Foreword
Do you wish to see how Grasshopper member, So Chi Wai’s wife acts with Cheung Wai Kin in this drams? This drama will be able to provide you with the chance. This is also one of the numerous dramas that Lai Chi made for TVB in the 1990s.

Story/Introduction on characters

1. Bug-toothed So – Cheung Wai Kin
He stays in the countryside. He has bug-tooth and stammers when he talks. However, a eunuch likes him. But he offends the eunuch so he has to be on the run to the town to save his own life. He offends Master Wong but later they clear up their misunderstanding. He wants to be his disciple but gets rejected. He gets along well with Wong’s other disciples so they manage to change his mind.

2. Ng Sam Guai – Lam Heung Kei
She is So’s child bride so she follows him wherever he goes. However, she is only like his elder sister. Later, she becomes Leung Foon’s love interest instead.

3. Lam Sai Wing – Cheung Chi Kong
Even though he is forced to go on the run with So, he never have any complaints as long as he can be with Sam Suai. I have never associated this actor to act as a butcher before but he acts so well.

4. WongFei Hong – Kwan Hoi San
Definitely the no-nonsense person who forbids his disciples to break any rule.

5. Ling Wan Kar – Ho Bo Shang
He is the second disciple who is very protective of the younger juniors when they land up in trouble.

6. Chan Seven – Hui Chi On
His skills are lousy but he likes to go around boasting that he is Master Wong’s disciple.

7. Leung Foon – Tsang Wai Kuen
He is the eldest disciple and is a splitting image of his master. Very stern with his juniors but they adore him as the ‘Dai See Hing’.

8. Wong Yuk Hing – Yip Yuk Ping
She is the only rose among the thorns. Being so rough doesn’t give her any hope to win Wan Kar’s affections so the other sgive her a big transformation.

9. Chu Yan Yan – Lau Siu Wai
She comes from a rich family and just returns from overseas. She initially looks down on So. Duo Bo tries to win her love but fails too. She finds So adorable to love him later.

10. Miu Chu – Lai Chi
She works in a teahouse by playing the pipa. She is initially at loggerheads with So to knock off all his teeth. He feels painful but is delighted to change into a new set of golden ones. Both become a couple in the end.

11. Kam Duo Bo – Ou Yeung Chun Wah
He is a bully in the town, always fawning on how rich he is. The reckless So has so many unpleasant brushes with him. Getting offended, he frames ‘Bo chi Lam’. The mild-mannered members have no choice but to strike back.

12. The eunuch – Lok Ying Kwan
The eunuch who hunts So down all the way because he is angry that So loses his precious object. He conspires with Duo Bo as Master Wong always hinders him from seeking revenge.

The fast paced song is ‘Kissing You’ by Wai Kin. You must get his CD because this song is terrific!

Conclusion

I must admit that I have never liked Wai Kin’s way of acting. Same here – he has reprised his same old acting methods for 10 over years! The only saving grace is to see the actresses’ refreshing faces. The so-called heroes are not as heroic enough as in Wong Fei Hung movies. Their moves are very basic and they look so thin. No wonder they keep on getting looked down or bullied. The story is nonsensical so I don’t bother relating. Still, it is a lighthearted comedy that you can watch if you are in a bad mood.
