Geunomeon Meoshiteotda (aka He was Cool)

Cast:
Song Seung Heon as Ji Eun Song
Jung Da Bin as Han Ye-Won
Lee Ki-Woo as Kim Han Sung
Kim Ji-Hye as Kim Hyo Bin

Summary:

The film is based on a novel written by Gulyeoni. The story is about a cheerful high school student named Han Ye Won. She is a sweet, clumsy and warm girl. On the other side there is Ji Eun Song, a student from vocational school and well-known as a bully. He is hot- tempered and rude but deep inside he is longing to be loved.

One day, clumsily, Ye-Won leaves a message on the school website to reply to Ji Eun Song's impolite message. She is shocked when someone calls her mobile and threatens her. Gradually, her best friend, Lee Kyung Won, tells her who Ji Eun Song is. Ji Eun Song sends Han Ye-Won a message on her mobile: he will wait for her in front of the main gate. She is so scared that she and Lee Kyung Won decide to jump over the school wall. Unfortunately, the moment Ye-Won jumps, Ji Eun Song is standing exactly at the other side of wall. She falls on him and accidentally their lips meet. Raising his voice, Eun Song asks for her responsibility; she is astonished. His friend explains that Eun Song has never even held hands with a girl. Since she is the first girl who kisses him, as a consequence she must marry him.

The story continues very fast, at the beginning Ye-won doesn’t have any feelings for Eun Song, she even rejects his invitation to come to his birthday party. Unknowingly, Eun Song has fallen in love with her; but he is not the kind of guy who knows how to express his inner feelings. He is jealous when Ye-Won is approached by other guys but he doesn’t know how to be with someone he loves.

Although he is rude and bad-tempered, Eun Song always pardons Ye-Won’s faults and clumsiness. One thing he couldn't bear was when he found out that Ye-Won went out with Kim Han Sung, his senior and the one he hates a lot. The broken-hearted Ji-Eun Song decides to leave Korea following his mother to the USA. Will Ye-Won reunite with Eun Song or accept Han Sung's love? I will leave the answer for you.

Favourite Scenes:

1. When Ye-Won jumps the wall and falls onto Ji-Eun Song; It is funny but also romantic. I laugh watching Song Seung Heon widen his eyes. His eyes are almost thrown out of his face by shock.
2. Eun Song calls Ye-won about whether she could come to his birthday party or not. When Ye-Won refused his invitation he looks so sad. Song Seung Heon expression speaks more than words. Someone, who always looks so strong and cool, finally after bumping into the word “love”, he looks more helpless than other people do. As a matter of fact, despite his bad temper, Eun Song is a good lover. He even works in a construction site only to buy a ring for Ye-Won’s birthday.

3. To protect Ye-Won, Eun Song is involved in a fight, he is beaten hard and his friends take him to the hospital. Even Ye-Won disappointed him, but still he calls her to meet him at school. Eun Song waits for her at the main gate but Ye-Won waits for him at the back gate. The two wait for each other all night, and in the morning, Ye-Won best friend, Kyung Won, tells her that Eun Song waited for her at the main gate all night. She rushes to the hospital and asks Eun Song in tears whether he really waited for her. Feeling miserable, Eun Song turns his back, all his friends asked her to leave him. But unpredictably, Ye-Won runs towards Eun Song: She kisses and hugs him in tears. Ooh, that’s so sweet…

Comments:

One of the reasons why I like watching Korean films is because of the good acting. All the cast play seriously and make the film worth watching.. If you are fans of Song Seung Heon ; this film is a must- see. He is really cool and young; just like a real high school student. His appearance is different from his other films such as "Calla", "Endless Love", "Popcorn", or "Ice Rain". He has long hair and appears thin and most of all he doesn’t have a dashing smile that usually appears on his lips. He plays a student with lots of problems, and he keeps to himself. I like him a lot in this film, he acts well and he is really gorgeous.

The other cast that I love is Song Seung Hoen’s co-star: Jung Da Bin. I like her innocent smile and her cry. She has plain looks but she is brave and determined. In short, she is just perfect to play the character of Han Ye-Won. I enjoy watching her and Eun Song together, it’s funny but yet it’s so sweet. Although the couple never has any lines of “love”, Song Seung Hoen and Jung Da Bin have good chemistry. Their eyes and gestures speak louder than words.

I can say that the film is a drama-comedy and action film. Prepare to laugh and cry when you watch it. Even the twist is simple but the film is worth watching. I suggest you watch this film especially if you are fans of Song Seung Heon. Believe me, he is really cool in this film, just like the title.
