"Sad Love Song" is a story about two men fighting for the love of one woman. Joon-young was raised by his mother who sold liquor to American soldiers. He meets Hae-in, a blind girl. They became friends, and soon after it was more than friendship that they feel for each other. They were childhood sweethearts, until Hae-in’s aunt decided to immigrate to the U.S. with her aunt’s American boyfriend. She gives Joon-young her necklace to remind him of her. And so the two lovers were separated. While Hae-in was away, Hwa-jung, who has always been in love with Joon-young, tries to capture his attention. Meanwhile, Joon-young. Soon after, they became the best of friends. Time passed and Gun-woo decides to study in the U.S. Joon-young lost the necklace Hae-in gave her. Hwa-jung found it. But instead of giving it back to him, she wrote a fake letter and together with the necklace, sent it to Hae-in saying that Joon-young died. Hae-in was then really sad. But she meets Gun-woo who made her happy once again. Gun-woo soon falls for her. He even gave Hae-in an operation so she can see again. Hae-in accepts Gun-woo’s love for her.

They both go back to Korea. Gun-woo introduces Hae-in to Joon-young. Joon-young of course recognizes her but Hae-in can’t recognize him. But Joon-young didn’t tell Hae-in his true identity because he doesn’t want to hurt the feelings of Gun-woo. But soon after, Joon-young was hired by Gun-woo to be the composer for Hae-in. Joon-young is the composer, Hae-in is the singer, and Gun-woo is the music producer. Soon after Hae-in discovers Joon-young’s real identity when she found him at their childhood house. Gun-woo soon discovers the truth and takes Hae-in away from Joon-young. But soon Gun-woo realizes how much Hae-in loves his best friend and Joon-young’s sacrifice for him. Gun-woo lets them go. On the night of Hae-in’s concert, Gun-woo’s brother-in-law hires someone to kill Gun-woo because of some reasons. But instead of Gun-woo, Joon-young was shot while trying to save his life. Gun-woo rushes him to the hospital but the doctor said that there’s no more hope for Joon-young. Joon-young wants to go back to Hae-in’s concert because he promised that he would be there while Hae-in is singing in front of the audience. They went back to the concert. Gun-woo carries him. Hae-in doesn’t know that Joon-young is dying. Joon-young watches her sing and slowly closes his eyes. The story ends with Hae-in at their childhood house together with their son.

Kwon Sang Woo as Suh Joon-young
He acted his part so well. But I think he was more handsome in "Stairway to Heaven" than in this one. Every time I watch him cry, I can’t stop my tears from falling down. He really touches my heart when he cries.

Kim Hee Sun as Park Hae-in
She performed her part well too. Playing blind is a hard thing to do. But sometimes, her facial expressions don’t match the scene. She doesn’t even have chemistry with Sang Woo.

Yeon Jung Hoon as Lee Gun-woo
He did his part well too. He is really suitable for the role. His facial expressions are nice too. I really like this actor. It was nice that they chose him to replace Song Seung Hun.

Top 3 Favorite Scenes:
1. When Joon-young proposed to Hae-in.
2. When Gun-woo was carrying Joon-young while remembering all their happy memories together.
3. When Joon-young watched Hae-in at her concert before he finally died.

I loved this drama. The story is so simple but very meaningful. The first time I saw the title, I knew it was going to be a sad ending. After watching this drama, I had realized that “the bond of friendship is stronger than love”.

This drama was supposed to have Song Seung Hun as Lee Gun-woo. However, a draft-dodging scandal involving Song Seung Hun broke out, causing him to enlist in the military service. On short notice, Yeon Jung Hoon was selected to replace him.

Kwon Sang Woo and Song Seung Hun are best friends in real life.
