"You don’t just change": Adam Lambert on gay/straight sexuality

Like a music diva, Adam Lambert arrived for his photo call only an hour after the stated time. There was no mad, uncivilized scrambling or inane, noisy chatter as the photographers present all kept still, waiting in silence like it was only appropriate as a show of respect and reverence to anticipate his entrance into the Ritz Carlton Hotel for a press meet.

And of course, what would a diva be without costume changes. The door opened slowly and in walked the man himself, back straight and shoulders pulled back, dressed in a graphic print tee, black jacket and skinny jeans. “Outfit number two” was a simple black tee and a dusky gray blazer.

But unlike your typical diva, Adam, or Glambert as he’s affectionately referred to by fans, is friendly, not aloof, confident yet not arrogant, earnest instead of pretentious, and ultimately, just really likeable. (You should…

Dee Hsu refutes reports of domestic violence

It was earlier reported in the Apple Daily publication that Taiwanese host, Dee Hsu (also known as Xiao S), experienced a case of family violence after she recorded an episode of her highly-watched variety programme, Here Comes Kang Xi. The 31-year-old actress reportedly reached home late at night and was engaged in an argument with her husband, Mike Hsu.

Mike was said to have inflicted a couple of blows on Dee during the argument. The article in Apple Daily also stated that the Taipei City Center for Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault made an evaluation after they received a phone call from “Dee” and thought it was best for her to report the case to the police.

At a press conference held in front of the Taipei City Police Station, appearing hand-in-hand with her husband, Dee retorted against these allegations and exclaimed, “Is everyone sick of…

A pregnant Vicki Zhao spotted in Singapore

It was the award-winning actress’s 34th birthday a few days ago when a certain Hong Kong publication spun tales of Vicki Zhao’s property magnate husband, Huang You Long, cheating on her with fellow Chinese actress, Zhang Ziyi.

Vicki personally phoned said publication’s editor and expressed her hopes for them to “spare people who do not belong to showbiz.” It is unknown if Vicki is referring to herself or her husband.

In her final trimester, the actress made headlines when she was recently spotted walking around with a protruding tummy while going about her errands. To avoid the media glare and paparazzi in her hometown, she is currently awaiting delivery in Singapore, and is expecting a baby boy.

Vicki’s manager, Chen Rong, spoke up on her behalf in a couple of text messages, “She’s doing great, thanks for the concern. As usual, she has no habit of turning her personal…

Show Luo and Rainie Yang aren’t together: Alien Huang

No, multi-talented Taiwanese artiste Show Luo and adorable singer Rainie Yang were never together and are not attracted to each other, says Alien Huang, host of variety programme 100% Entertainment,

Alien’s words do carry some weight. After all, he counts Show as his longtime mentor and Rainie is his ex-girlfriend, no less.

Alien arrived in Singapore last Friday to promote his first solo album, the rock-infused Love Hero, which was released at the end of last year. Known as the slapstick, loveable other half of Show on the daily entertainment variety programme, he was formerly a member of now-defunct boy-group Cosmo.

After his Cosmo album in 2003, the singer-host has finally returned to his first love of making music over hosting and acting. Alien’s latest album features a collaboration of heavyweights, including rock legend Wu Bai, hip-hop maestro Chang Chen-yue and Mayday’s Ashin and Monster, many of whom…

Mark Lee on Jack’s look of haggardness: "It’s his retribution."

Standing by the corner throughout Jack Neo’s press conference this morning was local actor-comedian and good friend to the embattled film-maker, Mark Lee. Despite being furious with Jack as reported in earlier news, Mark was there to lend his moral support to his mentor.

At the start, Mark was seen standing by the corner as he watched Jack and his wife, Irene spoke to the media but when Irene collapsed towards the end the session, Mark was one of the first to rush forward to support her.

Our reporter caught up with the actor-comedian this afternoon to check in on Irene’s present state. According to Mark, he is not clear about the current situation as the couple left immediately in their pastor’s car after the press conference but he added that “[Irene] should be fine after a rest.”

When asked about the apparent look of haggardness on Jack,…

Annie Yi wants to reunite with ex-hubby Harlem Yu

Annie Yi wants to patch things up with her ex-husband Harlem Yu. The 41-year-old reportedly sent her ex-husband a text message recently to ask for his forgiveness, and a chance to get back together.

In her text message, Annie explained that she no longer revels in the night life, travels only with female friends, and does not have any male friends at all. She also acknowledged her mistake for missing out on “someone who loves me so much”.

In late 2008, Annie was spotted holding hands with another actor, Victor Huang. When news of her infidelity broke out, her career took a sudden nosedive and culminated in the end of her marriage to Harlem, 48.

Younger girls are better, says Terence Cao

The Chinese have a saying: “Old cow eats young grass” (a colloquial way of saying an older man hooking up with a younger female), and it couldn’t be more strikingly true, right here at home, in the recent weeks.

It’s already a common sight in Hollywood, where aging testosterone such as Bruce Willis, Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner and the newly-engaged Simon Cowell still have what it takes to attract younger ladies.

And in Asia, 21-year-old Hong Kong singer Isabella Leong popped a baby boy for billionaire Richard Li, 43, last year.

Our own backyard hasn’t been idle, either. After making the headlines in June 2009 for leaving and subsequently divorcing his wife to be with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Marcus Chin, 57 is about to be a father now that she is pregnant.

Most recently, disgraced movie director Jack Neo, 50, was exposed to be linked to a string…

Takeshi Kaneshiro rumoured to be trying for baby in Japan

We’re guessing Takeshi Kaneshiro isn’t a big fan of blogs these days.

Widely speculated for hiding his marriage - la a certain Andy Lau - after a blog claimed that the Asian superstar secretly got hitched, another blogger has quoted reliable sources saying Takeshi, who is currently based in Japan, is trying for a baby.

A celebrity blogger exposed the actor for marrying a Japanese woman last December, a piece of news which was denied by his management. On Tuesday, another blogger alleged that the Japanese-Taiwanese actor and his wife are currently located in Japan as part of their plans to have kids.

The blogger, who is staying anonymous, quoted an insider as his news source. He added that the source is a big-time movie producer and there is “no need to be suspicious” of his words.

The blog entry read, “A Taiwanese friend visited and we had…

Jack Neo breaks silence and drama unfolds at press conference

“I’m not an artiste so I don’t know how to face the media. [Because] I love Jack, I love my marriage, I love my family, I’ve been hurt deeply so please leave me alone.”

“I really need [all] your blessings,” a weeping Mdm Irene Kng pleaded before she stood up to leave and suddenly fell in a faint on her way to the exit.

The sudden collapse of Mdm Kng triggered the cohort of media to rush forward for pictures of the scene. The commotion turned into dramatic mayhem when Jack let out a loud yell for the media to make way for her exit. Almost like a scene out of Jack’s movie, Ah Nan (John Cheng), an artiste from the “Liang Jian Ban” (J-Team) dashed forward and shouted to the media to “go away”.

This morning at a packed auditorium at Scorpio East Building, Jack Neo, Singapore’s…
