This TVB series is mostly about the Chung Yeung Street that separates China and Hong Kong. On that street, there is a bunch of people who own stores.

Maggie Cheung plays a single mother and the owner of a clothes store. She is independent, kind, outspoken and optimistic. She meets Bowie, a policeman. At first, they treat each other very cruelly, however, when Maggie falls for Bowie's best friend Ben, everything changes. Ben is a very optimistic person, also boring, too. He is a super "neat freak". At first, Maggie thinks that nothing will ever tear her and Ben apart, but she is mad wrong. Ben decides to choose his career rather than her, so they sort of break up. Ben leaves for his job. During this time, Bowie confesses to Maggie. She's stuck between Ben and Bowie. However, she knows that she and Ben are over so she decides to choose Bowie. But when Ben comes back and proposes to her, what will she do? Will she choose Ben, the one who left her for his career, or Bowie, the guy who loves her more than his job?

Characters:
Maggie - This is my first time seeing her as a single mom, and she portrays the mother very well. She can do anything for love, like when Ben wanted to her read all those boring history books, she did. However, she knows that she isn't the type for Ben. She hates to hurt people's feelings and most of all she's outspoken. She can yell real loud and even Bowie was scared of her sometimes. Overall, she's good.

Bowie - He is shy around Maggie (ever since he started to have feelings for her) but he isn't a bad man. He can be stupid sometimes and be smart another. He can stand up to anyone except Maggie, cause he knows that she's a better yeller than him. He's really soft when it comes to friendships and love. He didn't really confess to Maggie, it was his mom who helped him. All he did was say a couple lines and that was it. But I must admit that the "couple lines" were sweet enough to let Maggie know that he really likes her.

Ben - He's BORING. He's selfish and very very very very boring. I mean, when he and Maggie started dating, he thought that she wasn't educated enough so, he made her buy and read tons of history books. Though Maggie was very unhappy, she didn't show it. He couldn't even tell if she was happy or not. Everything has to go his way. Maggie had to break up with him because he gave too much pressure to her and that he cared only about his career. I was so happy that Maggie rejected his proposal at the end. I wouldn't want to marry a guy who gives you too much pressure. =)

Joyce - She's a really soft girl because she grew up in a village. She has a bad life....(sigh) she's like nonexistent to her family. Her grandma is always helping her brother because he's the only young male in the family. Her father thinks she's not his daughter because of an old lover of her mom. That old lover left her some million dollars and died. She was forced to take a DNA test but her mother didn't let her go. This poor girl fell for the "old lover"'s son who was spoiled and cheated her. Poor girl.

Others: Yu Yeung played an unreasonable father who forced her daughter to take a DNA test and didn't trust his wife. Law Koon Lan played a very outspoken principal and she didn't like the way Yu Yeung didn't trust her. Ronald Cheng plays a village sort of guy who plays the guitar. He falls for Bowie's boss, Madam (played by Koy Ming Fai), who is older than him.

My Comments:
The Most Unreasonable Character: Yu Yeung. I hated how he treated Joyce. He didn't trust his wife either. She tried to explain and he never listened. I just hated him. I mean how can you not trust a wife who is dutiful, reasonable, kindred and loyal?

Most Cowardly Character: Bowie. He was so scared to confess to Maggie that his mother had to help him. Oh my God, if you can talk and love someone, you can confess. BUT HE WAS GOOD!

Most Pitiful Character: Joyce. She does everything for her irritating father and all she gets back is a DNA test. Wow. She spends her life giving to others and getting nothing back. Pity pity.

Most Selfish Character(s): Oohhh, this one has to go to Ben. This fella made Maggie read all those books and never asked if she wanted to read it or not. I would also give him the Most Irritating Character, Most Stupidest Character, etc. Besides Ben, I would also hand this award to Ha Ping who played Yu Yeung's mother. She would often tell Joyce to do this do that and wouldn't even yell at her grandson if he did something wrong. She was like sexist. Oohh....

Most Favorite Couple: Bowie and Maggie. I like the way when Bowie and Maggie were holding hands and talking in a park. They were teasing each other and they weren't like any other couple in the movie. They went through a lot.

Least Favorite Couple: Ronald and Madam. Ronald was so silly to stick to Madam when she refused him. They look terrible. One is old and one is young.

Most Favorite Character(s): I have about three. I shall explain why I chose them.

Female: All the females in here should be given a raise from TVB. I personally feel that they gave the audience their best performances. But my favorite character would be Maggie. She's very outspoken and she's very much like me. She has her personality and she's independent.

Male: Bowie and Ronald. Though I hated Ronald for going out with Madam, I do consider him as a very kind person. I like how he never gives up even though she rejected him twice. Bowie never did give up until he heard Ben propose to Maggie. He always loved Maggie and he loved her more than his job unlike Ben.

Best Performances: Maggie!!!! I'm a Maggie fan even though no one knows it, except MDN, the webmaster of Maggie Cheung Internet Fan Club(MCIFC). I consider Maggie as a great actress no matter what. She always plays the outgoing kind and that's what she is.

Worst Performances: Yu Yeung. He couldn't really pretend to be very tired and very unsure when it came to Joyce's real identity. Though he's a veteran actor, this was probably his worst performance.

What happened to Ben at the end? I dunno.....after Maggie rejected him I think he left or something....

What happened to Joyce and her parents at the end? Her father finally trusted her and his wife and they had a happy ending, except the spoiled brother of Joyce who went to jail.

What about Bowie and Maggie? There's no a real ending for them. At the end it shows them trying to catch the bouquet from Ronald's wedding and the end.

What do you think? Should you rent this series? Yes. Yes. Yes. Every crazy MAGGIE fan should. If you saw it, see it again. Even though it's not that good, you should see it because the relationships between China and HK are portrayed in here.
