Chinese Paladin 3

This drama was set 50 years before the Chinese Paladin 1 and was based off the third game of the Chinese Paladin versions. I find this drama as an acceptable and wonderful prequel. The writers of this drama decided to adapt a loosely adaption from the game to stray away from the plot by adding in side stories and to create/develop the characters that suited they story for the drama as a prequel. I think the writer did an acceptable job with this. I also like they fact that CP3 is not a copy of CP1 or relates to it that may confuse viewers who have never watched CP1. I love the fact that the drama created strong characters as well as how the fantasy, wuxia, history, CG, artifacts was more explored than CP1. I also love the romances within the series as it was much more touching and explored than that of CP1. The flaws i would point out is the constant bickering between Jian Tian and Xue Jian while adorable in the beginning became a bit lasted too long. The next flaw is that the main couple Jian Tian and Xue Jian was overshadowed by Xu Chang Qing (Wallace Huo) and Zi Xuan (Tang Yan) as the romance with these two was much stronger causing the viewers to root for this couple more so than the leads (not complaining but it is true). Another flaw was the plot as though it created strong side stories, romances, demonstrated the perfect amount of fantasy, history and wuxia the main plot was too fast forward with the villain at the end or did not show as much resolve to satisfy viewers. The final flaw would be that this drama ended with a bittersweet ending with the sadness of lovable side characters deaths Zi Xuan and Chang Qian’s separation and how Jian Tian sacrificed himself to resurrect his friends. Overall in terms of fantasy-wuxia, side stories and romances I really quite enjoyed this drama and I think is quite a great prequel.
