years.

Is marriage and children in the pipeline?

The lanky actress, who expressed that both she and boyfriend are highly individualistic people, dismissed the idea, telling xinmsn that while she has no plans on settling down in the short-term, she was “receptive to having kids”.

“I’ve thought about it. If I don’t have a partner when I’m in my 40s or 50s, I’ll most likely adopt children.”

Paige also added that out of respect for her boyfriend, she will avoid disclosing his identity to the public.

In the upcoming drama, Paige plays an employee turned illegitimate daughter of a business tycoon – a meaty role alongside veteran artiste Xiang Yun and Huang Wenyong.

She later gets entangled in a love triangle with Zhang Yaodong and Adam Chen.

Making her debut in drama Just in Singapore as the haughty and materialistic sister of Fiona Xie more than two years ago, Paige is more often than not, touted as an up-and-coming starlet on Caldecott Hill.

Yet, the confident lass feel no pressure on feeling the gaps of the departed “princesses”.

Compared to a fleeting success, the unassuming actress prefers to stay grounded while talking things one step at a time.

Having just renewed a one-year acting contract with MediaCorp in June this year, Paige said: “I’m not a person who plans my life. A one year period is just right. When that time is up…and if I’ve lost the passion for acting, I’ll leave [showbiz].”

Jerry Yan reveals almost sordid past

If not for his mum, singer Jerry Yan would probably be a gigolo instead of the pop idol he is today.

“Because I’m good at peeling grape skins, I had the potential to be a gigolo,” joked Jerry Yan at the recording of Chinese variety show, Fei Chang Jing Ju Li.

“I nearly went astray when I was young. If not for my mum who brought me back to the right path, there wouldn’t be me today. “

Currently in China for promotions of his latest pictorial book, which reportedly took five years to produce, Jerry talked at lengths about his family.

As a child from a single-parent family, the pop star felt that he never knew how to love somebody, and also added that he shared a “sibling-like” relationship with his divorcee mum.

“In certain aspects, I’m more like an older brother (to my mum),” he quipped.

The star also revealed that he felt like he has failed in all his relationships.

“Even if I wanted to, I don’t know how to express my love sometimes. I only know how to carry all burdens on my shoulder,” he said.

To maintain Jerry’s idol image, his surprising revelation will not be aired on television. However, raw clips of the recording have since gone viral.

Elva Hsiao receives love confession in Taiwan newspapers

A mysterious person with the initials “L.S.” made headlines with his love confession for the Mandopop singer.

‘L.S’ reportedly spent NTD 400,000 (SGD 200,000) on a half-page spread in Taiwan’s Apple and declared his feelings there.

He wrote, “Dear Elva, without you, I’d be a soul without a purpose. Just one smile from you would make my whole world bright. Forgive me for wanting to be with you when I grow old. Now all I ask is one chance, to try to win your heart. – L.S.”

Elva, who was both shocked and pleasantly surprised at the love confession, said, “It’s really romantic. It would be even more (romantic) if I had feelings for him too.”

She had her doubts though, and asked, “Are you sure that it is not published by the management company?”

“You have to be really brave to do something like this. It’s like he wants to bring me home and marry me,” the abashed singer added.

The initials ‘L.S.’ are widely speculated to represent the words “Love Sunny”, which might refer to Elva’s ex-boyfriend whom she endearingly addressed as ‘Sunny Prince’ in Chinese.

Rock band Wang Fu takes a break

After more than a decade in the Taiwanese entertainment industry, four-member band Wang Fu will be taking a break.

Clad in university graduation robes, the members of Wang Fu appeared at a press conference days earlier, officially breaking the news of their temporary departure from the music scene.

“Wang Fu has graduated,” they announced.

“We’re leaving for a new start to something interesting,” said member Xiao Min, despite feeling reluctant to part.

The reason for their impending hiatus has been widely speculated to be one of the band members getting pregnant.

To put a stop to the rumour mill, female members Ma Fei and Tui Ji took to the stage with various antics at the press conference; carrying heavy objects, pounding on their tummies and holding onto scissors – practices deemed taboo for pregnant women.

Although Wang Fu did not give explicit reasons for bidding showbiz goodbye, they expressed that the band was temporarily taking their leave to pursue new music ideologies.

During their absence, Wang Fu hopes that fans will continue to support them.

The band has promised to reveal the truth behind their departure during their upcoming farewell concert in Taiwan on Oct 3.

Isabella Leong’s housing woes

Isabella Leong is moving back to Hong Kong and she is making sure her home is really where she wants to be.

Currently residing in San Franciso with her three young sons, the 22-year-old is bent on transforming her luxurious Hong Kong home into a kid’s nursery world.

According to Hong Kong reports, Richard Li had bought the land at HKD 120 million (SGD 24 million) back in 1994, and construction of the high-end home made of wood was only completed in 2002.

