The Hitman Chronicles

This series attempts to portray the heroic deeds of seven hitmen in ancient China. There are seven stories in this series:

* Sword from the Fish intestine
* Assassination of Ma
* Kang Oi
* Lui Sze Leung
* Assassinate on On Luk San
* Yau Yeung pierced the overcoat
* Lip Yan Leung

The series is very refreshing and engaging. It is certainly successful in its attempt to re-enact the assassination scenes. All of these scenes were very poignant. I especially like the stories of "Sword from the fish intestine" and "Yau Yeung pierced the overcoat"--the assassination scenes were so moving. In "Sword from the fish intestine", the heavy breathing of the hit man when he died has a really powerful effect, it shows us the tragic ending of a hero.

Most of the stories are tales of ancient china, but I doubt that the stories with Louis Koo and Noel Leung were real historicals. All the actors did a splendid job. However, I personally did not like Louis's character in here and especially, his female co-star. It seemed like she was smiling every time she tries to cry or it could be the other way around. I could not tell from her facial expression. This story was really ridiculous.

Overall, it is a good series among TVB's rare ancient series lately.
