Synopsis - WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS!

A long time ago, when Sze Sai Lun (Bobby Au-Yeung) was eight years old, his mother brought him to his grandmother's house to stay for a few days. However, Sai Lun suddenly disappeared for three days, and when he came back home, he lost his memory and his right arm was disabled. Sai Lun's mother took all the blame and regretted it for years. To feel less regretful, she decided to train Sai Lun to not use his brains to do anything and helped him make all his important decisions. Sai Lun was born an intelligent boy, but because of his mother's actions, he became less intelligent.

Many years later, Sai Lun is now a grown man and becomes a judge. He has three wives; Chin Lai Shu (Annie Man), Pong Kot Oi (Lui San), and Ga Sau Yuk (Eileen Yeow). His first case at the new valley (where he now lives) was about stealing food. Mai Heung Yung (Kenix Kwok) and her friend Wong Tin Ba (Benny Chan) believe Sai Lun to be a horrible judge. They think he is a fool and a pathetic excuse for a figure of authority. Sai Lun finds a magical pillow when he went to the grave of a dead person who was involved with that case. Inside that magical pillow, there was a "Pillow God" (Lo Hoi Pang). This Pillow God gives Sai Lun many weird clues to help him solve his cases. This is because Pillow God wants Sai Lun to start using his head, then he could help him solve a case of his own....

Sai Lun finds out that the Pillow God is actually Tong Do Fook, in other words, Heung Yung's deceased grandfather. They find out that Heung Yung belonged to a wealthy family, but her family was slaughtered. Also, Wong Tin Ba is actually her little brother! Turns out that Heung Yung's family was slaughtered by someone they knew....

Tsang Gak Ming Chu (Tavia Yeung) is a princess, and also the god-sister of Sai Lun. She is very cheerful and playful, and falls in love with Tin Ba. Also, Sai Lun falls in love with Heung Yung, and they get married, making Heung Yung his fourth wife. However, their happy world gets turned upside down when Heung Yung believes that Sai Lun's father was actually the one who killed her family! But as they continue to investigate, they find out that there is more to this than it seems. Mai Heung Yung and Wong Tin Ba find out that the person who murdered their whole entire family...

...was Ming Chu's father.

Ming Chu's father and Heung Yung's father had switched places because they didn't want to go wherever they were going. Ming Chu's father was actually supposed to marry Heung Yung's mother. And Heung Yung's father was supposed to go ahead and become "Wong Yeh" (not exactly emperor, but the emperor's uncle or something). They had switched identities because both families had not seen these two men. However, Ming Chu's father was afraid that Heung Yung's father would let their secret out, and sent people to kill the entire family. Heung Yung also finds out that the boy who had saved her life that day was actually Sai Lun!

Tin Ba is very angry, and vows to get revenge. But Ming Chu is desperate and begs him to reconsider. She tells him that she cannot afford to see her father slain by her lover, and that she would go insane if it were to happen. But Tin Ba cannot just let this go, and goes off. Will Princess Ming Chu betray her own father? And will everything be normal for these four ever again?

Review

Bobby Au-Yeung...he was great in the series, especially after seeing the ruby jewel and acting all crazy. I couldn't stop laughing! His acting as always been great. And I watched this before I watched The Bitter Bitten so this series was the first time that I had seen Benny Chan in a very long time! Benny is really cute and funny in the series, willing to do anything to protect his family and lover. But the one thing that I didn't like about him was that he's too rash. Like when he was tricked into believing that Bobby was the one who killed his family, he wanted revenge right away and it only resulted in Tavia getting hurt.

Tavia's character was cute and smart. She was indeed a mystery solver. I love how she was pretending to be a hobo and yet Bobby couldn't recognize her. She was always so active and jumpy in the series. Did I mention how good she is at crying? I think she's one of the few actresses who can actually cry. Plus, Lo Hoi Pang was good too! I like the parts where he hits Bobby's head when Bobby misunderstands the clues. He's just so awesome!

I didn't like Wong Yeh/Tsang Gak Jing Hung at all, obviously. He is so evil, killing innocent people just to cover his own butt. And Kenix's father in the series was so stupid! Why would you give up your identity to a stranger?! I mean, I would sort of understand if you knew the guy...but you didn't! And that makes you stupid!

This is random, but I liked Kenix's hair before she got married...very cute and unique, haha. My favourite couple in this series would be Tavia and Benny. They are a fresh couple and cute too. Both of them were playful and active in this series, making this couple so cute. My favourite scene was near the end when Benny finds out that Tavia lost the ability to use her legs and she was desperately trying to get back in her wheelchair. Benny saw and he started crying, it was so sad. And then he ran over and picked her up in his arms and said that he was going to take care of her. It was so touching!

I rate A Pillow Case of Mystery a 4.5 out of 5. It didn't receive the maximum rating because I just hated the identity switch thing. Also, towards the end, it got a bit draggy and lots of unnecessary scenes were added.

This is definitely worth watching if you're a fan of Tavia, Benny or Bobby. I thought it was another breakthrough for Tavia because I have a feeling she had lots of airtime and she was fairly important in the ending, unlike other series that starred her. This series is light- hearted, so don't hope and pray for a series that fights a lot when you're watching it...because it's comedy! I also saw in the news that this series might be having a sequel. I'm looking forward to that, it's going to be great!
