I just finished watching "The New Adventures of Chor Lau Heung" after not watching for several years. I enjoyed it so much that I watched it twice.

I think this series has a great storyline and it's not too long and it's not too short, so it's just right. I've always loved this series and had been looking to rent it. I made a copy for myself as soon as I got a hold of it. Too bad it's on VHS, so the picture quality is going.

The story starts out with the charming, handsome and charismatic Chor Lau Heung (Miu Kiu Wai) going to his best friend's birthday party with his 3 sisters. While eating at a restaurant, he meets this mysterious girl with a one-of-a-kind sword. He teases her and at first they always argue and bicker, but later they start to develop feelings for each other. She (Song Siu Jing) turns out to be the only girl that he loves out of all the 5 girls. The last one being a Wah San disciple named Wah Chun Chun, who loves Chor Lau Heung, but he only sees her as a friend.

The story goes on to tell of how Chor Lau Heung and his friends travel around looking for clues to solve a mystery that is threatening to take over the world. The story and adventure was great, but what I enjoyed most was watching how Chor Lau Heung and Siu Jing fall in love.

The thing I loved the most about the movie was the bitter yet sweet love story between Chor Lau Heung and Song Siu Jing. Their screen time together was what I enjoyed most about the series.

Some scenes I enjoyed the most:

1. When Chor Lau Heung and his 3 sisters are about to return Siu Jing to her bodyguard. The 3 sisters bring water for Chor Lau Heung to drink, but none for Siu Jing, so Chor Lau Heung gives his drink to her. One of the 3 sisters is jealous so she starts being sarcastic towards Siu Jing and she runs off. Chor Lau Heung chases after her and tells her that it's not a good idea to fall in love with him because he's not a reliable man. Their interaction here was so sad, but still there was hope for a relationship.

The BEST scene was the last scene where Chor Lau Heung has Siu Jing's hairpiece and he's thinking about her when suddenly he hears what sounds to be like Siu Jing calling him, so he runs out only to see his 3 sisters. He walks back towards the room with a disappointed expression, but sees Wah Chun Chun, so he invites her in for tea. She doesn't go in, but is full of smiles. As Chor Lau Heung is pouring out the tea, Siu Jing suddenly steps out from behind the curtains. Chor Lau Heung is estatic and they hug.

I thought that was one of the sweetest endings that I have seen TVB do in along time.

Great series, great love story, highly recommended!