The home boasts a magnificent sea view and a 37,000 square meters outdoor garden. It was also constructed out of premium raw materials only.

However the Lis are reportedly still not satisfied with the house.

A construction foreman, who had been part of the building project, lamented about Isabella: “The client has such high expectations. For example, the redwood used for the house was already top grade, but she found the patterns on the wood to be ugly and repeatedly requested for changes to be made even after completion.”

He added that Isabella had also insisted on a weekly change of water in the swimming pools and fortnightly pest-extermination.

“In actual fact, nobody was even using the swimming pool, and there was also not a single soul for mosquitoes to attack.”

Isabella’s hubby Richard Li, son of billionaire Li Ka-shing, remained nonchalant about the star’s demanding ways.

Jolin Tsai’s badminton date with new boyfriend

Is Mandopop princess Jolin Tsai ready to go public with her latest squeeze?

Unlike her previous romances, Jolin is seen openly with rumoured new lover, New Zealand model Vivian Dawson.

According to a close-friend of the starlet, “Jolin plans to give it her all in this romance. She’s not afraid of anything.”

The voluptuous Mandopop starlet has also reportedly hinted at her newfound relationship recently, telling reporters to “give me more space”, when questioned about the romance.

Having only touched down in Taipei after ending her promotional trip in China last Sunday, Jolin was immediately seen with Vivian – playing badminton on the same night.

The pop princess is apparently good at playing badminton – another sport she enjoys besides bowling – and often spent time playing the game during outings with close friends.

Ever since news of her alleged new romance surfaced weeks ago, the pair’s relationship has been the talk of the town.

Despite being under intense media scrutiny, 30-year-old Jolin and 26-year-old Vivian continue to meet up frequently.

“Do you love her?” probed reporters.

Upon hearing the question, a visibly nervous Vivian laughed while answering in English yet again: “She is very nice!” and proceeded to escape into his office.

Sexy mama Christy Chung coy about love life

Age is but a number – if you look half as gorgeous as Canadian-Chinese actress Christy Chung.

The mother of three turns 40 this month, and she looks just as good as she\’s aged.

\”Age doesn\’t matter, you know, like a bottle of wine or cheese,\” said Christy.

\”I\’m old enough to know and young enough to try!\” she added and broke into a hearty laugh at her own proclamation.

Christy who has been Marie France Bodyline\’s celebrity spokesperson for 12 years now, was in town for the brand\’s new product launch event yesterday.

All smiles and looking dazzling as she made her entrance, the glamourous superstar showed off her shapely silhouette in a sequin mini dress and impossibly high heels.

The actress is currently based in Beijing with her music producer husband Jon Yen, their two daughters Jayden, 2, Cayla, seven months as well as Yasmine, 12, from her previous marriage.

Sensing the media\’s prying eyes as she speaks fondly of her three daughters, Christy who gave birth to her third daughter Cayla in February was quick to assure reporters \”this is officially my last baby, the factory is closed!\”, much to everyone\’s amusement.

With three young kids, ongoing beauty endorsement deals, a girl-band group named \”Goddess\” which she founded five years ago and now a comeback movie career, as she is set to return to the big screen come November in a Hong Kong production – Bruce Lee, My Brother – where she plays Bruce Lee\’s mother in the biopic, after a six-year hiatus from acting, Christy has got her hands full managing it all.

So, how would she rate her priorities as a wife, mother and actress?

\”Motherhood definitely comes first because my kids are so young right now.\”

\”But between wife and an artiste…oh, this is the most difficult question today!\” She exclaimed with a nervous laugh.

\”I think that when you have kids, it\’s very precious and important that you maintain your relationship with your husband. But sometimes because of my maternal instinct I tend to forget the needs of my husband because we are both very busy. We try to make an effort and to go on dates…\”

What do they do to keep the marriage fires burning?

\”This year would be our 10th year together and I truly believe it takes a lot of effort to keep the sparks because the past three years I\’ve been pregnant, and then pregnant again so it\’s very tiring. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I have a bigger baby to take care of.\” (Laughs)

\”Let\’s just say we need a vacation soon, just the two of us!\”

To be honest, this reporter was hoping for some exciting ins and outs of the actress\’s marriage life. But sadly, Christy is adamantly consistent but politely tactful in keeping her personal life, personal.

Still smiling but sounding somewhat toned-down, the typically bubbly actress added: \”I\’ve to say that I\’m not a person who rates priority. I\’m a person who multi-task so every day everybody is a priority.\”

Once voted the \”Sexiest Woman in Asia\” by FHM Magazine, Christy exudes that touch of distinctive sexiness and beauty that rivals even Shu Qi\’s physical qualities.

So, how does Christy\’s husband feel about her missus \”sexy mama\” status?

\”I think you have to ask him, I don\’t know! I think at this stage and age, we don\’t really need to talk about this anymore.\”
