Brief Introduction:
Ho Kei Gin is infamous for the terrible deeds he has done in Kei Street and everyone is afraid of him. Gin loathes the complete opposite of him: Wong Fei Hung. Gin has a depressing childhood secret which has led to his troublesome personality.

Ling Yuk Chui is a woman born with buckteeth and has low self esteem. She cares very much for her family. Chui is a rather naive person who is easily tricked by others. She is looking for a marriage partner but is not successful yet.

Wong Fei Hung is looked upon as a hero in Kei Street. He constantly helps ill people at Bo Zhi Lum and also teaches students Kung Fu. Wong Fei Hung has a strong belief that there is good in everyone and is also a very serious person. He seldom jokes and likes to tell long and boring stories.

Ling Yuk Bik is the sister of Ling Yuk Chui. She has a mental illness due to a horrible incident that happened in the past.

Comments:
Storyline
I enjoyed the storyline of 'Men Don't Cry' because it was very different to other series. However, the storyline was sometimes boring especially towards the end when Gin became a 'good person', I found the series less interesting. I also didn't like the ending of the series, which was what I thought ruined the series. I thought that it was unfair that Gin did not have a chance for an explanation and Wong Fei Hung took credit for his good deeds.

Dayo Wong Zi Wa as Ho Kei Gin/Gan Yan Gin
I think that Dayo was really funny in this series but I found his character in 'To Catch the Uncatchable' to be funnier. Sometimes I did dislike the character Gin because he was harsh when he tricked Ling Yuk Chui in the beginning and humiliated her in front of everyone in Kei Street. I think that Dayo was great as Gin because he acted really well throughout the whole series. Without Dayo Wong, this series would definitely be much less humorous.

Cecila Yip Tong as Ling Yuk Chui/ Sau Ya Po
I think that Cecilia was okay as Ling Yuk Chui. Her acting wasn't incredibly good but she was good enough to act the part of Chui. In my opinion her character didn't have much a lot of depth, or maybe it was because the character was overshadowed by more stronger personalities. I liked her most in the emotional scenes.

Dominic Wong as Wong Fei Hong
I think that Dominic was great as the boring, but righteous, Wong Fei Hung. He was pretty funny at times, such as when he seems quite naive to think that Gin would simply become a good person through his methods. The way Dominic spoke and put his hands behind his back when he walked was very much like his character Wong Fei Hung. I liked how he didn't have to try hard to be funny.

Benz Hui Siu Hung as Ah Chut So
I liked Benz Hui because he was hilarious in this series. I felt really sorry for him when Gin treated him badly towards the end of the series. I think that the 'father-son' relationship between So and Gin was interesting. My favourite scene with Benz Hui was when So hung himself and then pretended to be dead. I think Benz Hui is a really good actor.

Jazz Lam as Gum Chin Pao
I think Jazz Lam did well as Gum Chin Pao. His voice was a bit annoying at first but then afterwards I became used to it. I liked how Pao was very faithful to Gin from the beginning to the middle of the series. I did sympathise with him when he turned against Gin though because I felt that it wasn't his fault. He was always taught to be a bad person so he couldn't accept the person who always idolised to suddenly change.

Viven Yeo - Ling Yuk Bik
I really liked Vivien Yeo as Ling Yuk Bik. Both her acting and Cantonese has improved. I think that Vivien Yeo made Ling Yuk Bik really cute and funny. I liked the scene where she would just stare at Gin in a kind of scary and funny way. I actually liked the pairing of Vivien Yeo and Dayo Wong more than Cecilia Yip and Dayo Wong because I thought they were a more cute and sweet couple. I liked how Bik always believed that Gin was a good person.

Other Characters
I think Charmaine Li was okay as Jenny but nothing special. I didn't like how her character was used to differentiate Western personalities because I thought it was really obvious that her character was used for that purpose. The actor acting as Chan Chut also did his character well. Although I thought his character was too aggressive, he had his funny moments.

Conclusion:
I really liked this series 'Men Don't Cry' because I think it is hilarious and I enjoyed how different Dayo Wong's character was. I think that overall it was a great series despite the unfulfilling ending.
