Wu Chun honoured by Lee Byung-hun’s gesture

The muscles of Taiwan meet the muscles of Korea. And they seemed to have rubbed off each other the right way.

Wu Chun and Lee Byung-hun were at the 2010 Asia Model Awards last Friday. Both won for their respective countries. Wu was also taken aback and pleasantly surprised when the Korean superstar proposed that they work together in the future.

It was the two’s first meeting, but due to a common passion for hitting the gym, the musclemen continued chatting after leaving the stage.

Wu said that when it comes to acting and experience, he has a lot to learn from his counterpart, but when the topic came to their physique, the member of Taiwanese boyband Farenheit assumed more confidence.

“His figure is quite good, but we’re different. He’s toned, while I’m bulky.”

Rain’s Ninja Assassin trailer…and then in LEGO

Korean star Rain (Bi) trained hard for his first starring role in a Hollywood film, Ninja Assassin. The trailer shows some very difficult stunts and action scenes so it looks like Rain put in a lot of effort, especially that upside-down push-up.

Watching it again in LEGO version makes me want to watch it though :)

Korean remake of Meteor Garden

F4

“Meteor Garden” was the 2001 Taiwanese TV adaptation of the Japanese manga/anime “Hana Yori Dango” that shot boy band F4 (Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, Ken Zhu) into stardom. It was so popular that it spawned a sequel which deviated much from the original source - and also pretty much a flop. Japan then made its own hit version using the proper title “Hana Yori Dango” in 2005 that starred Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao who played Domyouji Tsukasa and Makino Tsukushi respectively with great success. South Korea is now also planning to remake this into an 24-episode drama set for release some time next year. Casting is not yet confirmed.

My Sassy Girl Remake

My Sassy Girl 2008

We found out recently that Hollywood remade the Korean movie “My Sassy Girl” (2001), the hit based off novellas posted on the Internet about one guy’s funny, romantic, and sad relationship with a girl he saves from a train. The US version stars Jesse Bradford and Elisha Cuthbert (the ’sassy’ girl). There’s no official release date yet for this movie but imdb.com’s production notes says it’s “Completed”. Let’s hope it translates better than “Il Mare” (2000) (”The Lake House” (2006) starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock) for the Western screens.
