Kill Bill Vol.1

After hearing all the hype about this movie, I decided to go check it out for myself. The results were totally unexpected! Instead of liking it, I ended up despising it a lot. Even my cousins agreed with me on this review.

The story is plotless and makes no logic sense. The Bride (Uma Thurman) is attacked by Bill and goes in a coma for 4 years. The she wakes up and finds that her baby is dead. She goes to Japan to get revenge. In the first half of the film, I had no idea what the movie was about.

First off, what kind of a plot is this for an action movie?! It tries to be cool and Japanese, but ends up being ridiculous and shaming Japan. Also, why is there a background story for O Ren Ishii but not The Bride? The Bride is the main character so we need to know more info on her. The backgound story is an Anime sequence, which I thought didn't make sense. This is supposed to be a live action movie, right?

There are some things in this movie that were ripped off from other films. The masks that the Japanese gang wear are the same as the one in Jet Li's Black Mask. The yellow suit that The Bride wears reminds me of Bruce Lee's Game of Death. Couldn't Quentin Tarantino come up with a more creative idea than ripping ideas like in Reservoir Dogs? The one thing I couldn't stand was that there was a Shaw Bros. opening at the beginning of the film. Are they trying to make HK look bad?

Sonny Chiba and Gordon Liu makes guest appearances but even they can't save this from being a mess. It's kind of bad actually since they are legends of martial arts movies. The fight scenes are nothing special. All they do is chop off heads and there is no real action. I wasn't sickened but bored and tired.

To this day, I've got to say that this is the WORST movie I have ever seen. The Last Samurai was so much better and I recommend that over this. Definitely not for people who have just eaten a big meal.
